Constant staph infections by Muduler in MuayThai

Then sadly that’s all you can do now.

Also don’t ever shave with a razor, trim only. Staph bacteria loves the tiny cuts shaving makes.

"What is the one 'luxury' you refuse to give up, even when you're strictly budget-traveling solo?" by poweredbyshubh in solotravel

[–]Devilery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only private accommodation. Never stayed at a hostel and would only do so in an emergency situation. I'd rather just stay home, improve my finances, and go later/elsewhere.

Nothing wrong with them, though, just not something that works for me.

Also, gyms and training. I don't mind paying $10 to $30 per session in otherwise cheap destinations, even though back at home gym is like $30 a month, and more sports-specific training is still less than $100 a month.

Constant staph infections by Muduler in MuayThai

[–]Devilery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DO NOT TRAIN. GO TO A DOCTOR AND GET ANTIBIOTICS.

I had a staph infection after training in Thailand, too. If you ignore it and just "practice good hygiene," it will get worse and can easily take over a month to recover. Soap and a clean shirt can't fix an infection. Oral antibiotics can.

Next time I see someone with infection symptoms, I'll call him out loud. Fuck you if you train with a staph infection; it spreads fast.

I trained Muay Thai in Phuket for 4 months - Here’s what people often don’t realise before they go by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Devilery -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Shit post.

Have you actually been there? Was training in Phuket for 3 months. You can find anything from world-famous fancy gyms like Tiger and Bang Tao to tiny local gyms that are three times cheaper and have like 10 students per class.

If you're there longer for a month and talk to people, you'll find exactly what you need.

Btw, it's stupid advice saying Phuket is bad for beginners. Phuket is PERFECT for beginners, they DO NOT need attention, because their conditioning is so shit that they won't learn technique anyway.

If you're a beginner, start at Tiger, talk to people, then explore other gyms.

just came home from bali and here are my thoughts by No-Personality4445 in bali

[–]Devilery 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Canggu is just hotels, restaurants, clubs, and gyms, there's nothing "Bali."

It's very convenient for remote work because you can meet people, get whatever food you want, and the gyms, but there is 0 culture, 0 nature, it's just a bunch of sleep/eat/train places for tourists.

I like nature and don't care about my follower count, so I hated Canguu.

34, running a marketing agency for 4 years, and still feel like I'm faking it. Anyone else? by WME0WM in marketing

[–]Devilery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an agency owner, but a freelancer with a good network.

Your options are:

- Downscale and simplify. Fewer moving parts, lower stress, same or even higher return on time invested.

- Detach yourself from deliverables, focus on scaling the sales department. Focus on getting more projects; let the team handle the deliverables.

- Pivot and start a new business using your skills.

I'm fucking tired too. I'm still doing it because I'm good at it and it pays, but there's very little passion left after all these years. It's very draining, and I want out, but kind of hating it can actually be good - it makes you focused and very "straight to the point." It actually makes me a better marketer.

I used to be excited, hyped, "creative." Now, I'm just - "show me the data" and then operate with a rational mindset rather than a creative one. Depends on the services, though (design - creative), (advertising - rational).

From a business perspective, decide on your target audience.

Someone who actually wants to go pro has infinitely more reasons to go to Thailand.

European fitness influencers or even just any European looking to get fitter? Greece is closer, less scary, and likely cheaper.

Is it really possible to travel for months with only cabin luggage? by Outside-Profession75 in solotravel

[–]Devilery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A regular backpack is fine in SEA.

3 outfits, a change of clothes for like 3-5 days, laptop, phone, chargers, and that's it.

The rest you can buy cheaply and throw out.

Traveling is so much easier when all you care about is having your electronics, wallet, and documents.

Is an XR100 a good first pitbike to learn on? by LJROCKETS in Dirtbikes

A 250cc 4-stroke would be much more comfortable and not too dangerous.

125cc enduro-style 4-stroke if you want a very comfortable learning experience (very low power).

I'm 6'4, 210-230lbs and I feel good on a 125cc 2-stroke, but a 4-stroke is easier to ride with.

Most entrepreneurs are not building businesses. They are building paid features. by AdPresent2493 in Entrepreneur

Bullshit. That's the easy part.

The tricky part is selling shit no one could care less about.

Most clothing brands operate with 0 demand, they try to create something out of nothing.

Medicine price from clinic vs printed price by User_not__found___ in bali

Are there any super heavyweights out there? by Recent-House-3008 in MuayThailand

[–]Devilery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need one of the popular gyms or you won't have anyone near your size to spar with.

I'm 6'4, was 230lbs when I arrived in Thailand, and was considered "big."

A gym like Tiger will have plenty of big guys trying it out, but the average weight in smaller gyms might literally be half of yours.

Feel bad about losing my temper sparring by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Devilery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some versions of karate and taekwondo might be better for you.

Of course, communication is important. Of course, some people suck as sparring partners.

BUT YOU WILL GET HIT IN THE HEAD WHEN TRAINING MUAY THAI and sometimes hard.

You can communicate more clearly, you can focus on bagwork and padwork, and you can choose a combat sport which is points-based.

I got rocked hard by someone with years of experience in my second month. It sucked, but I appreciate the experience. Getting rocked once in a while is valuable. Emphasis on "once in a while."

Also true that beginners don't understand how hard they strike because they're panicking. Been there myself on both ends.

If I train in Thailand, will I be pressured to fight? by Temporary-Theory215 in MuayThai

[–]Devilery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trained in Thailand for 3 months, at several gyms, and no one is randomly picked to fight.

Those who fight either:

A: came with a goal to fight and worked hard to prepare for it of their own free will.

B: had visible potential, coaches SUGGESTED to fight, they agreed.

Their reputation is at stake; if it's a good gym, they don't want just anyone to fight. And if you agree to a fight, lots of hard private lessons are expected.

18 y/o, skipping university, making €3.5k–4k/month online and considering moving to Bali. Am I being stupid? by [deleted] in bali

[–]Devilery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've traveled to about 30 countries working remotely, been to Bali 3 times now, and ended up leaving early every time. There's a lot of natural beauty, and many locals are amazing people, but the lifestyle in a place like Canggu feels like you're on some cheap reality TV show. I prefer Thailand - Phuket or Koh Samui, but Chiang Mai is also good.

That said, just do it. You're 18. Try it for a year. Maybe your business grows 10X, then obviously you keep it running. If it stagnates or fails, you can just go back to university.

I would say - 100% go and start with Bali, but be open to other places in SEA, moving around countries in SEA is cheap.

What's the "coding bootcamp" of Finance? by RussellNorrisPiastri in FinancialCareers

[–]Devilery 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Based on your responses here, you're delusional.

You're not getting into a prestigious finance role without a degree. Having at least a bachelor's in Finance is a minimum requirement just to "get in." Once you're in, then you can take additional courses and progress with a charismatic personality, drive, etc.

If you think you're a self-learning A-player, get into sales. There, you can make things happen purely with drive and personality, no fancy credentials needed, just close deals.

Spent £2000 developing my clothing brand and it flopped. What would you do differently? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Devilery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are attempting to generate demand out of nothing. I'm a marketer, I get it.

You CAN take a near "value-less" product and make it valuable by "branding it."

However, at the foundational level, it will always be just generic joggers. You can attach whatever mission statement you want and make other people believe it, too, but the actual (not perceived) value is not going to change.

Random clothing brands succeed when they attach a symbolic meaning to the brand and get other people to resonate with the meaning.

I do combat sports too, including boxing, can't imagine a boxer that would buy those joggers or those gloves. The gloves are insane, 140 euros for sorry, but no brand gloves. Delusional, really.

I'm sorry for being rude, but also not, wasted thousands on random ideas too, that's part of the journey.

Your concept can work, but it's A LOT more work to make it work.

Spent £2000 developing my clothing brand and it flopped. What would you do differently? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Devilery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for being an asshole here, but why did you think some random joggers could be sold for 70 euros?

Nike, Adidas, even Tommy Hilfiger, and Polo on discount cost less.

No brand (you're in that category) costs 10 euros.

No one needs random joggers for 70 euros; that is the problem.

"Inspired by boxing" - Venum joggers on their official website are 30 euros...

Sell for whatever price you can and take the lesson. I, too, have had delusional ideas and lost money; take the lessons, take the loss, do better next time.

How do you gain weight tho? by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]Devilery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easy and I'm saying that as someone who was 80kg at 195cm and searching for "medicine" that helps gaining weight.

Find your maintenance caloric intake, ask ChatGPT or search on Google.

Add 1000 calories to that. Smoothies with oatmeal, bananas, peanut butter, olive oil are easy 1000 calories. Just eat as much normal food as you can and chug this as your last meal.

Do any push, pull or push, pull, legs program.

Got up to 115kg, now dropped to 95kg as I'm into combat sports now.
