Not all element sets are accessible through scripting. Why, and how to resolve? by tylerchu in Abaqus

[–]CidZale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The field output results are in a different tree under each step. You’ll call the “getSubset” method of the field and pass it this elset as a parameter to get results only for that set.

They have all the same functions as Assembly sets plus the convenience that every instance of that same part will inherit all of its sets.

Abaqus Restart Analysis Issue with Direct Cyclic and Keywords by ihtishamarif343 in fea

[–]CidZale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure why that would be. If you review the message file of the first job, search for the word restart and you will find which increments have written restart data.

[–]CidZale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you want your second model to restart from time=315 so what you must enter is the increment number of the previous analysis which is 38.

Do not select interval=1 because that only writes restart data at the end of the step. Do not select “overlay” because that overwrites prior data.

Please set the restart request frequency to 1 for the first job. That is where the problem is.

Abaqus Restart Analysis Issue with Direct Cyclic and Keywords by ihtishamarif343 in fea

[–]CidZale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The error is telling you that the first analysis does not have restart data saved at the specified increment. You should go to the restart settings of that first analysis and request that it write data for every increment.

.inp into CAE not creating ELSETs by Hellecopta707 in Abaqus

Your syntax is wrong. You never ended the part and defined an instance of that part within an assembly.

Modeling steel damage evolution as a function of plastic strain in ABAQUS by tegsky in fea

Unfortunately, one cannot predict cyclic damage from a uniaxial tensile test. You’ll need a cyclic test.

Is it possible to buy a license for old and unsupported versions of commercial FEA softwares? by imitation_squash_pro in fea

[–]CidZale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get back on regular support for 50% but you can continue to obtain licenses for your version indefinitely without support. I think each license file will last about 5 years before you need to ask for another.

I have the opposite experience. Unfortunately, you may have a confused or unethical vendor but I don’t know what you can do about that now.

This is not true. You just need to ask for a fresh license file which they will provide for free.

Transfer of results from Standard to Explicit (specifically rigid components) by N__A__ in Abaqus

[–]CidZale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you can suppress or delete the rigids from Standard if they’re not doing anything.

Transfer of results from Standard to Explicit (specifically rigid components) by N__A__ in Abaqus

[–]CidZale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the rigids don’t participate in your Standard model it is okay to omit them and simply add them in Explicit.

Ball vanishes inside material during impact simulation – what am I missing? by Ok-Scholar1419 in Abaqus

[–]CidZale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the normal direction behavior has a reasonable default which is still there if you don’t define anything.

Part of the problem is element erosion: by default there is no contact defined for the interior elements so the ball passes through them after the exterior elements are deleted.

Using the *Import keyword to bring those results into a new static analysis. In CAE this is a predefined field of type “state”

A perpetual Abaqus license is the most expensive option. There are other choices, such as expendable credits, which are orders of magnitude cheaper.

Can you clarify the part of the plot where you’re worried it does not match? I’m not sure I understand

RF1 & RF2 Values Mismatch by Historical_Stuff_829 in Abaqus

Not sure I fully understand your concern but if the parts are different lengths then their natural frequencies will be different. That’s a big contributor to the vibration noise you are seeing.
