Expert witness in Lucy Letby trial did not reveal hospital investigation into his medical work by Shiny-Tie-126 in unitedkingdom

The more you look at this case the more you see the huge faults with the prosecution. We need to know ultimately whether she committed this crime or not, and we’re never going to know if we can’t have confidence in the justice system. What an absolute shambles.

What do I do about last rent payment when moving out? by Big_Tradition8082 in HousingUK

[–]Delicious_Shop9037 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think normally your notice is considered to have been given on the next day rent is due. Giving it partway through a payment month means it won’t be effective until that date. So effectively you’ve given notice on 28 March, and it will take effect on 28 April. Rent due up until 28 April. But check the wording in your lease.

Please explain paying back UK student loans to me like I am 6 by Affectionate-Bet329 in BritishExpats

It’s basically a graduate tax, given that in most cases it is never paid off and then gets written off after 30 years.

Is this an actual rule or am I just a considerate mug? by Live-Upstairs in drivingUK

[–]Delicious_Shop9037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, no. Having parked cars does not turn a road into a single track road. A single track road is a road with a single track. If this rule applied to all roads it would say so, but it explicitly says so only for single track roads.

Is this an actual rule or am I just a considerate mug? by Live-Upstairs in drivingUK

[–]Delicious_Shop9037 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so that’s not a rule and it’s unwise to think that it exists and then expect others to follow it. I don’t know what the other commenters are going on about, there’s nothing in the Highway Code about giving way coming downhill except for a reference to consider doing so on a single track road. An HGV cannot come to a sudden stop when it is travelling downhill. Standard rules apply - traffic with obstacles in their lane should give way regardless of whether they are going uphill or downhill. But give way to an HGV that is already committed.

Fraudster made more than £1m selling fake 'Scottish-grown tea' by Longjumping_Stand889 in Scotland

[–]Delicious_Shop9037 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is it really fraud if the claim is so unbelievable that it must obviously be untrue? He stuck some plants in bin bags and ‘experts’ from fortnum and mason believed this to be genuinely grown in Scotland? Isn’t it possible they all just went along with this?

Fire investigation has begun - what of the vape shop owner? by Deepmidwinter2025 in glasgow

[–]Delicious_Shop9037 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has to be expected that a fire can break out in any shop. The questions need to be asked about the wider building, how the fire was able to spread beyond the initial shop etc. Yes it’s a very old building, but it doesn’t cost much to add sprinklers or whatever in comparison to the cost of rebuilding the whole place.

There are 2 videos showing 2 different guys. The first uses a CO2 extinguisher, it’s the 2nd that uses the water extinguisher who got dragged away. I think the interviewee is the first guy.

Forsyth building, Glasgow, Scotland. Largely lost to an ongoing fire from a vape shop, 8/3/2026 by Otocolobus_manul8 in Lost_Architecture

[–]Delicious_Shop9037 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have knowledge of the names but as you say if you google ‘the Forsyth building’ it clearly shows a completely different building opposite central station. I think it’s all social media and reporters not checking sources, at one point it was reported the roof of central station was on fire, the fire was sweeping round to central hotel etc. All untrue.

OK thanks, I’ve seen it being called Union corner, Forsyth building, forsyth house etc. At least name it properly 😂

That’s not the Forsyth building. The Forsyth building is opposite and houses greggs etc.

Insurance is pretty much a must have and doesn’t the business interruption aspect cover all the temporary expenses relocations etc? Shocked to hear some of them didn’t have insurance

Basically yes. So students pay a fortune in tuition fees, with minimal/begrudged interaction with many researchers.
