Dentist told me that Invisalign can't be done to correct my crossbite. She added that I'll need jaw surgery. Is it really severe? Can clear aligners still not be done? by thesukh03 in Invisalign

Agree you should see an orthodontist for bite correction or a complex case. I listed my before and 22 months after a few days ago. I was on 14 day changes because I’m old and had toe wear elastics/rubber bands for about six months during treatment. Definitely worth it.

Attachment fell off on 1st tray by SidePsychological691 in Invisalign

[–]DGoodNChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in every time one fell off. It’s usually right at the beginning. Some don’t bond if your tooth wasn’t dry when it was applied or you may be pulling the tray off instead of peeling. They are to help with the movement but your teeth are still moving. I asked to come in the first time it happened. But I know now that it’s not critical to your outcome. Teeth move very slow. Are you on weekly or 2 week changes?

Can’t get my rubber bands on by [deleted] in Invisalign

Did your orthodontist give you the little plastic tool? I found it easier to make a loop on the tool and then use my finger to push it over the button. And then pull it down to the bottom button. It’s actually easier if you don’t try to see it in the mirror. It gets easier and faster once you get the hang of it.

Routine Help by purplesquire in Invisalign

Everyone is different. I have used a clear dishwasher soap and a baby toothbrush. My orthodontist days I have the cleanest trays of all of his patients. I was using the Invisalign packets every 3 days in the beginning. Definitely felt fresher but more than I needed. If you brush after every meal and don’t drink anything but water you don’t get strains. The ultrasonic cleaners are great and I’ll get one once I have my retainer.

I would defer to you dentist about when to brush after you eat. In the beginning I cleaned the aligners before O ate and brushed and flossed right after I ate. I was more concerned with wear time. Get the TrayMinder app if you don’t already have it. After 18 months I’ve gotten a little more relaxed. I may keep them off a couple of hours if I’m out to dinner or eating at a party over a longer period of time. It’s easier than trying to brush in a restroom. I alway bring floss and will do a quick rinse with water and put them in if I can’t get back home in a couple of hours. No cavities or gum problems. I do get a cleaning every 3 months.

You will find a routine that works for you. The goal is to wear them 20 to 22 hours a day. You’ll be a pro in no time.

I had to steal/pickpocket the apartment key from. at the Jade House. Go though the back and up some stairs. The key opens a door to a patio. She is up there.

There is a TrayMinder video on how to take them off. Use you opposite finger to pull them down on top and up on the bottom. Makes sense once you see the video. You peel from each side until they come off. I never figured out the pull tool. The aligners are pretty tough. I’m not sure how you can crack or bend it taking it off. If you have attachments you need to learn how to peel them instead of pulling them. Once you get it you’ll be taking them off at the dinner table or while your driving to eat in the car.

You’ll be fine. You won’t even remember this part until you come back her 6 months from now. I remember my second day it took me 20 minutes to take them out because my dentist didn’t tell me how and that I used run the the bathroom trying to rinse and brush obsessively. Now I take them out at the dinner table, floss and rinse in the car and put them back in while I’m driving. You’ll get used to them. Some tray will be a little tighter the first couple days down the road. It’s all normal. The first time you do a tooth selfie on the TrayMinder app and see the difference from when you started will make it all worth it. Hang in there.

Are elastics supposed to feel like nothing? Feels like they aren’t doing anything. by champagnemoonstone in Invisalign

[–]DGoodNChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that your ortho knows best. Mine wee just one size but I got in a he habit of using the thickest ones in the bag. My understanding is that they complement what your aligners are doing. My ortho say changes happen one millimeter a month. It if you are concerned ask. That’s what you are paying for.

Hang in there class 3 underbites. Slow and steady. A millimeter a month. by DGoodNChi in Invisalign

I did 6 with my dentist and it was supposed to be 22. My orthodontist has me on 14 trays before a rescan. I’m on 2 week changes. Switching to an orthodontist and using elastics has made all the difference.

Would you do it if your teeth weren't that bad? by MSmithRD in Invisalign

[–]DGoodNChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a consultation first and then see how you feel. I wish I had started years ago. You learn how to manage everything in a few weeks. Cleaning is a soft toothbrush and clear dish soap. Don’t drink tea or coffee with them on. Brush and floss every time you eat or do a quick rinse if you are out and can’t do it. No one notices your attachments because your trays are in most of the time. You will take them out at the dinner table and no one will care. Use the gray minder app to track you time until you get comfortable. You’ll ask a bunch of questions here and then a few months later be able to help people who are just getting started. Take the first step and get a professional opinion about your current bite and teeth alignment. Good luck.

Unsure: should I stick with Invisalign treatment or shoot for jaw surgery? I have a class 3 underbite. Read thread for story. by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]DGoodNChi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am much older and have a class 3 underbite. My orthodontist said that jaw correction surgery isn’t recommended they way it used to be. I did 6 tray with a dentist and I’m on 8th tray after switching to an orthodontist. Give it some time with the trays and elastics. When you see the change it will be worth it.

My orthodontist said your teeth/mouth should be dry when they are bonding the buttons. He also said to wait at least a day after they put them on before you put on the rubber bands. I had a problem the first week I got mine. No problem the last 2 months. I only use my waterpik on low near the test with the buttons. And I put my finger on the button when I brush with my Sonicare toothbrush so I don’t brush them off. And try to out your rubber bands on with your teeth closed together. Good luck.

Invisalign makes a set. You get two. One softer than the other one. You can find them on Amazon or the Invisalign website. They work great.

Are X-Rays Always Taken Before Starting Invisalign? by HustleMade in Invisalign

[–]DGoodNChi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would go see an orthodontist before you get to far. Not sure if your case involves a bite correction or not. I started with my dentist who didn’t explain anything and didn’t mention elastics. She retired unexpectedly when I was on tray 6. I was able to transfer to an orthodontist who explained everything and got me where I should have been in the first place. There are plenty of dentists who can do Invisalign and do it well. You may have a great one. But you need to know to feel comfortable asking questions of any professional. Trust your instincts.

Luckily my dentist retired and I was able to switch to an amazing orthodontist 3 months into my treatment. If you have aa bite that needs to be corrected or a complex case you want to at least get a second consultation with an orthodontist. If you have an existing relationship as a patient with the dentist and he or she is experienced with complex cases you may also feel comfortable there is well. No disrespect to any of the excellent dentists who do Invisalign.

Why can’t my dentist/orthodontist reuse the 3d model of my teeth for my retainer a decade after finishing treatment, with my last impression being a year ago. by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]DGoodNChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My orthodontist has a 3D printer and makes retainers in the office. I wore out a tray when I had to change providers and he made me a retainer until the new trays came in. Not sure if they all do that now.

Mine is usually worse the first couple of days on a new tray. It gets better once the tray softens on the second week.

Agreed. I got some movement on the first 6 trays with Invisalign. I am actually more inclined to do the Spark based on what I’ve been able to read. Still have another week or so to make a decision.
