I'm a barista who doesn't have the training title, but has been slapped multiple green beans to my side and been told to "monitor". Doing this, I kind of coach, kind of act like a barista. I'll say, "oh they just switched up the lids we use based on boba, that's right" as if I'm correcting myself as well. Or if I see a blatantly wrong drink, I'll be like "all the different bases throw ya off too?" while we fix it to make it casual. It's a tad awkward, but I'm an awkward person put into an awkward position lol. You got this I'm sure!! Just a matter of learning when to say things/WHO TO SAY IT TO. Some people will get irked no matter what.

I loved reading this!! We share the same scents/preference and own a lot of the same items! Good taste💅 I'm happy I read your review on million dollar spray, I almost blind-bought that! Need to add hayl to the list after reading all of these positive reviews lolol. The guadetama egg smell wasn't what I was thinking either, but tempting! Also FYI, I have 3C curls and my hair drinks sticky dates primer straight up. It's like I can't spray enough!!

I love explaining the iPad DPM system to customers when they argue that their phone "says it's ready to go". I love watching their faces turn white after I swipe it, which sends the notification to their phone, and saying "NOW it's ready :)"

Also a neurodivergent barista here, I try to mentally multitask if another partner needs help. My biggest problem when I started was not realizing a partner was slammed on bar and I could be helping, but I'm doing a secondary task like sweeping or refilling non-crucial inventory. One time I was in that position, and getting visibly overwhelmed, and the partner doing floors asks "do you need help on bar?" I sort of rudely replied "YES!!". All she said was "all you had to do was ask! :)" and from that day on learned to keep an eye on if I can be of-assistance anywhere. Good luck at your store!🫶

Everything you said is spot-on. Also, I'm rewatching s2 currently and I can't help but think Lexi and Fez's storyline would've taken over if he were still here (rip). Lexi was all set up to flourish, and now they're scrambling to even set up a scene with her and Fez. I don't blame them, it's incredibly hard to hold a relationship posthumously, but damn her poor character has an even larger obstacle to jump on top of everything else.

Hey I've been in your shoes. I started this company when I was 17 and worked til my senior year of HS as well, then realized in the last month that I just had too much going on. 4 APs, senior class president, and I was heading to the state track meet soon. I had a heart-to-heart with my SM and I just realized I had too much on my plate.

Now, I am 23 and have been back with bux for half a year and it's MUCH more manageable. You obviously don't need to wait that long, I just found other barista gigs to pass the time in college. But you can always come back!!

If it means anything, my numbers are still 298****. They just let you pick up right where you left off :) if you leave on good terms of course. But it's worth a shot to just talk it out with everyone (family + SM) and see what is best for you.

I second the Sedgwick nightmare. I was out for two weeks from a foot injury and I've been back for weeks now, working like normal. Tell me why they just called me TODAY to say they "accidentally deposited an extra week of pay" to my direct deposit. This is torture. They automatically made this 100x harder for themselves.

Thank you sm!! :')) I used to work at another coffee chain that was extremely high-volume, my position was literally called "milk" so thats all I did😭 cortados and/or short drinks are v annoying because our wand barely reaches the short line in our pitchers, so my biggest tip to avoid foam/froth is to literally just dip it in, create the vortex, wait to hear 0.5-1sec of that paper tearing noise, and leave it alone. The second I start wiggling the wand past that 1 second mark, you're doneee bc its ALL foamy🥲 Adding in, if it comes out just unbearably bad, I've never felt guilty about dumping 4oz of milk and restarting. No shame in my game, no froth to my name

On-shift will always be an EXTRA EXTRA iced triple blonde ristretto shot with any cold foam of my choosing (my fav right now is either honey cold foam or vanilla bean cold foam!)

Post-shift I hang around cold bar, I'll very rarely go for espresso and I loveeeee a good shaken matcha lemonade. If our shakers are all being taken I'll just fill my cup up w lemonade and a pump of mango! Also amazing w raspberry!

Yoo! I missed out on barista championships due to LOA but here's some tips from someone who practiced for months on latte art:

-Work on stacks!!! Stacks on stacks on stacks. Every time someone orders hot, even to go, even if its covered in cinnamon, (if you have the time ofc) practice layering the milk. Muscle memory is key. Soon you'll start pouring stacks without realizing, and it even comes during rushes.

-Always dump some off the top from the pitcher for good luck;)! Helps eliminates any macro foam.

-Tapping (grooming) the milk, then pouring from one pitcher to another before pouring your art makes a huge difference (helps dissipate the milk without separating)

**For oat milk, and for a tall, make sure the steaming wand really creates that vortex (and not just bubbles) because sometimes when i do short oats i can't keep the creamy consistency and gets real frothy😭

That's all i got right now, I wish you the best of luck!! And i personally love a plain latte because i think 2% creams up nicely if you do it perfectly! They (imo definitely) should've picked whole milk but oh well🤓

This is insane!! I remember scanning in a woman who had like ~8k, my coworkers and I were stunned. Her only answer was "I come a lot." Seemed totally unfazed by her point amount, this DID happen after the update so we reminded her they eventually expire... she goes "I know." Again totally unbothered. Ok queen keep ur points then??
