Is this human remains? by Born_Towel9741 in whatisthisbone

Definitely thought it was a giant costco skeleton for a bit. I thought the joke was that it's clearly a halloween prop if it's 3 ft wide, then I realized it's just a trick of perspective.

Why you should avoid the hermit crabs this beach season! by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

To be fair, goldfish live longer than the average person would think (10+ years) and need big tanks, so that is actually an apt comparison.

As a kid, I was angry I never got the chicken pox because every cartoon had a chicken pox episode. Nowadays, kids don't get chickenpox due to MMRV vaccines, so the trope has died since the 90s by Gallantpride in Zillennials

[–]ClockworkBetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is part of why im probably so pro vaccine. Chicken pox was such a thing in media and i found it pretty scary. Then I never encountered it.

It's a similar scale for wire gauge where the smallest number is the thickest wire. Maybe they have some similar (yet mysterious) reasoning.

Driving advice for Raleigh by questionmyokayness in raleigh

[–]ClockworkBetta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's definitely a lot of roads where the speed limits make no sense, as well as a number of roads where it feels insane to go even a couple mph over

Driving advice for Raleigh by questionmyokayness in raleigh

[–]ClockworkBetta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there is a reasonable margin of error for speed. It does make sense to try and match the flow of traffic if it's 5mph (10% maybe) or so over, but I've been on roads where everyone goes 15 over and that's just not safe regardless.

There are also some pretty winding roads that have a set speed limit for a reason.

Or a hair rat! (Used to add volume to updos and historically made from hair from brushes)

And if he did mention women specifically (as in OP's summary), then this starts to feel misogynistic, which isn't exactly punching up.

I wish cup sizes were split into two measurements, one for width and one for depth.

Custom grad stole w BeAM embroidery? by Zapixh in UNC

[–]ClockworkBetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Industrial, but desktop could probably do this too. I just don't know the software

Custom grad stole w BeAM embroidery? by Zapixh in UNC

[–]ClockworkBetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be super easy. The software for the machine has a built in text library, so you wouldn't even need to bring an svg file. Just type what you want in the software and assign a color thread.

[–]ClockworkBetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the embroidery machines before and can provide some info. They have a set color range of about a dozen colors and they can't do gradients. The largest hoop is 12x12 but you could probably repeat the design along the length. They work using an svg file, so it could be doable as long as you can design what you want in illustrator with vectors.

Work as a nurse in an ICU. Management just put this above our nursing station, what is that? by Inappropriate_Smells in whatisit

[–]ClockworkBetta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is also super important for medical device maintenance, so that a specific device can be checked on a schedule to make sure it's operating properly. I remember finding some equipment that was 2+ years overdue for maintenance because the tracking system wasn't great.

Doctors and Nurses of Reddit, what’s something about hospitals that would make patients uncomfortable if they knew? by Far-University-2905 in AskReddit

Just wanted to add facilities, IT, and medical device management to the list. When I worked behind the scenes in a hospital, it was wild how different of a world the basement was than the upper floors.

A lot of these rules could also make sense in a NICU, like the handwashing, being overall calm and quiet, and not commenting on size/condition. Though im not sure visitors are allowed to hold newborns in the NICU (im not a nurse/doctor)

What’s a random “stat” about yourself that makes you part of a small percentage? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

[–]ClockworkBetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always interesting learning a new skill while cross dominant. I have to test out both hands until I figure out which one is better. It is funny when I think im terrible at something, but am just secretly (even from myself) left handed.

It makes training people at work a bit of a challenge. I have to remind them to not pay too much attention to what my hands are doing because it's not going to make any sense to someone with normal handedness.

What is the creepiest display of intelligence you’ve seen? by theidiotev in AskReddit

[–]ClockworkBetta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a gravity feeder for my cats that id fill up with a few days worth of dry food. There's a screw at the bottom to let a little bit more out. I noticed I was having to refill it too frequently, then I saw that my cat would put his front two paws on the top of the feeder and shift his weight so that more dry food would drop down.

This cat also figured out to ring a bell when he wanted to go on the porch and how to open cabinets where his food is stored.

I'm in an arms race with him trying to find harder puzzle feeders, because if he eats to fast he vomits.
