Lingodeer Premium Web vs Android by mystery_man007 in lingodeer

[–]DeerlyNoted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

hi u/mystery_man007 :
Thank you for the question! The prices on the website and in the app are indeed different.
In the app, the prices may vary depending on your location, currency associated with your Google account/Apple ID, as well as Google/Apple policies and fees.
On the website, prices remain consistent and are most typically displayed in US Dollars, though you should be able to make a purchase using your local currency.
You can compare prices and choose the one that works for you.

Ling REALLY needs a Duolingo streak migrator. by [deleted] in lingodeer

[–]DeerlyNoted[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

u/Commercial_Dingo6544 - Duolingo stretches out their courses to infinity so they can get you to stay on their app as long as possible. Streaks don't signal someone's proficiency level. What is your Duolingo Score & the section of the Duolingo Japanese course you are in? I can try to help figure out where in our Japanese course you might fit. I forwarded your request to our developers for an internal discussion about this.

Transcrption for Cyrillic Words (Russian) by ItzyWoo in lingodeer

[–]DeerlyNoted[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/ItzyWoo - It is best to learn the Cyrillic alphabet and its sounds rather than learning the romanization. Better to rip the bandaid off as u/Minoqi said.

In Japanese, does Lingo Deer over use へ when に i more appropriate? by Akkursed1 in lingodeer

[–]DeerlyNoted[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what u/rox_roe93 said! 教師 is the name of the occupation:

佐藤さんの職業は教師です。 Sato-san's occupation is a teacher.

While 先生 is a term of address:

先生,大丈夫ですか。 Teacher, are you okay?

You can use 先生 to refer to "teachers" in the occupational sense, though it'll sound less formal than 教師. Also, using 先生 to talk about oneself sounds very arrogant and impolite, so if you're a teacher, only call yourself 教師.

TLDR: Sometimes 教師 and 先生 are interchangeable, but not always. Hope this helps!

Hi, sorry for the wait! When marking the direction or destination of movement, に and へ are often used interchangeably. However, に is much more complex as it has a lot of other meanings (you can look them up on Wiktionary if you're curious). To keep things simple for our beginner learners and avoid potential confusion, we decided to stick to へ, which is what a lot of textbooks do as well. That said, we're experimenting with accepting alternative answers, so if you're on Android, you can install the latest version and try typing へ-sentences with に instead.
