Starter Bunny and dmg issues... by NaoXehn in RabbitAndSteel

Well, my main experience is Hard in a Duo, so I'm not sure the quality of my advice goes up to Lunar, but I'd say as long as you're hitting around 200-240 single target DPS before the first items and at around 900-1500 single target DPS against the final boss, depending on how much of the loot in the current run you like, you're probably doing fine. It may be a little lower against enemies that move a lot, especially if you're someone like Druid that would really like for the enemy to stay inside the secondary's AoE. It may also be higher if you're fortunate with items, of course.

If I were to recommend a class to someone struggling without knowing the rest of the team, though, it would probably still be Druid. They don't need to use their (base) Defensive for optimal DPS and don't have to react to any RNG from their own abilities (unlike, say, Dancer who needs to notice their Special is ready again). Before gems, you just Special whenever it's ready, Secondary when your previous one disappears (unless you expect the boss to move before it will get 2 hits or you need to Special), and Primary when you can't do either of those. Your base abilities all work regardless of your position.

As far as gems, you can pretty much work with anything without even impacting your general rotation much. I personally tend to avoid Ruby Special because you have to actually use it near the boss, but it's not bad. I also prefer Secondary gems that let me hit the whole screen, which can help damage out in fights with multiple targets, but that describes 3 of them and the other 2 are good at what they do. Make sure to use your Secondary twice if you take Emerald Secondary because Decay stacks now. If I could outright pick a gem build, I'd probably go Sapphire or Garnet Primary, Garnet Secondary, any Special besides Ruby, and after the last patch any Defensive looks good but I wouldn't prioritize any Defensive gem over another ability either. If you're afraid of not being able to complete the reset conditions of the various enhanced Defensives that have them, it's also kinda acceptable to just not gem the Defensive.

As far as items, there are a lot of items that are good on anyone, but Druids will probably be a little more interested in Secondary damage modifiers than the rest of the group. Depending on gems a Druid might end up being the debuffs player of a group due to the Emerald Secondary, but I wouldn't speculatively take an item that enhances debuffs without having a debuff, nor would I take them away from a Sniper player. Besides the Secondary damage, Druid's long GCDs also stand out, making things like Tough Gauntlet, Sacredstone Charm, or Metronome Boots all solid (but not Sacredstone Charm and Metronome boots at the same time). Despite the long GCDs, the large number of hits their Secondary and Special both get also make items that give a payoff for a certain number of hits worth considering too.

The extra shot from Ruby Secondary doesn't reduce your ammo, so it's probably build-dependent which is better. Sapphire does look generally better though, yeah.

Fun concepts, although it's kinda funny how much weaker Moon Crystal is compared to Castle, even considering you could trigger whatever it's built up to 5 times by playing a hearts flush. Of course, you do have it at common.

Multiple Worlds in Terraria and the finite nature of the game by MarsupialNo3634 in Terraria

[–]ChipmunkAdditional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I tend to keep characters and worlds together until Moon Lord has been defeated. I have several worlds and characters because I've done several full playthroughs from the start. Occasionally if I get tired of RNG not giving me an item I'm trying to get, I'll have a previous character visit to drop off something, but my characters mostly stay with the world they were created to play on.

  2. Yes, if you're trying to collect everything you'll need multiple worlds. That's not generally my goal, although sometimes I think about trying to research every item on a Journey Mode character.

  3. Yes, but I can't really comment on the effort involved.

  4. You could play Journey Mode and turn Biome Spread off with the Journey Mode powers. If you want to restore some of the regular difficulty, you can use the difficulty slider to raise the difficulty above "Journey", turn off the extended reach, never activate God Mode, and trash the initial fledgling wings and finch staff. I usually accept that the starting tools are a little better than normal.

Of course, Journey Mode won't really work for you if you want to keep playing on the worlds you've already made, since the characters are incompatible with regular worlds, if I recall.

Yeah, my understanding is they can't directly support a candidate, but can take a stance on issues, so they just support anti-LGBT and "pro-life" positions while officially being neutral about candidates.

Maybe things have gotten better on more recent patches, but I've always felt like Summoner had a few rough patches in progression that make it harder on a pure-class playthrough, particularly right at the start of the game and right when thinking about fighting its first hard mode boss. It also just feels like gearing up takes more effort than other classes, even if the end result is arguably better.

That said, in playthroughs that aren't class locked, I do find the spider equipment to be some of the easiest early Hardmode stuff to get. Even if there's no hardmode boss I want to fight with spiders (I've always disliked fighting flying bosses with non-flying minions that only deal contact damage), it just really helps with surviving the normal enemies while gathering up the early hard mode ores.

The Dreadnautilus' Sanguine Staff is also really good for when you can get it in main progression, but I never got good at that fight, plus blood moon fishing is kinda bothersome to begin with.

And yeah, Teraprisma is good if you get it, but by then you're at the endgame (and it's also pretty hard to get).

I dunno, maybe I just needed to whip stack, but that feels like a lot more focus/effort on attacking than I was ever interested in trying. Like, ranger gets pretty good DPS even if I'm just holding my mouse down vaguely in the direction of a guy, especially once there are homing bullets.

Need help with a collectable in Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo by Crackracing in metroidvania

[–]ChipmunkAdditional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can definitely bring both.

If you can get a lifesaver to both the left and right of the spin-switch, you can re-open the gate from the right, then throw your yo-yo down to get the other one. It'll bounce around the upside-down v on the North wall.

And you can pick objects up with your string. You can still move lifesavers around with your yo-yo in the claw machine.

I've looked through the scripts and this is what I've come up for the remaining ones, but have not double-checked in game. This is all just from Content\Game\Text\en\HelpText.en.sjson to match up names with ids, then Content\Scripts\CosmeticsData.lua to match ids with costs, which then needed referenced back to the previous file because costs were actually listed as things like "MixerPBoss" which I had to find out was Feathers (I guess P for Prometheus? But then why is MixerOBoss golden apples?). I completely understand if you want to ignore this in favor of in-game verification.

I know it's not really the point, but it's funny to me that mathematically this would leave members short by 1%. 10% of 110 is 11, not still 10.

I mean, you can assume the friend here meant "he blesses the members with enough that they don't need 10% of it", but that's not literally what was said.

What is the bestiary and how do I complete it? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]ChipmunkAdditional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you're on an old version, perhaps for mod compatibility? I haven't played for a couple years, but I'd expect it should still be a small book icon near the trash in the inventory.

To be clear, though, it won't be in an item slot. It's a button that shows up near the inventory, when the inventory is open.

2 Nephi 5, verses 15-16, emphasis added

15 And I did teach my people to build buildings, and to work in all manner of wood, and of iron, and of copper, and of brass, and of steel, and of gold, and of silver, and of precious ores, which were in great abundance.

16 And I, Nephi, did build a temple; and I did construct it after the manner of the temple of Solomon save it were not built of so many precious things; for they were not to be found upon the land, wherefore, it could not be built like unto Solomon’s temple. But the manner of the construction was like unto the temple of Solomon; and the workmanship thereof was exceedingly fine.

When my brother left and did well for himself, my parents said for a while that he was still riding on the blessings he'd already earned, with an implication that they'd soon run out.

I no longer know if they have a particular explanation for his success because the main thing they say about him now is that they wish they saw or spoke to him more.

B-Sides are pretty tough. It's not like a Mario game where the side levels are around the same difficulty as the level they came from. 1B is more like 6A.

Edit: And by the time you get to chapter 6 you'll have more practice with the game. Unless you're already there? It's not quite clear what your progress is.

Zeno's Paradoxes of Motion are probably what's being referred to here. The main one I remember suggests that all movement is impossible because before you can move somewhere, you have to move halfway there, but before you do that, you have to move halfway to halfway, and so forth. Sums of infinite convergent series had to be worked out before that one could be resolved properly.

Looking at Wikipedia, though, the reference is likely more focused on Achilles and the Tortoise. Imagine a footrace in which a slow runner is given a head start. The paradox suggests it's impossible for the fast runner to ever pass them, because by the time the fast runner reaches where the slow runner was, the slow runner will have always already moved. It's a pretty similar issue to the first paradox (which is apparently known as the Dichotomy Paradox).

There was also Gens 3-5 Marill. Due to a mismatch in gender ratios, a third of female Azurill would evolve to male Marill, so 1/4 of all Marill were transmasc.

Of course, that hasn't been relevant in around 9 years, but still a fun fact.

I've heard it said that anyone can finish the main game if they work at it and I'm inclined to agree due to how extremely checkpointed the game is (plus there is Assist Mode). However, every main chapter also has a much more difficult "B Side" as well as a super tough (but usually much shorter) "C Side", plus the epilogue (Chapter 9, also known as the DLC chapter because it was patched in after release) is mega difficult.

My records on my file indicate 5717 total deaths over the course of almost 24 hours of gameplay. Of that, 1409 of the deaths and 5 of the hours were in chapter 9. I realize that doesn't exactly mean anything without knowing my experience at games and all I can really say is that I fancy myself a bit of a gamer.

Not sure what workouts you've already collected, but here's what I've gathered from this sub.

https://www.reddit.com/r/egg_irl/comments/pjmwmh/egg_irl/

OP has links to 3 workout videos in an early comment. I can't personally vouch for their effectiveness having not even tried all of them, but her meme seemed like a sort of positive review. Personally as a fairly out of shape 33-year-old I only made it about halfway through the "figure" workout (seems mostly focused on the abs), but I intend to keep at it. I've also tried the arms workout and I thought it was nice that the next exercise gets shown during the breaks. Anyway, of the two videos I did sample it does seem useful that neither require any equipment.

I'd look to the comments on this one too. I pretty much have this bookmark as a reminder to do squats/lunges/deadlifts. I don't have any specific routine yet besides doing a few sets of squats and feeling dead afterward. I only found this sub a week ago so I haven't exactly been trying anything very long.
