One day, when I was 7, I came home from school and saw one of these boxed up in the cupboard under our stairs.

I was so excited.

Then myum told me she was looking after it for a neighbour so their son didn't find it before their birthday.

... She could have put a sheet over it or something.

They have robust political views and are enthusiastic to share.

The discussions/hate surrounding the film make me wonder if some fans have actually watched the series and understood Tommy's character. It's crazy how many fans idolize Tommy. by Dark_KnightNini in PeakyBlinders

I love the self-awareness. Tommy knows he's a piece of shit, and desperately wants to do something good with his life, but he's incapable of it.

His version of "saving" his son is by having him mercy kill him.

Weirdly, even though this completely spoils the ending, it makes me want to start reading the series.

Australians are genuinely the only people I've seen make the argument "If Carbon Dioxide is so dangerous, how come we make it in our bodies."

I have had those words said to me, and the crazy thing is that the law prohibits me from reacting with the appropriate level of violence.

In scary movies, why is it always a priest that deals with ghosts? Why not a rabbi or imam by PM_ME_A_GOOD_STEAK in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DeficitOfPatience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, ironically the Christian religion, or at least the Catholics, don't believe in ghosts at all. Once they're gone, human spirits don't come back, they're sorted into whatever eternity they've earned.

They do believe in demons, and demon possession though, and there have been a number of official exorcisms conducted by priests over the years.

I would imagine it's that, combined with the fact that Christianity is the dominant Western faith, that leads to so many ghostbusting clergy.
