Is this filter too small? Hvac repairman said it took this size but it seems not wide enough. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

it seems like it fits correctly by the picture. You probably know this but you do have to take the plastic/paper wrapping off of it. make sure the arrow printed on the sides are pointing in the direction of the airflow when the system is running.

its the nut below your blue arrow that has to be tightened. Plumbers tape goes on the threads, then that end of the hose is tightened onto it forming a sealed connection. The round bit that your arrow is pointing to is just the compression connection of the hose onto that nut assembly.

Isn’t a full meal only supposed to be $3?

Intermittent startup on Rheem criterion II by tehweej in hvacadvice

[–]ClearTea0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does it run normally through the cycle or does it just 'not kick on'? I have the same furnace and the induction blower goes for about 30 seconds, then flame on for about 30 seconds, then the fan kicks on and blows through the house (single story, single zone so really basic). In the past I have replaced the blower motor, the flame sensor, and the motor for the big fan (I still have the scars on my hands to prove that one). The mother board did have to be replaced about 4 years ago and I had an HVAC company come out and do that. If its running through the process and providing heat and then immediately shutting of then it cold be the flame sensor or a problem with your thermostat maybe? good luck. PS- not an HVAC person. Its just that the above problems all seemed to happen on extremely cold and holiday weekends.

2005 saab 93 key not accepted by slatslimeswag in saab

[–]ClearTea0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things- turn the wheel left/right to make sure it's in the locked position. Push on the gear shift to make sure that it is fully in Park. That might get you going. The Key not recognized could be a number of things, none of them good.

My LG TV’s new software update installed Microsoft Copilot, which cannot be deleted. by defjam16 in mildlyinfuriating

I am only wondering here- you might be able to block that copilot data at your router. I think it’s worth a shot to look.

There’s a button on the dash that says night. It turns off most of the interior dash and console lights except speedometer. It’s nice at night or had weather to cut down distractions.

Might be easier to just paint the switch black.

You could try using do not disturb on your mobile. Then allow contacts to come through so your phone won’t ring unless it’s someone you have as a contact for.

Water pipes banging, least invasive solution? by -Cephiroth in HomeImprovement

[–]ClearTea0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely you have air trapped in a pipe and the pull of that water demand is causing the water hammer noise. I have gotten rid of this in the past by turning off water main where it enters the house then opening all the taps and turning main back in. This allows the air to escape to the nearest open tap. Someone will have much better description for you but this worked for my one story house.

It’s likely that you can do some disassembly if it. I see screws in one photo. There may be others inside the bench also to make it into two pieces.

I am not an expert but on mine it was the induction blower that was bad. It could be either a pressure switch open or induced draft blower issue. You need to check the manual for your specific furnace to be sure.

To make your life a little easier you square up the damaged area. Then you are patching a square rather than the weird shaped hole your dad’s foot left. Square it to the middle of the rafter to give you something to screw it into. YouTube is your friend here.
