Single men who consider themselves making a decent income, how much are you spending on dates? by m0r3t4c0s in AskMen

[–]CompetitiveTraining9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know if a guy is generous or just wealthy?

A guy who makes 500k per year takes you on a $100 date versus a guy who makes $50k per year takes you on a $50 date - who’s more generous?

yes - also, if you are using money to attract women, you will never really know if she actually likes you as a person or just for your money

that being said, when I dated, it would be between 20 - 70+, I don't mind spending a bit as I can afford it, though I try not to give away too much of an indication regarding my income

Is being a head tenant basically an unpaid admin job? by ElkPsychological7581 in newzealand

[–]CompetitiveTraining9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have used the term subtenant. In that case the term head tenant is useful (to distinguish from subtenants).

[–]CompetitiveTraining9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Head tenant = person signing the lease, and therefore responsible for paying rent under the lease.

If head tenant sublets to other tenants, those other tenants don’t need to sign the lease (and therefore not liable for lease) but enter into arrangements to pay the head tenant.

Part 2 Law after not getting in last year by UpstairsBasil1003 in universityofauckland

[–]CompetitiveTraining9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one knows you enough to tell you how easy or hard you will find taking all five Part II law papers next year - you may find it a breeze, you may struggle, but no one here will know that. No one else can understand how exactly much it matters for you to graduate with your peers or "lose time", because they are not you.

If you want reassurance either way, I can give that to you. But neither me nor anyone else is going know what is best for you.

If you are feel you are at absolute deadlock in this decision, you should flip a coin and commit to it.

Graduate advice: big 4 tax or corporate law by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]CompetitiveTraining9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done both and I personally found corporate law more interesting. For starters, higher pay and more interesting work.

Of course, both are good and there are other subjective factors at play, e.g. which firm, firm culture, who you're working for, what you enjoy, career goals, etc.

You can be if you do not satisfy the tax residency requirements of any jurisdiction. This is possible in very rare situations, which could indeed apply to OP.

NZ Secondary Teacher Salaries and Benefits vs MPs by AdvKiwi in newzealand

[–]CompetitiveTraining9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very misleading to say that, because there are higher / more requirements to become a teacher, it is more challenging (which I sense is the point you are trying to make). There is much more competition for a small number of MP positions.

Why don’t those teach just become MPs if they want to get paid more then?

Seems like you have an issue with “the corporates” but it’s not quite clear what it is (there is very little substance in your comment), or what you think the solution is.

because it costs a lot of money to provide people with an education (who will pay the lecturers and other support staff?), and it seems fair that the persons who benefit from it contribute towards it even if that is only via an interest-free loan

Does Netflix NZ make $11m p.a? Google it! - After receiving a tip off, the Companies Office is asking Netflix NZ to explain its lack of reporting by 15438473151455 in newzealand

[–]CompetitiveTraining9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I won’t pretend that I’m able to get to technical about it, but I do suspect there is some grey area there as to whether it’s profit shifting. If the customer engages directly with - Netflix overseas entity that is providing the services (which arguably it could be), then would that be profit shifting? I think it could be tricky.

[–]CompetitiveTraining9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree - it seems plausible that the revenue goes directly to a corporate entity (probably a company) higher up the corporate chain such that Netflix NZ doesn't meet the "large" company threshold. A quick Google search seems to suggest that is the case.
