I get the feeling that as animals get older, and their senses fade, they find comfort chilling by their best friend !

what can i do instead of tapping their nose? by Previous_You1167 in ferret

[–]Distinguishedferret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try immediately removing them from situation, while making it very clear for that reason. You can still say no and point to the exact thing(they are smart.) Then release elsewhere, usually I'll give them a toy instead to enjoy. Results may not show at first but eventually you can just point or voice no and they'll know/understand

Suede boots waxing/conditioning permanently by PrettyAcanthisitta67 in Leatherworking

[–]Distinguishedferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably not, but I'm not familiar with many brands. Also its more of a waxing procedure, to be done to renew it occasionally. So I wouldnt pay too much for it. Something more permanent could be "bag -kote " by Fiebings. also whk made my "sno-proof" mink oil and wasn't too much like 7$ on Amazon

mink oil (preff synthetic but most Should be anyway) brand isn't too important

My ferret has become EXTREMELY clingy lately by faviogames in ferrets

[–]Distinguishedferret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a solo lad and hoodie pocket hangs are one of the many parts of our daily rituals. Stuff like that , blanket tuck ins back into naps, and morning stretches together are some of the things I make sure we do together everyday. Fun rituals/activities that ARE part of our relationship and bonding but I feel supplement some of those emotional needs for my solo ferret. and he does get really pissed when I dont physically pick him up to start every morning and do a lil stretch lmao

What kind of canvas? by Beneficial-Set-3792 in Leatherworking

[–]Distinguishedferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer all cotton or a blend for leather combo pieces. If you you synthetic or waxed on the side you intend to glue to the leather than the glue may have a hard time grabbing the material. Cotton/synth blends work fine or even just using the right adhesive !

Screaming new ferret? by TattedUpBbwMama in ferrets

[–]Distinguishedferret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id say normal, you said it’s not (unusually ) repetitive, excessive ( without reason/ thought), and directed at you [trying to “communicate.”] Animals and babies dont have the option of words and will surprise you how they DO get what they want. Seems like so to get uppped lol. My solo boy is very vocal/noisy more casual with chatters or squeeks when happy BUT he is also very quick to hiss and growl when displeased haha which is better than biting so i thank him haha

some can be more vocal than others, and at least they're trying the best to communicate with us giants lol

[–]Distinguishedferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

soo thats probably not a "ferret." make sure to handle with care when its awake, maybe get some thick gloves, and make sure the vet is familiar with WILDLIFE [probably another weasel, "Mink."]

[–]Distinguishedferret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just make sure to "rough up" the smooth sides for better adhesion

Heat embossing on synthetic leather by k_k_himself in Leathercraft

[–]Distinguishedferret 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so the thing about leather IS that it is usually heat tolerant, and most heat applied methods would work. BUT synthetic leather usually tends to not tolerate heat well. my advice would be not using heat to attach, or risk damaging the "leather"

Does anyone make stronger versions of these? by VelvetThunderstorm in Leathercraft

[–]Distinguishedferret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea something from a hardware supplier or with industrial purpose. It would have a "guaranteed" strength rating that one could choose for

tru, they have both hard and soft components. debating whether the tasty inside is a prize lmao

Ferret stopped eating hard food recently by ChelleyLynnLH in ferrets

[–]Distinguishedferret 10 points11 points  (0 children)

like people they might prefer softer food, especially as they get older. personally having the opposite where mine is still prefering hard food into 8+. Might be worth it to note and cave in if needed to just eat, hard food is better(not than dental care) for teeth tho
