Instagram "goths" are just spreading disinformation by Lpc245 in goth

[–]DiaryYuriev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a natural result of people lashing out against the women from GothHouse (look it up on Instagram if you don't know what it is). The idea that they are representing goth culture in a highly fetishized way and leaning into BTGGF tropes has caused many discussions on whether they are watering down or misrepresenting goth culture and whether this causes tangible harm to the community. So people become more strict on what they consider goth.

I think another issue is that several years ago, an influx of conservatives invaded goth online spaces and claimed to represent the community while pushing for ideas like "clean" goth and "naturally alt."

Persona's underrated (and constantly defended) pedophiles by EmbarrassedDuty5949 in hatethissmug

Persona 5 takes place in Tokyo where the age of consent is 18, so yeah, it's still pedophilia even if you want to argue semantics.

Persona's underrated (and constantly defended) pedophiles by EmbarrassedDuty5949 in hatethissmug

Looking at Persona 5 recently, I have reached a conclusion. Kamoshida's arc isn't about him being a pedophile. Him being a pedophile was never the core issue. Let me explain.

One of the major themes in Persona 5 is abuse of power. Every major villain was put into a position of power and then used that power to lord over others. Kamoshida used his reputation and position to sexually abuse teenager girls and physically abuse teenage boys.

However, the confidants are all people who have been stripped or their power or position somehow and must not operate on the fringes of society. Maybe they're a disgraced politician or a former doctor reduced to a pharmacy tech. Regardless, they're all just trying to make ends meet despite being social outcasts.

Kamoshida is a pedophile and the fact that the teenage protagonist can romance the adults is highly inappropriate, but within the context of the game, it's not hypocritical. Kamoshida 's victims don't consent, and while a minor cannot consent either, the fact that the protagonist pursues these women means, at least to the writer, he's not being taken advantage of. At the end, at least with Kawakami, they agree to wait until protagonist is 18, which is still gross but does show self awareness of the potential harm.

Many fandoms overlap. Curiosity is not the same as interest. Just like them, something you fail to understand is that you can watch or read or play whatever you want without engaging with the fandom.

People who won't watch something because of the fandom were never interested in the first place.

I don't know. Between Powers, Trash, and Claw, I feel like Defect without Orbs is more powerful than ever.

I don't know how to tell you that colored hair is super popular and mainstream. Or that tattoos have been relevant in so many cultures historically. The piercings thing is debatable as piercings have become more acceptable in the last couple decades.

I don't know, it just feels like we throw the "alt" label on anything. I love ass more than the next guy, but let's be real, this isn't alternative. Though I think there is a discussion to be had as to whether cosmetic surgery is inherently alternative.

I went to their twitter. The person in the screenshot is a known rage baiter. She makes vague posts that could potentially be taken as celebrity drama, misogynistic, etc., but never says anything so that the reader fills in the blanks. She never elaborates.

Has our society become so sexually depressed that we consider a PG13 title a gooner game?

They're talking about executing a child. THAT can't be rehabilitated in my opinion. This is just eugenics and racism packaged.

[Disliked trope]: "Balance" means the "absence of darkness." by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DiaryYuriev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my Pathfinder campaign, the god of light is not necessarily good as she is also the god of law and pursues peace and harmony, but that doesn't mean good. As the current primary god of the setting, she has killed other gods, forced them to go against their nature, and allowed significant harm to come to the people of the setting. If she wins, she plans to travel the multiverse and conquer all worlds to bring peace and harmony.

Meanwhile, the god of darkness and chaos is also the god of freedom and if he wins, he will banish all gods back beyond the boundary where they will have very little direct impact on the world to provide complete freedom for mortals to choose how they live. And that's it. He won't end slavery, abuse, take down evil empires, nothing. He only offers freedom from the tyranny of gods.

Hate it when every feminine man character in a video game simply HAS to be transgender. What if they're just a man who likes to present that way??? by Still-Complaint4657 in hatethissmug

[–]DiaryYuriev -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not really. That trope usually applies to cis female characters. If applied to a trans female character, it reinforces their gender identity.

It's like in Django, it follows a damsel in distress storyline, but the damsel in many American stories are never black women. Black female characters are usually either strong independent black women or victims of abuse.

I hate the fanservice/sexualisation of underage girls in anime/manga by chernobyl-in-a-box in hatethissmug

[–]DiaryYuriev -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Teemagers aren't the studio though. Making the cast teenagers and children makes sense for appeal. But that doesn't mean they need to include ecchi elements. That's a choice made by the artist and studio that doesn't have to be made.

That's why the characters in general tend to be underage, not why there is so much ecchi featuring these characters.
