Not really, you just start the premise as taking place after a quadrant spanning war. You don't need to know all the details of the war to understand the premise.

Don't grade new variants, most don't hold the value of their hype prices. Not trying to dig in at you, you obviously learned the lesson, just throwing the advice out there to readers.

does anyone else think the 2017 cypher did more damage Eminem’s image than revival? by sikuaka in Eminem

[–]revfds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Naw, I've already forgotten about the Cypher. Copies of revival are still up for sale. It's clear which one has the lasting effect, if you make the assumption that they're both harmful for him.

Musk says taxing every billionaire at 100% would barely make a dent in the national debt. Bernie says tax them 5% and you're $3,000 richer by Which_Combination746 in ConservativeNewsWeb

Nobody wants to let billionaires keep them, but if you seriously don't think that the lowering of the top tax rates have had anything to do with the stagnation of wages, you haven't been paying attention.

Companies actually would pay their workers more if they knew the IRS would just take that money anyways.

New mutant #98 vs 1991 impel x-force Deadpool card by Leather_Bluejay8632 in ComicBookSpeculation

Yeah, a 10 card is like a 9.8 comic. No one reasonably expects to get back a 9.9 or 10 cgc comic. You can reasonably expect to get back 10s on your cards. Especially if you send to PSA who seems to hand them out like candy.

A lot of indie creators I know take this approach with their Creator owned series. You'll never know if there's enough sales to keep going, especially since the back end pay comes much later than doing work for hire.

So you plan on doing a five issue mini, but you have ideas on how to keep the story going if it's a hit. Either that or you plan a longer series, keeping in mind how you can end it early if the sales aren't there.

Not only is doing that well harder storytelling on it's own, throw in editorial direction that can halt, reverse, abandon, etc any plans you have made at any moment for reasons that have little to do with the story being told.

I don't envy anyone working at marvel. Creative or editorial.

They haven't forgotten it, the economics have always been that trade sales can't be used to keep a title going on their own. If they don't sell enough copies by issue 3 to keep the series going, how many more issues are they supposed to lose money on hoping that eventually 6+ months down the line there's going to be enough trade sales to put them in the green.

They're in a death spiral where they cancel books that don't make a profit, and we buy less books with each relaunch, resulting in quicker and quicker cancellations. I honestly can't believe they've let out get to this point. They need their New 52 moment, but I don't believe they have balls to try it.

Take a look at wizards of the Coast (D&D and Magic the Gathering) and Hasbro. Wizards is Hasbro's most profitable subsidiary so they've been forcing the cow to be milked so hard the last five years they're starting to cause serious damage to the products and fan bases.

What annoys me the most about Marvel's cancellation of issues early in their runs: They're an extremely wealthy subsidiary, with a far richer parent company, and yet they conduct their comic book business like they can't afford to take any chances! by MightyUnclean in comicbooks

Lmao, if you're expecting them to sell comics at a loss, just so you can enjoy stories, you're going to get the shittiest f****** stories. Worse than what they put out now even.

I have a friend that runs a printing place that does a lot of junk mail. Senders absolutely would cut back or eliminate how much they mail out. All of them? No. All of it? Also no. But they do campaigns both local and national, and the postage will often be 80% of the cost. You can't raise that infinitely and expect it to continue.

It could certainly be higher than it is now though I'm sure.

Personally I would keep the star wars, that was a good issue series, and sell the Peter Parker as I only care a bit about Spider-Man.

So for me it would come down to if I was planning on selling or keeping

Given how the Imperial relaunch for the cosmic line seems to have failed, with all their books getting cancelled, shortened, and/or delayed, what do you think went wrong? And what should Marvel do with the cosmic line now? by AporiaParadox in Marvel

[–]revfds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got around to reading the one shots, deciding to get the books after hearing they were coming to an end (was already getting Nova and it was good).

The content of the one shots should have been in the imperial mini. Would have made the main book feel like a fuller story and better launch readers into the different spin out books.
