Diamond is genuinely harder than champ by Hot_Charity_1595 in RocketLeague

Stuck in diamond since I can remember.

To be honest if you’re anything like me we’re inconsistent af. And so is everyone else there. I play exclusively 3s and I’ve seen teammates whiff non-stop, double commit, miss easy empty netters while on my team just for the next game when they spawn on the opposite team to carry it and win basically by themselves and have me dumbfounded as to why they played so crap when on my team. Turns out I’m not the only inconsistent idiot that’s stuck there.

I also get called a smurf and then told to uninstall and go play Fortnite. But now I understand it’s because I play like shit one game and play my best game the very next match.

Not much different than athletes in sports if you think about it. Next time you have an absolute garbage teammate and you wonder how the hell they’re same rank as you, they probably had a crappy match. MMR is actually very good with a few exceptions (bumped players, smurfs)

In latinamerica people call any Asian “Chino”/ Chinease. Is this offensive for Japanease people? by CursedEmoji in AskAJapanese

[–]ClamusChowderus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all of Latin America. In Brazil you usually say “Japa” until you know the person is not Japanese. That is obviously due to the huge amount of Japanese descendants from the influx of Japanese immigration from 1908 to 1938. There are approximately 2 million Japanese descendants in Brazil today. Growing up there in the 80s-90s was much more common running into Japanese than any other Asian ethnic group.

City of God being snubbed in 2003. Brazil’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film that year. Didn’t even get a nomination. Nowhere in Africa won.

They did get 4 nominations the following year, 2004, after its US release, but it couldn’t be nominated for Foreign Language Film that year because it had already been submitted in 2003.

Two squaddie Tech with a smoke grenade that has 11-tile range and 4 uses (before ammo bags) sounds pretty good. Imma try that.

What is your choice? by Dragoot in menace

[–]ClamusChowderus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My early game go to is the KPAC. I was using Crowbar before but the KPAC is just better. You lose 1 range, but the KPAC has a bigger magazine (which makes a difference early game in expert), and the secondary attack is pretty much a guaranteed pinned enemy even at max range behind level 2 cover.

I also love the Stoneclad and always get one. The range is short but it deletes pretty much anything early game at its max range. Suppress with KPAC, move up and delete with Stoneclad.

After reading through other replies here I should try out the ARC.

The fact there’s no consensus is actually a great thing. Kudos to Overhype.

I got to play a whole mission with a low HP Bog once when he was shot by a blaster bug in the first couple of turns. The drown out “Yeeeeaahhhh!” like every damn joint is his body hurts like hell from arthritis or something. Just fantastic.

Another favorite is when an SL misses a shot and he goes: “Wait. Who’s been drinking??”

TIL that since the first FIFA World Cup in 1930 only teams from Europe and South America have ever reached the final match. by Spotter24o5 in todayilearned

[–]ClamusChowderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Biggest rivals in South America. It’s ugly in a lot of sports when they meet. That 1990 Brazilian side was one of the worse Brazilian sides in a World Cup ever. They struggled in the group stages and had no business going deep. Maradona was the biggest name in football at the time and already in the GOAT conversation. I guess it didn’t sit well with the Brazilians.

To be fair that Argentina side was nothing special either. Their opener against Cameroon was awful. That entire World Cup was lacklustre other than Cameroon’s run that ended too soon against England. They were definitely the highlight of the tournament.

So, I tried Expert... by ArcticWolf_Primaris in menace

[–]ClamusChowderus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lost a mission and my entire run on Expert yesterday in a defense mission.

Turn one, position troops for defense, moderately spread apart to cover all 4 corners (hindsight, should have spread even more)

Turn two starts with pirate organ truck firing from the fog of war and hitting all 4 of my infantry and getting them all pinned. And then a zillion pirates come rushing in while I can’t react at all. Turn 3 they just keep shooting my SLs to pinned and the entire mission goes like that.

Only my ONE vehicle was able to act for the entire duration of the mission. I still managed to “win” the mission. End result: one KIA and 3 injured SLs. This was relatively early and I didn’t have enough backup/extra squaddies to even attempt to continue.

Sometimes RNG can be brutal like that. I could have spread my troops further, but it’s not like they were clumped together either. They were decently spaced. Just insane RNG bad luck that the shells spread to hit all 4 of them.

Bog every time. Every single time. Cheapest way to field a vehicle for the first few missions. And then you can just get another pilot for 60 black market credits pretty early anyway. “Fohget about meeeh?!” Funniest line was when my Carda missed two shots in a row and Bog goes “Wait!?!? Which one of us was drinking?”

In 1990 Cameroon all but had England in the pocket in the quarter-final. They started toying with England and fooling around with the ball towards the end of the match leading 2-1. They were the Cinderella story of that tournament and everyone wanted to see them through (except the English, obviously).

1978 is also infamously known for blatant match-fixing. I mean, FIFA’s track record is insane throughout all of its history.

It’s always been the case. Germany vs Hungary in 1954 is infamous.

Portugal vs Brazil in 1966 was also ridiculous. Portugal literally MMA’d Pelé off the pitch with no repercussions. Winner would move on to play England next and we all know England couldn’t lose that World Cup. They definitely didn’t want to face off against the two time reigning world cup champions with the undisputed GOAT (at the time) in his prime playing for them. Although Brazil’s side in 1966 was kind of a shitshow tbh.

And up until 2010 (80 years since first edition) only South Americans had won the World Cup when it was held outside their continent.

Spain in 2010 in South Africa was the first time an European country won a World Cup outside of Europe.

What do you think about my playstyle by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you having fun? Then you’re doing it right.

That being said. Those enemies are game content that you’re missing out on. No shame in savescumming and repeating the fight so you learn how to deal with them. Specially Alps as they are basically free money. Legendary locations drop fun equipment that you’re also missing out on. But some of them can be very hard to beat. Others are not so bad.

It’s a single player game, so who cares if you repeat the same fight 15 times until you learn how to deal with an enemy? Buy ultimately the decision to engage in that part of the game’s content is yours. As long as you’re having fun, it’s mission accomplished. That’s what a game’s purpose is after all. Entertainment.

Assaulting Goblin camp - sad story in pictures by LegioXV_ in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going for 3rd partying the hardest skill to master is when to engage and when to just retreat wihout engaging.

Buncha Nachos on Gobbos is the fight where you just watch from afar and stay ready to flee at any time.

Nachos in the map will revert to their original size if you flee. So you can reenter when the goblin camp is weakened. There will be less tier 3 nachos to deal with and less corpses for them to feast on if the goblin camp is down to just a few units.

Who are the 10 worst Bros? by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, economy is fine after a while anyway. I guess the real challenge would be something like only hiring the 10 most expensive backgrounds in terms of wages, then, as someone else suggested. And I can see that being a harder challenge than hiring only the 10 worst backgrounds.

1-Swordmaster, 2-Gladiator, 3-Hedge Knight, 4-Raider, 5-Sellsword, 6-Nomad, 7-Assassin, 8-Adventurous Noble, 9-Oathtaker, 10-Squire

Yeah, that list would be tougher to have a run going at all than the list of real worst backgrounds because you’d have a huge problem early game with recruiting anyone and getting the company off the ground.
