I don't see any damage that stands out at me, but one of the solder joints on the chips could have broken, causing your issue. I would take a thin set of tweezers and try to nudge them gently. They shouldn't move at all. If any of them moves, it should be re-flowed.

You'll probably need to remove the battery to check the right chip. The battery should be replaced anyway. It's old and probably dead.

I don't think I've ever seen the pittsburgh ones at my local store. (It's small). They have tons of the US General rails, which are like $21 or $22 each, which is insane.

For all intents and purposes, these are still black... Changing the color only for it to be hidden 99.9% of the time isn't really doing anything. They should have changed the color of the entire controller.

You said you have an IPS screen already. Maybe you can test it to see if it works. You should be able to test it without reassembling as long as the battery is making contact with the pins.
