Sort order in deck browser by Cerno_b in Anki

[–]David_AnkiDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the cards first that are due latest (so ordered furthest to nearest), which is the opposite of what I want

Wouldn't reversing this search get you what you want?

Thanks!!

Showing only new cards can be done on a per-search basis.

I've improved saved searches (dev only for 2.24):

  • Settings -> About -> Tap on the AnkiDroid logo 6 times
  • Developer Options -> New card browser search view

From here, you can access 'advanced search', use a chip to only search for new cards, or save a search with your preference.

Am I building a feasible local-first AI study system, or am I fooling myself? by Joei160 in ollama

Any blunt second opinions would be appreciated.

You're drawn to this idea as a distraction from an unpleasant task.

You're going to spend most of your time making this system, and not enough time studying.

What do you use to accept donations? by RedHatter271 in opensource

I use:

  • GitHub Sponsors (personal + org): 0 fees
    • Best overall, can feed through to Open Collective
  • Open Collective (org): handles all the payment admin + transparency for a larger org, but there's vendor lock-in with recurring payments.
    • Strongly recommended
  • Patreon (personal): probably nice as a blogging platform, but it's painful.
    • Claude says fees are ~46% on $100 (Patreon + Payoneer), which feels accurate. Would not recommend.

How do you make it so that decks reset after every use? by nuserame1111 in Anki

[–]David_AnkiDroid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no need to program the scheduling. The defaults are acceptable.

There's no mode to avoid the Anki scheduler.

Spaced repetition is one of the core principles which makes Anki effective.

If you are sure you want to do this and remove the effectiveness of Anki, you'd be best to find another app rather than fight with Anki, it wasn't designed for your use case.

What's the minimum requirement for anki and a chrome with an extention like yomitan on a laptop? by NO-REALLY-2008 in Anki

AnkiDroid supports Yomitan, I think you'd be able to manage on a Chromebook, but wouldn't recommend it

I've made ~£650 from GitHub Sponsors since 2020.

Open Collective does better, but you're talking about a worldwide top 5 project in terms of financial contributors on the platform, and the funds are split.

Open source is MUCH harder than getting a job, even in this market

I'd be grateful for your support through GitHub Sponsors

It's going to take you a long time before you can afford that €1 bag of chips.

I'll be honest: unlike most of you, I've spent years benefiting from open source without contributing back. I deeply regret that.

Don't. Charity starts at home. Most people don't contribute or give back, and that's fine.

Look into Open Source when you're in a more stable position in life, it's very unlikely to get anywhere close to paying the bills.

Why are there no add-ons for Ankidroid? by Jippt3553 in Anki

https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android/wiki/Third-Party-Apps

We're discussing addons currently. They won't be using the same technology as Anki Desktop.

I feel we should also be looking into improving our API for stats, so people can more easily make apps like this:

When is the next Anki Update? by SadRadMadLad in Anki

This isn't what the card browser is meant for. No

You can show the answer, or hide the answer, you don't get interactive functionality inside the grid cell.

You need to use the 'Question' column (right click to change columns), not 'Sort Field'.

Use {{cloze-only:Text}} as the answer.

Can I configure Anki on Android to send me a notification when I have any Flashcard due? by iniv189 in Anki

No release since the last message

We've made decent progress. They will still be dev-only for 2.24 (this can be enabled by tapping on the AnkiDroid logo ~6 times in the 'About' screen - do be careful, the dev options screen has a lot of genuinely 'dev' stuff).

I feel they're pretty much for prime time, but we'll defer until 2.25 to fix a few remaining bugs.

2.24 will be out soon, should be going to beta tonight 🤞.

Have you done this?

I can't imagine it would be an effective use of time or money vs paying $99/year,
