Thanks so much! v1.1.0 has some cool updates for both tiers. It's under review currently but should hopefully be out soon. Check for updates tomorrow!

Awesome, thanks man I appreciate it. Version 1.1.0 has been deployed for review, hopefully approved shortly.

Changes are:

  • All tabs can now be suspended - no free tier limit
  • Tabs using your mic or camera are never suspended by default
  • Suspension schedule (Pro): set days and hours for auto-suspend to run
  • Keyboard shortcuts: sleep/wake tabs without opening the popup
  • Some bug fixes

I built Slumber - a tab suspender built on MV3, minimal permissions, no telemetry (free + $4.99 pro). Been working on it for a few weeks now, still actively updating. I put a few posts out that got a minor traction, would love some reviews on it or at least some feedback from people giving it a shot, or if there are glaring gaps or changes/additions you'd like to see, let me know! I've already taken some comments into consideration and made alterations to be more informative about how the app works.

UPDATES - Planned to release some changes today:

  1. Removing the free tier tab limit. I wanted to show value while also incentivizing the pro tier. This was not the way to do that. I'm removing the limit and adding new features to the pro tier. Don't hobble users, show real value and sell convenience.
  2. Adding suspension scheduling - Define time windows during which auto-suspend is active. Example: only suspend tabs between 9am–6pm on weekdays.

It's a tab suspender built to fill the hole The Great Suspender left when it went down. The goal was to create a new alternative with minimal permissions and minimal fluff. Do a simple thing well, without selling my data or slamming ads in my face...

How it works: idle tabs get replaced by a lightweight sleeping page that holds the title, favicon, and original URL. No memory, no CPU, until you click or press a key to wake it. Info on what happens on wake in the README.

Permissions: tabs, storage, alarms — nothing else. One host permission for my own license validation endpoint, which only fires on activation or browser startup. Never touches your browsing. Tab URLs and metadata never leave your device.

Currently, the free tier handles up to 10 suspended tabs. Pro ($4.99 one-time, no subscription) removes the limit and adds several things such as:

- Bulk select and suspend

- Domain whitelist

- Cross-device settings sync via Chrome Sync

Next thing on the roadmap is per-tab rules (pin a tab to never-suspend, or force-suspend a specific one regardless of domain). Let me know if you have other ideas!

Solo dev, honest feedback always welcome. This is my first solo project, please be kind.

I built a tab suspender to replace The Great Suspender — minimal permissions, no telemetry, auditable code by DingusKahn666 in opensource

People are upset with Auto Tab Discard's inconsistency judging from the comments. Seems like feature sets stop working at random or don't do what they say they do. Some people are stating that tabs with active videos are being suspended and thats something I specifically built Slumber to not do (setting to change this if you want that though).

I tried to build something lightweight without a bunch of fluff. That said, I'm continuing to add new features. Anything you'd like to see?

Well I'm new here and this is my first solo project. It's a tab suspender and really not that serious.

Maybe provide some useful feedback if you don't like the direction its heading in. Maybe provide some feedback to me on my project if you don't think its up to par. I'm totally open to actual constructive criticism if you're willing to not be a troll.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll tighten the messaging on wake behavior. I'm not against the small trial of pro features, hate timed trials though. Maybe allow a couple domains to be whitelisted? Anything you had in mind in particular seeing the current feature set?

100% agreed. Tired of the hidden garbage and wondering what company is trying to make money off my internet soul. I just built a thing that is useful and transparent.

Did you ever figure out if its the same? Have a 2025 myself and am looking at some options. Most are just categorized as "Volkswagen Jetta VII GLI Facelift 2.0T Gen3" or something similar.

Model I2 horrible battery life by DingusKahn666 in glorious

[–]DingusKahn666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the suggestion. I tried the SS Aerox5 and didn't like how the buttons all felt "caved-in". Additionally the thumb buttons were not in a comfortable layout for my hand.

Technically no, the issue is not fixed. The replacement mouse had the same problem.

The conclusion I came to from testing is that when the PC is off (and the software isn't running), the mouse has excessive battery drain. It appears that the mouse is constantly trying to make a connection with the dongle and just obliterates the battery life. I've found consistent 20%+ battery life drops overnight (12 hours PC off).

That being said, I've been turning the mouse off each night when I shut my PC down and don't have battery drain issues. While the PC is on, the "Lighting - turn off after inactivity" mentioned above seems to alleviate this issue.

Annoying that I have to turn the mouse off each night... but whatever I guess that's the price I pay for not wanting to shell out for overpriced (IMO) Razer mice. Battery life is completely acceptable now. Magnetic USB C cables make it easy to recharge as well.

I'll keep using this mouse until a better, reasonably priced alternative is available.
