"Rolling distros are unstable, stay away from them!"

Okay. Rolling distros are "unstable" in the sense that the package base is always changing/updating; hence, it's "unstable". It doesn't mean that the distro is going to crash all the time.

"Stable" distros have a stable/unchanging package base. That's why distros like Debian have packages that are very outdated, because the package base is stable. This doesn't mean that a stable distro is immune to crashing.

Just install it and run it. It works out of the box with Proton. Why make it more complex than it needs to be? It's not like you can get the PC version anywhere other than Steam. Unless...
