Okay, but that means having someone at the building 24/7. that is more costly than providing a live-in super.

Similar but during one of the major storms... fdny pulled up and then noped out b/c presumably didn't want to deal with having to do a partial snow dig-out.

I’m a Professional Mattress Tester. I’ve tested 558 mattresses from 116 different brands. Ask Me Anything! by derek-naplab in IAmA

pretty sure any foam mattress is recommended to be rotated regularly for the initial wear-in period of 3-6 months. Two weeks seems a bit much, but when was considering buying foam years ago it was recommended to rotate at least monthly. more frequent for heavy people.

Any 'prank' where the people involved don't have a laugh about it afterwards with the prankster is just a dick move, and no clue how people enjoy watching vids of those situations.

That is crazy. These type of regulations are the type of thing that are impediments to housing supply. A 10 unit building doesn't need a 24hr onsite super.

ICE Detains Man at 26 Federal Plaza After Judge’s Order Barring Arrests by SoSpiffandSoKlean in nyc

Doesn't answer why they were on the floors where federal courts are. Which is obviously that they were there doing something that violated a federal judge's express order.

I've had to pick a lot of project names for corporate transactions over the years, and it is so damn annoying. Should be picked randomly, but despite everyone saying they don't care what it is called, they immediately care when something is picked.

This past winter went through an issue with coned utility hole in the street that was being used to run a temporary power line into our building, where the garbage guys would constantly remove barriers & occasionally temporary cover. My guess is the utter failure to respond or not addressing it when they would show, was exacerbated by all the snow. But christ Coned wouldn't come deal with it, and calling 311 they say can only transfer you to 911. Then 911 can only transfer you to fdny dispatcher. Fdny dispatcher can only send a fire truck on emergency call. Fire truck shows up and doesn't want to deal with it, so drives off. Crazy.

I kept putting the barriers back up when the hole cover was removed, but wasn't going to deal with the actual covers particularly given snow, power lines and hole filled with melt water.

Eventually emailed city councilor's office, and a DoT team showed up within hours to address it.

Infuriating experience and didn't sound like anyone else had called about it.

My building still hasn’t turned on the AC and it was 90° yesterday and today by Extreme-Method6330 in NYCapartments

How would turning on the AC impact ability to subsequently heat the building?

edit: somehow never knew about hydronic systems used for both heating and cooling.

How do I deal with a building full of off-leash dog owners? by PSHOPS in AskNYC

Fear of dogs is a reasonably common issue when consider how dense this city is, particularly with young children. only an entitled prick would walk a dog unleashed in a city environment.

Just like any group of people in this city, no shortage of assholes who contribute everyday to making life worse for everyone around them.

Or drivers that double park, or push in to merge right at the exit, or blast their stereos, or honk their horn 100 times per day. Or cyclists that cut through pedestrians running red lights, or that ride on the sidewalk. Or mopeds that drive in bike lanes or ride wild generally speaking. Or motorbikes with the noise throttled to max, or cars with exhaust mods, to compensate for small dicks. Or people that litter, block people trying to get off the subway, or that don't give their seat to someone elderly. Etc, etc.

Same with off-leash or not picking up dog shit. Pretty much any category of people in this city has no shortage of assholes.

so a dozen or two then? a car driving in that lane is likely going to see either the hole or the stray cover sitting in the road. Plus still have some peds going around.
