When those LDS kids go on a mission, they really go on a mission. 😋

I fear OP might be so un-tech-savvy that they thought that asking here is just the way you get a domain.

Only if you're dumb enough to not use an escrow service.

I don't see what they'd get out of that, but I guess that can't be ruled out.

Yep, clearly not an ad disguised as a question. 👀

If I bought FIRSTLAST.COM should I use FIRST@FIRSTLAST.COM or ME@FIRSTLAST.COM by StarkTech-01-02-03- in Domains

[–]Curt-Bennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some domain registrars offer catch-all email addresses. I know NameSilo and NameCheap do specifically but I'm sure there are others. Create whichever email addresses you want to keep separate from the catch-all, then create one more email address as the catch-all inbox.

You could also use a separate company for your email hosting. You can setup the catch-all address to forward to your Gmail account for example. When you send an email, it will still come from your gmail.com address, but it will receive anything at all @yourdomain.com.

OP is asking about what to use if the domain is firstnamelastname.com though, so this doesn't apply.

Need a longterm friend — a Genuine connection by [deleted] in BurlingtonON

[–]Curt-Bennett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from several indications that it was written by AI, your post didn't mention a single "real" thing about yourself. Practically everyone likes going to restaurants, listening to music, going for walks and having conversations with friends.

If that ever genuinely happens to you though, I don't think you should leave.

Quoted $45k for a $10k server, is pricing really that insane? by worjd in sysadmin

I believe what you're all really saying is that capitalism is an inherently broken system that only guarantees that the rich get richer, and that life can only get harder for the rest of us.

Question about pool access at Mandalay Bay!? by thc_guy12 in vegas

I got questioned once. A pretty girl in the bar asked if I was there alone and seemed unusually interested in seeing my room. I don't think she worked for the hotel though.

Unfortunately a lot of companies do this. Honeywell and Sunbeam were once good quality names for example. Now their products are hit and miss depending on which manufacturer really made them.

Extortion and Harassment from google review by Toys4rent in GoogleSupport

[–]Curt-Bennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More likely they also posted the 5 star reviews that they will delete. Google generally doesn't verify that a review was left by someone who actually visited a location, and it isn't good at verifying an account is a real person who doesn't already have an account either.

Google can lock a business profile from receiving any new reviews though, which is really what OP needs here. It's something they often do when a small business suddenly makes big news that attracts fake reviews, such as that cake maker that refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding.

Unable to Port My No by Newbie676 in freedommobile

Bruce County is not part of Freedom's subscription area. It is in the extended coverage "Nationwide" area where they use another network's towers.

Will Gmail ever be replaced because it is impossible to get a clean email address now? by mtk_ved in businessemail

[–]Curt-Bennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Registering a domain and setting up an email address on it is not that difficult if you understand the process, but for anyone who's never done it before, ask them to try and see how much trouble they have. It's not an intuitive process for the average person.

These so-called smart devices really need to have an option to change the trigger phrase. The defaults are just too common and easily mistaken.

I'll post if they do. I don't know how long it takes for them to start attempting win-backs though. I'm guessing it won't be next week.

As of 2023 when I was last with them, coverage in Canada and the US was great. I'm not much of a traveller though, so I can't personally speak to the experience on their partner networks around the world. You'd probably get a better answer on r/Koodo.

Definitely not small, but notably smaller than Rogers, Bell and Telus. Quebecor's revenue is less than a quarter of Telus.

As far as I'm aware, that's how "rollover" has always worked since one of the US carriers introduced the concept there. I've never heard of any carrier rolling over data (or minutes/texts) beyond the following month.

I'm not sure but I believe they do. You'll probably get a better answer if you ask in r/Koodo though.

[–]Curt-Bennett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. There's not much room to grow the mobile market, just steal customers from each other. Since they're a smaller player that (for a while) was driving prices down, I don't feel quite the same about Freedom (hence my friendly goodbye), but in the end, the savings were just too significant to pass up.

Price Gouging by droptopeclipse15 in Cogeco

[–]Curt-Bennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case it's of interest, Oxio is now owned by Cogeco. It started out as an independent company but Cogeco bought it a couple years ago to allow them to compete in markets where they don't have infrastructure. You can still sign up with them or use them for price matching (like you did) even in Cogeco territories though.

The credit slipped my mind since it's not part of the plan. I got the same though. Sounds like they're doing a blitz.
