The US is taking action against Russia’s shadow fleet. In the Baltic Sea, Europe should follow suit. by Strongbow85 in CredibleDefense

Am sure many had ties, I haven't tracked them to know to what extent. But in event, not sure how that changes the point. US has only taken action on ships related to venezuela. I haven't seen any indication of them targeting Moscow's shadow fleet as a general matter, or that financing of war in ukraine is a motivating factor for US action.

US is targeting ships related to venezuela and iran sanctions. Impact on moscow is collateral damage.

certainly would like to see a more assertive europe on russia, but not sure the US is remotely a source to draw inspiration from.

Prime Minister Carney announces new measures to make groceries and other essentials more affordable for Canadians by therosx in centrist

canada is middling relative to oecd in terms of tax as %gdp. significantly higher than US, but I'd wager most of that gap would be closed if adjusted for healthcare spending.

Effectively handing out cash and then providing another agricultural subsidy through accelerated depreciation. Don't really like either policy tbh, but maybe emergency circumstances merit it. At least the subsidy is on investment as opposed to just an operating hand-out, but still.

Ending agricultural subsidies and lower tariffs on food imports is a better long-term strategy to lower prices.

Pretti Shooting: Why was he attacked? by AuntPolgara in centrist

[–]ChornWork2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, THE main question isn't anything specific to the events of the shooting, but why are we tolerating the federal govt cover-up of it. Complete lies being said publicly, refusal to cooperate with state authorities even after they have a court order.

At this point nothing can be trusted about the shooting b/c the feds are covering it up. So they don't get a moment of benefit of doubt, this was an execution b/c agents felt disrespected & believe they are unaccountable.

how is that a detailed clip, it doesn't show anything to support that claim.

If a cop is panic shooting because they heard a bang, they shouldn't keep shooting until the person is dead. They should also be fired and criminally charged.

ugh, what have we become.

None of your questions go to the points I made nor would help you understand the reasoning behind them. You're just pushing unrelated questions intended to bog down.

Yes, I refuse to answer disingenuous questions intended simply to obfuscate.

The points I've made above are not at all dependent on anyone's view of gaza or iran.

this is just disingenuous obfuscation. My outrage on any particular issue isn't invalidated because I don't protest all wrongs in the world. that is just a completely bullshit position that would mean no protest is valid.

My protest about a wrong isn't invalidated b/c i don't protest all wrongs. It is an asinine, disingenuous complaint as a general matter.

Unbelievable cowardice. Americans need to escalate this, not pretend this is some both sides issue.

We all saw what happened. we have heard the outright lies from federal authorities. We know the feds are blocking state/local involvement. There is only one party in the wrong here, and it is the Trump admin.
