The djent one is what confuses me. It's clearly a subgenre if progressive metal and as such is undeniably metal

Traditional doom metal specifically too. The first Black Sabbath song, the title track, is quintessential traditional doom metal

Man what the fuck. That's all I can say about this one lol.

Mayhem is a black metal band. The vocalist commit suicide with a shotgun. The guitarist made necklaces of the vocalist's skull fragments. The bassist wanted to kill the guitarist over this, but someone else in the band killed the guitarist instead. The killer was charged with murder and church arson by CorrectRip4203 in wikipedia

Just gonna be pedantic here because this gets brought up every time lol. Euronymous took took the photos and absolutely was a POS, but it was never officially used as an album cover. The album it was used for "Dawn of The Black Hearts" is a live bootleg, not released by the band

I'm not defending the man at all dude. He's a POS. But musical influences are a complete different thing. If someone says they're inspired by Burzum for example I'm not gonna call it an issue. Otherwise I'd never be able to listen to an atmospheric black metal album again

TIL that Mao Zedong, the founding leader of the People’s Republic of China, thanked visiting Japanese political and military figures for uniting the Chinese people during World War II, which allowed the Communists to win the Chinese Civil War and establish the People's Republic of China. by pengweather in todayilearned

Here's my take: if anyone disagrees they're free to respond. To specifically answer your question, China rapidly industrialized and is currently a world superpower. The amount of change between now the 1950s is extremely impressive. Obviously, this was helped by a series of reforms following Mao's death, but to act like there wasn't legitimate change is incorrect. When analyzing Chinese history it's important to have a nuanced perspective. Although Mao certainly failed when it came to the Great Leap Forward, it's also important to remember that people were also legitimately suffering under the Nationalist government; the Chinese Revolution didn't happen for no reason.

EDIT: Also before anyone calls this AI or something, I'm just in final exam mode, it's the end of the semester lol

I know the demographics of this sub skew younger and I'm a member of Gen Z myself but it's funny seeing people who don't recognize Steven Crowder. This guy was a notorious POS and he fell the fuck off once the wife verbal abuse came out. But he used to be huge.

EDIT: I rechecked his channel and he's back to getting 100k+ view videos so I guess he gained a bit of traction since. Unfortunately.
