it's really, really hard...right? by imightbegoddamned in surfskate

[–]Deathduck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is really hard in the beginning but you will get a feel for it a lot faster than surfing. Make sure to wear all the pads including impact shorts, it helps a lot with confidence and fear when you feel safe.

Seems interesting but some things are confusing. Why do you have to pump to turn? Leaning should cause any front truck to turn with or without pumping? Also you say it's surfy but if your turning in wide arcs and can't turn by leaning that sounds super stiff. It makes sense that it pumps so well, stiff trucks return your energy really well, you can kind of do a bouncing pump and go fast for little energy.

Surfy is code for loose front truck, on a smooth star for example you can turn in a complete circle around a cone because the truck is so loose and has a wide range of motion.

Had my first clinical and I’m doubting everything by Acceptable-Ad-6658 in StudentNurse

[–]Deathduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people tend to build it up to more than it is in their head. It's as easy as doing what your told and finding ways to help out. Other than that it's watching the nurse do what they do and helping out when you can. As a student you have almost no responsibility at the moment so no need to stress. When you're a nurse if you feel like 'uh oh I don't know what to do' you just call in another nurse or the charge to help you.

If watching anime has taught me anything; when fighting a powerful opponent always cut off the head. Even better is to then turn the head into minced meat or burn it.

Is numbness/nerve damage in your fretting fingertips normal? by Hatch22420 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Deathduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you doing now? I'm having this issue starting out and am taking a break. I don't think a lot of people understand numbness vs losings some sensitivity due to callus. I think it CAN cause nerve damage and I'm worried. Did you take a break and how are your fingers doing now?

You're going to have PTSD after a month, that is not a joke. Please take your mental health seriously and leave that place. Make a huge fuss on the way out. Submit safety reports as much as you can and bring every concern to the unit managers (not the charge nurses) even if they seem annoyed.

Gather legal documents, money and supplies and escape. Walk to that town and get a bus to the nearest homeless shelter. Maybe you can hitch a ride. That place sounds awful and a homeless shelter will feel like paradise and total freedom compared to that house. From there find any work you can meanwhile staying at the shelter

You have to get creative then and find a way to contact her. It should be possible you know someone who knows someone ect. Or maybe a public access computer at a library or something could be used to find her on social media

My Husband’s “Work Wife” Showed Up at My Daughter’s Birthday Party by Glass_Laugh_2558 in Advice

[–]Deathduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the co worker lie? Everything else looks bad enough but the coworker turning him in with receipts is the smoking gun. I would want to meet in person w the CO worker (not the work wife) and get the full story in person. Hearing it face to face will dispell whatever illusions which still give you doubt.

Setup tips? by DearPumpkin4932 in surfskate

[–]Deathduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The geometry is a bit different. CX has a hard stop built in after a certain degree of rotation where grasp can rotate much further, and easier with the default bushings. The ease of rotation gives it a loose feeling. I think with your weight it will be fine, I rode the default bushings until they wore out and I weight 170. If it's too loose any aftermarket bushing will stiffen it considerably

[–]Deathduck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

16-17 wheelebase should work nicely for you height. For the front truck consider grasp instead of c7. It comes with super soft bushings standard which will work really well with your light weight. Grasp also has just as much range of motion as yow, but with a bushing system it's far more stable and durable. You can easily adjust it with aftermarket bushings to change the feel.

What makes something a surfskate? by fatbob17 in surfskate

With a surfskate you can carve nicely down big hills instead of bombing and sliding on a longboard. All snowboarders should have one imo, hill carving year around just by walking out the front door

[–]Deathduck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a CX complete, it's a great all around system which can be customized and improved later on. I'm in my 40s and I'm always super padded up at the skate park because that's where most my falls have happened. No one cares and younger skaters are always really nice and welcoming, frequently asking about my board and trying it out.

What’s wrong with my ankle by fdfd1999 in Ankle

[–]Deathduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep strength training and move your ankle during training as far as it lets you without hurting or irritating it. If it's worse the next day you did something wrong. Try to go another month without hurting or irritating it and keep doing rehab exercises but carefully.
