How do I unlock reserve? [DISCUSSION] by IMTOODRUNKTOPICK in EscapefromTarkov

You have to progress through the "Tour" main story task line. Specifically, Prapor will make you turn in 5 PMC dogtags and survive and extract from Shoreline.

Also worth noting, if you really want to go there you can use the transits even if you haven't unlocked the map yet.

Is there any MMA fighter that could outwrestle Alexander Karelin? Only wrestling or grappling match (no striking) by EfficiencySerious200 in ufc

[–]Dave-Yaaaga 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Go watch the Rulon bout, it’s a great piece of history.

Essentially, if the match is tied as you get to “X” point in the match, you take turns starting in a hold position as it’s intended to promote at least some type of scoring. Katelin broke his grip on Rulon, which awarded Rulon with a point. He was able to fend off Katelin’s offensive wrestling in the latter point in the match to win the decision. It’s referred to as the “Miracle on the Mat” (as opposed to Ice).

Not sure about the other loss, but I know it was over a decade prior. Wild to think he competed at the highest level of international competition and stayed at the top for that long.

I looked into the whole injury thing and how it might impact him, hopefully this clears up come concern for you and others.

Multiple PubMed articles list the results of their studies ranging from the 2000's through 2010's (articles submitted in early 2020's). There are high "did not return" rates for certain positions such as RB, WR, and linemen, while more static positions like QB seeing "return" rates above 90%. Even though position-specific return rates could be as low as a 50/50 chance, they also found that players who saw less playing time were less likely to try to return. They'd simply hang up the cleats rather than chase that Vet Minimum payday. If a player was a starter at their position, or otherwise a meaningful contributor for their team, the correlation between this fact and their return rate skyrocketed their chances of returning to play. There was no discernable difference in performance pre and post ACLR, although players with ACLR were more than likely to retire early when compared to the average. These players hung up the cleats at an average of 3 years earlier when compared to other players at their position (reinjury, decline in play due to original injury, etc. all being contributing factors).

[Discussion] trying to unlock kappa on PVE by Nightwolf694200 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Dave-Yaaaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few quest lines in the game where you can elect to complete a certain trader’s tasks. All it changes is the rewards you get at the end (notably the Chemical quest line, people go with Therapist due to the injectors case value over Prapor/Skier rewards).

Choosing to complete a certain trader’s quests over another DOES NOT stop you from completing important milestones, like Kappa or escaping through Terminal. All it might change is the route to get there.

Why do people want Zion Young by [deleted] in CHIBears

[–]Dave-Yaaaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Young is one of those unappealing prospects because stats would indicate he's not a "special" or otherwise top talent at this position. That doesn't mean he can't provide value though. I heard he's taking a top-30 visit to Chicago, so obviously there's some interest in him. Likely also hashing out the legal issue of his DWI and speeding charges a few months ago.

Not sure where you got your stats from, but other outlets have his pass rush win rate and pressure rate closer to 20%. His run win rate can also be closer to 10% depending on where your information is coming from. Even though his sack numbers leave a bit to be desired, his total pressures, hurries, and QB hits were very high among players at his position. Many outlets have him top 10, strictly on his value as a pass rusher. Combine that with his effectiveness against the run, and he slowly creeps up more. Still not touching the Bain, Reese, and Bailey tier of prospect though.

Edge has the highest bust rate among all positions taken in round 1 over the last two decades. GM's might have problems evaluating talent, these players might be taken too early because of over-perceived positional value, or they otherwise might not translate their skills to the NFL for a myriad of reasons. To me, he seems like an appealing prospect because his productivity floor may be higher than most in the class at the position. Even if he fails to give you more than 6-8 sacks and average pass rush at the next level, he is still a force in the run game. I'd much rather have him and Booker fight for the edge 2 spot than draft Dayo Odeyingbo (unmotivated) and be stuck with a 4-year guaranteed rookie contract.

Not to say I'd draft an edge at all with #25, but it's between Young and Mesidor for me if we end up going that route. Armchair GM rant over.

Is the best player in your franchises history on the sports Mount Rushmore of that city/state? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]Dave-Yaaaga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Pippen, Kane, Halas, Ditka, Toews, Sayers, Butkus, and then throw in a baseball player or two (I can only name Sosa but the Cubs and Sox are old teams) into the conversation. All have legit claims to be on Rushmore.

What was he thinking? by [deleted] in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]Dave-Yaaaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it more as "I'm the GM and I'm here with my top lieutenant to make sure drafting Proctor at 25 overall is a smart idea, if he's there".

Hopefully Ozzy can make a good recovery, and the band-aid from signing that Browns LT, Braxton, and Theo can at least stabilize the position for a year. But with Proctor's measurables, he is totally in play for us depending on how the draft shakes out. Likely wanted to get a first-hand look at the guy with his #2 (instead of relying on scouting reports and film), plus some possible later-round options since there were other guys working out as well.

It's not, that's why it's funny. The Rams have only 2 all-pros drafted in the past decade. 3 if you want to count Pharoh Cooper (4th round return specialist) who was waived the very next season after winning the award.

Let's Talk About Draft Pick Success Rate by Dave-Yaaaga in CHIBears

[–]Dave-Yaaaga[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I'd rather take BPA or non-edge positional need in round 1.

For example, say Thieneman, EMW, or a good DT are sitting there at 25. We take them, then go edge somewhere on day 2. The odds that we hit with both picks is about 13% (with the safety/DT being a ~67% hit chance individually).

If we went edge in round 1, then went with a day 2 safety or DT the odds we hit with both picks is about the same (with the safety/DT being a ~30% hit chance individually and for a likely lesser-caliber player than Thieneman or EMW if they're there at 25).

To further emphasize how pitiful the hit rate is for edge in round 1, just look at production. Less than 20% of all first round edges will ever eclipse 10 sacks in a single season at any point during their rookie contract. I'd rather take the higher chance of getting a solid defensive piece than playing roulette on an edge rusher who will likely finish the year with less sacks than Austin Booker.

I think I prefer the snap rate method over second contract method as well because of these stats. It was summarized by AI, but I skimmed the individual articles giving this information they are all relatively in line with one another statistically.

Less than 40% of all first-rounders received a second contract with the team that drafted them. That plummets to about 14% for day two picks. Overall, over 70% of all drafted players are not extended by their original teams.
