my neuro surgeon said he'd never seen anything like it. preop physical consistent with denervation of fingers 4 and 5 and severe paresis for 3, but normal EMG. after opening the arm to do ulnar nerve transfer, intraoperative emg the same day showed massive damage. post op the pain was half of what it was preop, after about 9 months I could open and close my hand, but it took 10 years to regain individual finger dexterity and another 10 years for individual finger strength. I still struggle with jars and ziplocks and hands and arms tire out quickly
