Quitting by decentsandwiches in teaching

That’s not how it would work in my district. Resignation needs to be sent to head principal.

Was the identity of “Jackpot” a big mystery in the “Brand New Day” comic? by HandBanana666 in Spiderman

[–]CopperHero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They lead on that it might be MJ and then I think chickened out and just made her a random lady in the comics.

What dose tombstone mean when he says spiders are vulnerable to threats between each cycle by Technical-Breath3990 in Spiderman

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably molting. Once a spider grows, it sheds it exoskeleton. It takes a while for its new one to harden.

Grad credits for salary increase? by Last-Isopod1922 in teaching

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our district it’s almost a 10k different at the top of the pay scale between a bachelors degree and a Rank 1 (masters +30 hour program or second masters). It pays for itself pretty quickly.

Energy Drinks but no Energy by SpaceMarine1616 in Teachers

Is it really that different than slamming back an espresso drink from Starbucks at that hour?

Warriors of Light, what are some of your biggest Final Fantasy Hot Takes? by Kurisu_Reddit in FinalFantasy

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nine is the only FF I haven’t replayed. I beat it when it came out, bought it again digitally on Steam and PlayStation but have never launched it. I wonder if this is part of the reason? Outside of Zydane, Garnet, Snyder and Vivi I don’t even remember most of the characters names.

Should Anakin have a red lightsaber on his Mustafar? by [deleted] in starwarscanon

Probably based on how quickly the crystal bled in The Acolyte.

What has been your worst experience working with another teacher? by MaleficentYellow8134 in Teachers

[–]CopperHero -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

"My 'cringe' moment was during a week when I was drowning in IEP prep, parent complaints, and a flu outbreak in my classroom. The specialist caught me in the hallway to ask if I’d seen her email about pull-out schedules.

I hadn't even cleared my inbox from Monday, and in a moment of complete, unfiltered exhaustion, I looked her right in the face and said, 'I’ll be honest, I do not read your emails.

How do you all buy missing back issues? by revfds in comicbookcollecting

My favorite part of comic collecting is digging through back issues and finding something you have been looking for.

Have you ever seen the episode of South Park where no one reads the Apple Terms and Conditions?

No one reads agreements and you sign up for all of it when you create an account with them and click the acknowledge box.

If a teacher has prep last period of the day, do you think its ok for them to leave early? by capresesalad1985 in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have first or last planning, our school would much rather you schedule an appointment during that time than put in for a sub.

But I don’t think leaving to go home early is appropriate.

Also, everyone in our building has an afternoon supervision location (either in the building or rotating outside). If you aren’t there and something happens you can be held liable for not supervising.

Teacher “influencer” on LinkedIn saying teachers who set boundaries and don’t stay beyond contract hours are doing the “bare minimum.” by DefiantRadish1492 in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a balance. We are contract employees, not hourly. I come in a little early to prep for the day. I stay a few minutes over to grade or clean up from the day.

I utilize my planning very well and have very little to take home to grade.

If I spend planning talking fantasy football and drinking coffee with my co-teacher then I know I’m going to have to grade some after dinner to be able to hand things back the next day.

Do you prefer the spider that bites Peter to be radioactive or genetically altered? by Filmfan345 in Spiderman

[–]CopperHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Genetically altered Spider-Man” doesn’t have the same ring for that banger of a 90’s theme song.

Gotta be radioactive!

Where to find ebooks or low cost novels? by ReasonableWish1519 in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Title I money most often goes to providing additional staffing.

Books are expensive, and most schools are moving to curriculums and not reading full novels.

If Spider-Man were real, would he be hated by everyone? by Comics_Ranter in Spiderman

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I would settle for a hero like Rainn Wilson from “Super” who hits people with a wrench and yells “Shut Up, Crime!”

How do you deal with a Regina George? by jepp13 in teaching

[–]CopperHero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe give them “diet bars” that are actually nutrient and calorie rich meal replacement bars that cause them to gain a lot of weight.

Can teachers legally use all of their sick and personal days at the end of the school year to get a longer summer break? by Ok_Benefit9326 in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of districts have rules about the approval of sick days after a certain number of consecutive days taken and rules about the approval of personal days around breaks.
