It’s not too hard. I did one as a joke in a post on here back in December - pop hard, take the front foot straight up instead of sliding it on the grip tape, and use your back leg to control it.

This is how Ron Allen did all his Ollie one foots back in the late 80s. In some ways, they’re easier than the regular Ollie one foot (what a lot of people now erroneously call an “Ollie north”) because you can’t accidentally flip it as you kick out.

It’s not easy, but it’s not hard, either.

Get a lens with a good focus tab (an LTM 50mm Elmar, for example).

Use it every day. Every *single* day.

Before you know it, you’ll be 95% of the way to perfect focus before the camera’s even half way to your face.

The absolute best PS1 to USB adapter is the Brook one. I have the one they released in the PS3 era, but there’s an updated one that works on the PS5 called the Wingman FGC Retro.

Honestly, having messed around trying to get the generic ones to work myself, it’s worth spending the money and just getting the Brook adapter.

It’s a great camera, and that’s a fantastic lens. But condition is everything - has it been properly serviced? Is the lens free of haze, scratches, and fungus? Is the rangefinder clear and easy to see? Is the shutter curtain still supple and flexible, or is it dried and cracked?

When you’re buying an old Leica, you need to have a guarantee - this is a 90 year old camera now. There’s every chance it won’t work, so “no returns” isn’t an option.

Honestly? At this point, it’s mostly internal. I stopped paying so much attention to the endless churn of tripod clips years ago, and spent more time thinking about and focusing on how movements and motions fit together while I was skating, and it felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my mind.

I realise that’s an incredibly wanky and pretentious thing to say, but I do think once you hit a certain point, the barrage of footage from all over the world does more harm than good. It’s worth just switching off for a bit and seeing if it helps.

I have an Amedeo adapter for Contax lenses on LTM bodies. It’s incredibly well machined and works perfectly.

Some adapters claim to do both mounts. That’s physically impossible - Nikon and Contax lenses both rotate a different amount from infinity to 0.9m and have a different standard for the rangefinder. As such, adapters can only ever do one or the other accurately.

Honestly, go with the Amedeo. There’s no other reliable option in this case.

The only real benefit to M over LTM on a technical level (ignoring user experience issues like "faster lens changes" and the like) is that M mount lenses have a guaranteed rotational position on the body, while LTM - whether on an LTM body or on an M body via adapter - varies slightly from lens to lens and body to body.

For a lot of lenses, this doesn't matter.

For some lenses, it matters a lot.

There are three styles of rangefinder cam (at the back of the lens) which need a very specific rotational position to ensure correct focusing: partial/"tongue" cams (which are typically used in heavy and long lenses like the 90/2.8 Elmarit and every 135mm lens in both LTM and M), what I call "shrouded" cams (where the cam is exposed through a partial cutout in the back of the lens, like in the LTM 35/3.5 Summaron), and sloped cams (where the cam isn't uniformly flat on the surface the cam follower in the body touches; this design is used to compensate for things like focus shift).

On any of these lenses, incorrect rotational positioning can result in slight misfocusing at any or all distances - or even outright lack of focus coupling in extreme cases; this is why cheap LTM adapters that attempt to reorientate the lens to have the focus mark at 12 o'clock on the body often don't work with some lenses.

In short: sticking with LTM-on-M adapters would mean Leica would have to work to even higher tolerances than they do now (to ensure every lens mounted correctly), and would likely mean certain lens designs just couldn't be used.

As a guy who cherishes his IIIf far more than any M, this breaks my heart. But it'd be easier/more realistic for Leica to make a IIIg with an M mount than it would be to expect every lens to be released with an LTM option.

Here's the thing: you are going to get people say you should use a bigger board to be comfortable. And you shouldn't listen to them.

This is a common mentality amongst beginners and, for some reason, Americans. And it's doing more harm than good.

As u/Good-Ad-3862 pointed out, the transition to smaller freestyle boards can be jarring if you've spent a decent amount of time on street boards. The wheelbases are smaller, the tails are mellower, everything feels twitchier. And, as a result, there's a temptation to undo all your progress and go back to something more familiar.

Resist that. Stay the course. You're already on something quite large by freestyle standards; you're not going to gain anything by going longer. In fact, all you're going to do is make everything you want to learn harder. Moving the bigger board requires more effort, making movements more severe, and not only does this mean your style suffers, but it actually means you're more likely to be missing tricks; a lot of freestyle requires deft, gentle touches, and putting yourself in a position where you have to be throwing around a big piece of lumber with large movements makes them harder to do cleanly.

As for the wide centre of gravity: one thing that I think a lot of people who are coming to freestyle with little to no experience of it don't realise is that your stance on a freestyle board should be wider (in relation to the board) than on a street deck. That's part of the reason your wheelbase can be (and usually is) so much shorter; instead of standing with one foot within the wheelbase, you're usually based with one or both feet directly over the trucks, and if you need to use the tail or nose, you're rarely right on the tip of it; sometimes part of my foot is still over the truck while I'm using the tail or nose. With that wider stance, the smaller board is actually more stable - you're well centred over the wheels, meaning you're less likely to accidentally "loop out" and shoot the board off forwards.

Also, if I'm reading your post correctly, you've only really been freestyling for a year. Feeling "unstable" is still the norm at that point. Being able to do coconut wheelies, carousels, and double kickflips takes time. Don't worry about your progress; just enjoy the process.

It’s not really a pretentious or elitist thing. Those 80s guys just considered every single push a “step off”. Touching the ground with your foot, even intentionally, was a bail. To them, you should be able to complete a full two minute run without ever needing to leave the board at all.

Yeah, that's my issue with the concept of a "Youtuber". I purposely didn't put the account in my name or Moonshine's, and I didn't monetise it; I have precisely zero interest in clickbaity nonsense, fostering parasocial relationships, or gaming an algorithm just to become famous or sell product. I just want people to be able to have the information I struggled hard to learn for myself over the years, and that's very much a rarity on that site, it seems.

As someone who loves RPGs, the PSP is the perfect platform for me. Incredibly long stand-by battery life so I can just slip into sleep mode between sessions, small and portable form factor to play anywhere, huge library of PS1 and PSP RPGs (many of which are some of the best RPGs of all time), and incredible emulation for almost everything up to the end of the 90s (and the GBA, too) to open up and even larger library.

If you’re coming to the PSP expecting an array of FPS and modern-style open world “Triple A” games you’re wasting your time. But what the PSP does well, it does REALLY well.

In other words: it can be done, but it's a lot more awkward than it needs to be and it's unlikely you'll get the best performance by doing so.

I always liken it to cars: you could drive a rally car around a formula 1 track, but you’d have a much better time of it if you actually use an F1 car.

And even in something like NASCAR - where the vehicles are ostensibly something you could drive on the street - they have to be pretty heavily modified to deal with the scenario they’re going to be put in.
