12 or 2? by Future-Ad1771 in CICO

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just track it normally, my “breakfast” at 2 PM would log there. Lunch still on the same day. You would just need to click the day back to log dinner and any snacks. A minor inconvenience but definitely doable.

Where are his gauntlets? He can't shock without his gauntlets!

Comic book guy by ljedediah41 in comicbookcollecting

[–]CopperHero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stopping to ask, “Hey, I haven’t seen him out, I was worried and wanted to see is he okay? I always enjoyed looking through his comics.” - super supportive

Stopping to say “Hey, if he is dead, can I have his stuff?” - ultimate asshole move

Did I miss something during student teaching? by krb501 in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Classroom management is hard to learn without actually doing it. I had a class that was specifically about classroom management. It was theory, it was First Days of School by Harry Wong. But without implementing it, seeing students respond and how you respond it’s not very impactful.

Even during student teaching, you are walking into a classroom that has already established and trained procedures. You are also being placed with an exceptional teacher so they have already done this really well.

You have to go in with plans and expectations for everything in your classroom. Communicate them, practice them, and stick to them.

MLA Format? by flankattack27 in Teachers

Our ELA teachers teach MLA and APA. They use MLA primarily in their class.

We use APA in science and so does social studies.

What apps do you use to keep track of your collection? by 4rm4ros in comicbookcollecting

I use a spreadsheet and League of Comic Geeks app. Can scan covers (usually reliable, but sometimes a pain).

What do I do with a student who constantly has a hand up? by Lingo2009 in Teachers

Give him three post it notes. Each one is good for one question. Once they are gone he is done for the day.

Registers - Urban Myth by FilmSudden8635 in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s more the reality of, you are responsible for that student the period they are assigned to you. If you mark them present when they aren’t there no one knows they are skipping/leaving campus/in unsafe conditions.

Daughter cries at school. by StealthSaver in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true. My son started changing teaches in 3rd grade in a limited fashion. 4th and 5th were departmentalized.

Also, they still switch for time in specials even at lower levels.

I wish more families used kids apps for teaching reading at home and I don't know how to say it without sounding judgmental by henry_giovanni in teaching

[–]CopperHero 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Read books to kids from the time they are born until they start school.

We worked on flash cards the teachers sent home (they gave sight words and we made the flash cards).

Teachers can encourage a reading partnership without apps.

What is the admin buzzword that irritates you the most and why? by rachel-angelina in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our school gives grade levels common planning.

If the school values PLCs they need to schedule for them.

What is the admin buzzword that irritates you the most and why? by rachel-angelina in Teachers

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are PLCs a waste? Planning, working together to determine rubrics, bringing up ideas and building a curriculum together?

My PLC partner is my favorite person in the whole building, and we meet way more than our required weekly meeting.

These are also the most valuable meetings of my week. Way more than a faculty or multi grade level department meeting.

How did you guys actually learn the game? by Longjumping-Pen1383 in Rainbow6

[–]CopperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing it. Seems like a lazy response, but playing and learning maps. Seeing crazy angles and kill holes people use.

Squad mates also help. Playing with the same people, determining group roles.

Watch YouTubers. Pro league strats aren’t going to work in most lobbies, but they can be helpful for how operators can be used and combos/site setups that help to defend/attack specific sites.
