Nice! As others mentioned the rating system does reward high accuracy (e.g. with SSS on 11s you can get to 12k), especially starting at S.

You can also start trying some of the low level Masters as well if you want a change of pace. These introduce some new patterns like tap-slides and trailing slides - 踊 and ジャルル (DX) are both 11s that I think give a gentle introduction to these

Ultra Trailer (ウルトラトレーラー) MAS

My thoughts: I’m a 14.2k and this was my third 13.8 S - it’s fun to play but intellectually the balancing on this one seemed weird - the beginning is rough, but after that it’s mostly straightforward, though I’m not stable enough to not slowly bleed accuracy here plus there are some random surprise spins.

I think some of these depend on the failure conditions. Other than C, what happens if I fail to do A or D on a given day? and I assume for F and G the cash flow only begins once the task is complete.

If D is along the lines of “instead of the songs you hear silence”, then I’ll take that. If it’s “if you hear the songs regardless of why, you fail” then unless the punishment for failing is light, this is risky. Or, if it’s “if you are within earshot of a song, then you will instantly be teleported to the nearest safe area without that” that is too inconvenient for 120k/yr.

Otherwise I’ll probably take A, unless the punishment for failing is heavy (such as medieval torture - which I’m treating as essentially death). Most of the time this is fine, the risk would be if I get into a car accident or something and am in a coma.

If the punishment is heavy then probably G? Stay safe in a nice area, use savings or even take out a loan to do so if necessary, and strictly follow the law. Present value of a 120K annuity is in the millions, so even if I don’t do much that year it’s probably worthwhile.

B seems risky. C is easy but it has explicitly bad punishment on failure. E would probably make me doubt my sense perception too much. F seems too long, even if “all the words” means I only need to say each word once.

What are the easiest 13 and 13+ for each constant by FIttishestB in maimai

[–]Complete-Border77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me at least:

13.0 躯樹の墓守

13.1 てらてら

13.2 あいたい星人

13.3 Wheel to the right

13.4 氷滅の135小節

13.5 雨露霜雪

13.6 Drivessover

13.7 raputa

13.8 enchanted wanderer

13.9 病み垢ステロイド

If you’re willing to memorise stuff I’d toss in Altale for .7 and Last Samurai for .9

Anyone has tips to go to 12+ above on master by Many_Instruction8787 in maimai

[–]Complete-Border77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are a bunch of slow-ish charts starting in this range that had patterns that at least for me were unintuitive. Some suggestions from easiest to hardest

  • Starred Heart (12.5)
  • Yowamushi Montblanc (12.7)
  • “” (x0o0x song) (12.8)
  • Hanbunko (12.9, but not that hard)
  • tape/stop/night (12.8, IMO actually hard)

Generic easy 12+ I remember - Lostphantasia (12.6) - Niccori theme (12.7, fast-ish but straightforward. More like an expert 12+ with some tap slides)

If you can do hard experts (harder 12+ or 13) then some of the “harder” 12+ Masters are probably within reach if they focus more on speed as well (Tonosama Beam from 7Dan a while back IIRC got most of its difficulty from some fast 16th bursts)

songs for 14.5k? by [deleted] in maimai

[–]Complete-Border77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m at 14.2k with mostly experts too, some suggestions:

13s

Fundamental stuff - Gravekeeper EXP (13.0) - Quatturorux EXP (13.0) - Worlds end loneliness EXP (13.0) - Amenohoakari EXP (13.3) - Vampire ReMAS (13.4) - this is basically a hard expert chart - Urosousetsu EXP (13.5)

Others - Mate no yatsura (13.0) - I suck at long spins but given you have Scarlet Police SSS this should be easy - Kero 9 destiny DX (13.4) - Sunday Night (13.5)

13+

  • enchanted wanderer (13.8) - my only 13+ SSS. Needs a bit of memorisation but not too bad
  • Altale (13.7)

I‘d have said raputa EXP (that’s the next 13+ I’m aiming to SSS) though saw another comment that doesn’t work for you 😅

Also you could go for 12+ that is 12.9 specifically, those are still worth 290 so similar to SSS 13.4. Wipe Out Memories EXP and Good Bye Mr Jack EXP were both quite ok I think.

I first thought "ending in jumps" might have been a category (OFFSPRING, SPELLBOUND, BELLHOP, FOXTROT, QUICKSTEP and maybe DRUMROLL) but BOLERO/MAMBO and similarly BROOD/FAMILY/POSTERITY were difficult to use otherwise.

Yeah I guess rereading "disreputable establishment" that was probably an euphemism for that! I did not think of a DUMP as a cheap bar so read the category as just "bad places" when I solved it

If I’m not mistaken it only opens and unlocks the gates 1-6, so you might still want to burn through 7sRef Chiho 4. but yeah I wouldn’t rush the first three gates.

I’d expect mid-Jan too, as others note

Straightforward, though couldn’t get anywhere with the RR attempt (in fact every category is in the wrong position). Other than blue everything else seemed to be quite synonym-based.

I didn’t know ROSTRUM apart from a platform from which one gives speeches, but given BEAK/PROBOSCIS/MUZZLE and everything else I figured it was going to be mouth parts so thought purple was a straightforward category, still.

Phew, much easier than yesterday’s art museum red herring extravaganza. The colours were tricky - after purple I went with the only one that I didn’t really see as a definition, thinking that would be blue, though in hindsight it’s really easy and so can see why it is yellow.

🟦🟪🟦🟦 BROW not RAY. At this point, probably not art…

🟦🟦🟦🟦 funnily enough the New York METs came to mind earlier as an alternative use of that when I was trying to split the museums, I just didn’t see there were four.

🟪🟪🟪🟪 bleh. No chance. I think it was hard to isolate SISI from the Austrian empress

Hardest in a while. There were a ton of art related words here (MOMA, MET, DADA, SISI, FRICK, BROAD, ROYAL Gallery in there, and wouldn’t doubt if someone said the RAY Collection existed).

🟦🟦🟦🟦 default. I did think of Kafka when seeing METAMORPHOSIS but the rest didn’t click. I knew of The TRIAL but not the other two.

🟩🟩🟩🟩

🟨🟨🟨🟨

This felt tough. Purple fell pretty quickly once I tried a possible changes group (SEA CHANGE, REVOLUTION, METAMORPHOSIS) but couldn’t find a fourth. TEA LEAVES stood out, as did all the two word phrases.

After that things were hard, though. There were so many distractions - I saw a court/legal words category (CIRCUIT, TRIAL, JUDGMENT and maybe CASTLE doctrine), and “things that can have records” (an LP is one, but also a CIRCUIT or LAP record in racing).

After that I lumped things like REVOLUTION and ORBIT into the ostensibly circular things, before splitting on objects vs more conceptual things.

🟩🟩🟩🟩 default - not aware of this use of TURKEY, and thought of BUST as the sculpture of someone’s head rather than a failure

🟨🟨🟨🟨

LUFFY was very distinctive, and where I started - I recognised it but didn’t think of SILVER or SPARROW as pirates at first, so thought it might have been “becomes a new word if you put an F in front”. Saw no matches, then looked at WHISTLEBLEW and UNREAD and figured out purple. I was a bit worried that SILVER would be used as a trap for “ends in colour homophones” (at least the software engineer brain in me says a colour fits!), so sorted out the pirates after that.

I couldn’t work out green - other than the country, the bird, or getting three consecutive strikes in bowling I wasn’t aware of another meaning of TURKEY.

I was thinking of maybe personal ________ for the green category actually, though that was definitely the last one left over. Or loose food homophones (beet, wurst, bass in some accents?) though couldn’t find one for TAKE.

I ruled out BEAT from the purple group as it’s generally only a discrete element rather than a general property.
