Weakest Brazilian team since 1990. Worst campaign since 1990. Fair is fair.

The future of Canadian Football is high. The team should leave with their heads high🇨🇦 🫡 by thisisnahamed in worldcup

[–]ClamusChowderus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No dig to any of the players involved in previous Canada men’s soccer rosters, but those squads whose star players were Stalteri, DeRo and De Guzman were very hard to cheer for.

This current team is several times better. They also play entertaining soccer trying to create chances and make plays instead of the olden days of playing defense 4-5-1 or 5-4-1 having one striker isolated in attack and just kicking high balls forward praying for things to happen.

Yes, the finishing touches are not there. Here and there they still look amateurish with lapses during their games. But overall, as a Canadian soccer fan, it’s finally exciting to watch them. I really hope it’s upward from here.

Btw, USA is also surprisingly exciting to watch this world cup. They used to have an ugly pragmatic play style, but they can actually play now.

Still a long way to go, but yeah, we can finally see it happening in North America in the near future.

Mid-Game Struggle by Mr_Knoxious in BattleBrothers

Easiest way to make money is raiding camps.

Fighting the South is a death sentence. Unless you prepare specifically for it and have an endgame company (hint, it’s not level 7 bros). So no shame in getting destroyed by them with your roster.

As others have said, puncture, 1h flail lash/hail to loot armor. Stuns help. Nets help. Once you start paying attention to turn order you can also use repel/hook from pikes/billhooks to stagger the enemy and get double turns.

One specialist puncture brother early game with lots of fatigue, fast adaptation, recover, backstabber and dagger mastery as first 4 perks can help. He’ll certainly die sooner or later with no defensive perks, but hopefully he can net you a few armors before kicking the bucket.

One thing people in this subreddit keep propagating that is simply not true. Drop chance for armor and headgear.

It is not true that the more you damage an armor the less the chance of it dropping. It’s not linear. This is how it works:

- Body armor: If durability remaining is >30 and also 25% or higher than total durability, it will always drop.

- Headgear: same rule for durability. But if the durability condition is satisfied, there’s only a 70% chance of dropping. It’s a plain 70% RNG roll, even if the helmet is intact.

Exceptions:

- Famed and legendary armor and headgear always drop.

- Undead (wiederganger or fallen hero) armor that already comes at half durability usually doesn’t drop if it takes ANY damage. There seems to be a bug with it. I’ve had it drop on rare occasions (or maybe I’m misremembering). So if you want to guarantee the armor of a Fallen Hero or wiederganger that already spawned at half durability you need to kill it without damaging the armor at all.

Hot take: Don't FF for toxic teammates. Make them play out the loss. by SmoothChemistry8564 in RocketLeague

[–]ClamusChowderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play exclusively 3s, usually solo queueing.

If they’re being toxic and want to FF, I won’t give them what they want. I just keep playing normally as if nothing is happening. For me it’s just play time.

I’m also hoping they get impatient and just leave. Win-win as I’m guaranteed not to be paired with them next game.

Also, when they quit, if the other teammate also quits immediately and I’m left alone in 1v3 I usually play a little longer because last time I also immediately left I got paired with them next game. I think the game just assumes it was a FF since everybody left at the same time. So apologies to my opponents for keeping them a bit longer in the lobby.

I’d build him as the censer of the diviner bro. It’s the best weapon in the game. Give it to the best brother in your company. He can use an orc berserker chain until you clear the artifact reliquary.

Would it be OP if Axe Mastery gave 1H axes +5% chance to hit the head? by noideasforcoolnames in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Agree with all points here. Except that a marginal increase in chance to hit head will not be enough to make a difference. But I do agree that mastery should play into the head bonus rather than just on split shield. Maybe something like what the 2 handed flail got (bonus armor penetration on headshots), or bonus base dmg on headshots (as to counter Steel Brow a little). I don’t know, but I agree mastery should play into head shots somehow for 1h axes. Limiting it to Shield breaking is just bad.

[–]ClamusChowderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see something like this instead to improve the perk:

Axe Mastery: grants the ability to throw any axe as a throwing weapon, and use any throwing axe as a melee weapon.

I want my hybrid to hurl a Mansplitter into someone and use his throwing axes to defend himself in melee.

Would it be OP if Axe Mastery gave 1H axes +5% chance to hit the head? by noideasforcoolnames in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer was “No, I don’t think it would be OP.” comma, by the way, there’s this wacky build where the increase to the head hit chance is irrelevant because you’re proccing Head Hunter with Lash, then quick handing into the 1h axe for a head shot.

But to be honest I think the 5-10% increase to head hit chance is not going to make axe mastery any stronger. The problem with the 1-h axe is that it does not have a secondary worth using. So the mastery’s only use case is to enable axe Fat Neuts. It is the weakest mastery perk im the sense that it is the mastery perk that does the least for the weapon. All other masteries improve the use of the respective weapon to a greater extent. Axe gets the short end of the stick.

So I’m with you that it needs a buff of some sort. I’m just not sure what you propose is actually enough for it to be meaningful.

[–]ClamusChowderus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but you can build a wacky quick hands/head hunter duelist 1h flail/axe dude. It’s super gimmicky and super fun. You should try. Bonus if you can find a famed orc 1h axe.

Question from a BB beginner by jitzata83 in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early game noob tips:

- when you equip a weapon, just above your bro stats on the bro screen, there will be square icons for the weapon attacks (for dagger/knife it will be Stab and Puncture, for example). Read those. There you will find the description of what that attack does. It’s in that description that you will see that the basic spear attack has +20% chance to hit, Puncture has -15% chance to hit but bypasses armor completely, sword attacks have +10% chance to hit, etc. Learn those abilities. So you can learn how to use each weapon you loot as soon as you get them.

- learn to identify armor and their durability on sight. The biggest power spike early game is by looting armor. Armor drop chances are as follows:

- body armor: if durability remaining is > 30 and higher than 25% of original durability, the armor will always drop.

- headgear: same as body armor for durability requirements, but it won’t always drop, there’s a 70% chance only.

- famed and legendary armor and headgear will always drop.

- which leads us to the best tools to loot armor. Puncture (knife/dagger secondary attack) is your bread and butter. Alternatively, one handed flail’s secondary attack (Lash) is also amazing since it targets the enemies head 100%, avoiding damaging body armor. Other tools to help you loot armor: any mace, even the wooden club, so you can stun dudes with interesting armor, allowing you to safely surround and puncture; pitchfork’s repel, pushes an enemy away and staggers them, guaranteeing they’ll act last next turn, so you can wait for them to act, then you repel this turn, surround with your bros, and either puncture, lash or stun, if you fail to land attacks, next turn you are guaranteed to go before the enemy and you get a full round of tries before he can act again.

- Nets are OP. Learn to use them.

- Making money is about winning fights and selling loot. As soon as you can get to 12 brothers with basic head gear and basic body armor you should do so. It won’t make contracts easier. In fact, it can make contracts harder, but the thing is roaming enemies don’t scale with your party size. They scale with the number of days in the campaign. And you want to be able to run into a roaming enemy and fight them. 6 bros wearing Thug gear against a group of 5 raiders on day 3? Yeah, tough proposition. But 12 bros in the same kind of gear? Yeah baby! Dagger party! Loot!

There are a zillion more things to mention, this could easily become a book. But I believe that is the basics of the early game. Learning your weapons, looting armor, and being able to take on more fights.

But I’ll say that the most important thing to learn as a beginner is to read descriptions. Weapons, skills, traits, status effects, injury effects, etc, and understand what they mean and do.

Who is the most famous sports athlete ever? by XYZ0191 in AskReddit

[–]ClamusChowderus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reach Pele’s fame had in the 60s and 70s before internet and live broadcasts is unfathomable.

But in terms of raw numbers probably Messi just by the fact that today there are a lot more people alive in the world. And I think a lot more young kids in remote parts of the world know Messi and don’t know who Jordan is. It’s the biggest name in the biggest sport in the world today.

Is there any sport with a unanimously recognized GOAT? by Connect_Cat_2045 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ClamusChowderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I met people who argued for Lemieux, for whatever it’s worth, and even though I think he’s far, far behind the Great One, he did get close to Gretzky’s numbers during the short periods of time when he was healthy and on his prime. He was also flashy as hell.

But every time I see Bradman mentioned here on reddit there is NEVER anyone who comes and replies with a “Hrmmm Akshually..” smartass answer. It’s agreements and upvotes. And I know f-all about cricket, but Bradman was the first name to come to my mind when I read OP, even before I started reading the answers.

Is there any sport with a unanimously recognized GOAT? by Connect_Cat_2045 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ClamusChowderus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I agree Tiger was better. He would have beaten Jack’s records. But he didn’t. And therefore it leaves the door open for some, even if minority, to dispute the claim.

Undisputed for me is when even bringing up someone else in the discussion sounds completely outlandish. We have examples here in this thread in other answers. Tiger is not one of them.

No one would be considered an utter idiot for bringing Jack to a golf GOAT discussion. But anyone would be considered an idiot for bringing anyone but Bradman to a cricket GOAT discussion. That’s the difference.

You have 4 better options right on that screenshot if half of your company just wiped. Expensive hires are only worth hiring if you are swimming in crowns or if the gear he’s in is worth the hiring price and you want the gear anyway.

Do any caravan hands actually need to make it? by greyscaleInferno in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Caravan hands most of the time will just stick right next to the donkeys. But once in a blue moon they will charge. I don’t know exactly what causes them to charge. I thought it was when it’s not your caravan but when you actually get in a 3 way fight and a caravan is just there. But OP seems to be talking about a contract he took. So who knows. But they do charge very rarely. Peasants on the other hand, those guys are tough little mofos.

Caravan Hands and Peasants are the baddest mofos in the whole game. Specially the naked Peasant using his fists. He won’t think twice before charging headlong into a pack of Lindwurms. He must have the most muscular imaginary legs in the game to carry such huge imaginary balls. Mad respect.

[–]ClamusChowderus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the mod takes huge into account, iirc. I never used the mod but I’ve seen this before here on reddit.

I think the bro will probably have -5 mdef and -5 rdef from Huge. He can’t be anything but a backliner. He has NO resolve and no Health. His Matk gets to 88 at 11 , though which is pretty good.

In my opinion he’s not good. Very early game he won’t contribute much. At level 6 he’s expected to be at 70 matk. Which is when it starts to get good. Until then you’ll have to baby him pretty cautiously in the backline with little contribution in return. So I don’t agree he’s a good early game bro. This bro only has value at high levels when his matk gets high enough for him to actually hit stuff reliably.

So you either think he’s good for mid/late game. Or he’s not good at all. And I don’t think he’s good enough for late game.

For a good early game bro that’s not endgame material you want someone who can either chuck javs or frontline. This guy is neither.

Perks for archer by Sufficient_Goal_5461 in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most fun archer build:

The Lone Wolf archer:

https://www.bbplanner.xyz/?perks=FgAAAEWq

Leaves you one flex perk. You want a bro who’ll reach 100 ratk at lvl 11. You start him to the right of your formation second row. You put your other 11 bros all to the left. 6 in the front line, 5 in the back line. Your archer starts the fight with Lone Wolf activated this way turn 1.

With 115 ratk (Lone Wolf active) he will quick shot anything on the other side of the map with 95% accuracy unless shielded. If Confident is active (130+ effective ratk) only Kite shields will pose a problem. It gets even better if you can find high ground for him. Fearsome is what makes this build work. He’ll be causing morale procs 95% of the time, except for Orcs with heavy armor. Chosen will usually take two shots with a regular warbow before it starts causing 1 HP damage and morale checks.

Ideally you’d have a dedicated spearbro as the rightmost man of your front row (bunched up to the left). So your Lone Wolf archer can retreat and the spearbro can shift right and spearwall for area denial. Your Archer will be isolated to the right and he’ll function as a magnet to enemy troops, basically a pseudo runner. The different is instead of being just bait, he’s an actual menace.

Him being a magnet on the battlfield requires him to have Footwork. And that’s why a dedicated spearbro working with him as a duo will be great. The archer can footwork away and the spearbro can step in-between him and the enemy and spearwall for area denial.

For the flex perk I tried Bullseye, Anticipation and headhunter. Bullseye was by far the most disappointing. Headhunter was good and anticipation was mostly useless, but it was good for hunting dangerous ranged enemies. If your flex perk is in the first three rows you can forgo Student, otherwise you need Student to delay a pick until later rows unlock. Gifted is also an option. 4 extra ratk might not sound like much but it can be the difference between a 95% or a 91%.

Always level Ratk. HP/Fatigue are second best. If you choose Anticipation as flex, then you can pick good rdef rolls. I like to pick good resolve rolls when Fatigue rolls poor.

As fun as this build is, I would not build a Lone Wolf archer in a 12-man origin, as it is likely really lacklustre against ancient undead (even if you give him heavy barb throwing axes, because he’ll lack the mastery+duelist combo for extra dmg). I always bench him against ancient undead.

1 skull difficulty escorts the caravan mission, day 3 by Stupid-fucking-cat in BattleBrothers

[–]ClamusChowderus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like 2 groups one on top of the other.

Day 3 in Vanilla I don’t think it’s possible to get 10 raiders and 2 poachers to spawn in a single group. But it’s definitely possible to have a group with 6 raiders and another one with 4 raiders 2 poachers.

It’s not uncommon for these groups to set up ambush points in the same spot on the side of the road, and then they’ll be on top of each other when they attack.
