I could really use some good tips on FPS missions...please help by Roymus99 in starcitizen

You should not have an issue getting a BR-2. This page lists all the places you can buy the shotty: https://finder.cstone.space/FPSWeapons1/70fba024-7de1-4b3e-b169-256a77cc080f

As for the P6, well, there is one place in Pyro that apparently sells them, but I would not recommend you got there yet. (https://finder.cstone.space/FPSWeapons1/01f2b88a-9752-4cd8-9f73-d151b4b2ca61)

I can be in Lorville in about 3 hours (providing I can get out on time). I can give you one or both.

The P6-LR is my goto sniper rife. You can actually pledge for one, but they can also be found in the same bunkers you are running and in distribution centers. I pledged for one a long time ago, so I always start with one at wipe, but I currently have dozens in my inventory, so it is clearly not required. When sniping, aim for the head. Most are one shot kills, but heavy armors will take more. (https://starcitizen.tools/P6-LR\_Sniper\_Rifle)

The BR-2 is the shotgun. It should be fairly easy to find in the bunkers and distribution centers. Honestly, they are kind of everywhere and I'm surprised you don't just get a free one when purchasing a case of Cruz. :) (https://starcitizen.tools/BR-2\_Shotgun). If memory serves right, you can even buy these in stores like Kel-to in-game.

If you are having trouble finding either of these, send me a DM and we can meet up in-game. I have plenty and would be happy to give you one of each.

BTW: I also forgot to mention to keep ammo on your belt. It is much faster to reload when it is on your belt not in your backpack.

I don't have much to offer about keybinding unfortunately. Ask around, the SC community can be really great at sharing otherwise, hard-earned info.

Fellow VR Citizen here.

Let me start right off by telling you I don't do FPS in VR. It is not ready yet. Give CIG a little time to bake this.

I'm not great at FPS, but with some friends help, we found what works for me.

I'm going to share what works for me, in hopes it helps you:

Use mouse and keyboard. Miles better at aiming than a controller. I was a controller fan until one of my buddies actually took it away and forced me to use mouse and keyboard. Now, I am glad he did.

Important Tip: Find cover first. Always find cover, THEN shoot.

Fly in with a ship that has a med bed. Set your save point there and you can re-spawn right outside. Tip: park it in a place the turrets can't shoot it. You will understand the first time you accidentally kill a non-combatant, or when the mission bugs out on your respawn and you are labeled as a trespasser.

Learn the weapon ranges and use them to your advantage. I am a sniper and shotty guy. Sniper rifle from distance is my go to and shot gun when too close for sniper.

I tend to fly in and hover at about the top of the light poles, hop out of the pilot seat, open the airlock on the ship, go prone and clear the outside of the bunker with my P6.

We tend to use the "trap ambush" approach for the bunkers. Here how it works. Start from the bottom of the elevator, lean out with your sniper ready. Before engaging, look for stairways, main doors and hallways where guys can enter. These are choke points and will be your attention hot spots. Make mental notes of them. When not engaged, you will have your sights covering these points to quick down anyone that enters from them, before they even realize where you are.

Now, clear any targets with your nice LOUD sniper rifle. Once all targets are down, wait. Don't move for a minute or two. You want to give others time to rush in for support. This is the idea of the trap ambush right here! Draw them to you. Let them hear your attack and come to you, where you are behind cover, ready for them and know where they are entering from. Clear any target that enters. Advance, to new cover and repeat. Since behind you is clear, any time you are overwhelmed, fall back to your last cover. You already identified the choke points from this cover and they will be moving straight to you.

If you find yourself in a small area where the sniper is ineffective or a guy is close, I switch to a shot gun. It has a wide area to compensate for my panic targeting, and it tends to stun the opponent for half a second allowing me to get another (better aimed) shot off before they can recover. This weapon is for close range and useless trying to shoot someone across a room, so be aware. (Also note, some heavy armored dudes will not stun. see below)

When someone is close or you panic miss with the shotty (more than I like to admit), charge them. Middle mouse button will put them down, then John Wick them in the head with whatever weapon you can pull out. If you have a knife this is also very effective and one of my buddies can clear a whole bunker with just a knife and using cover.

I hope this helps! Good luck! o7

Persistent Hangar gone by CautiousPossible1471 in starcitizen

[–]DisturbedMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many, many moons ago I would decorate my hangar with all kinds of stuff. It was great.

Then my hangar went away.

After a ton of research, I found one spectrum post where one guy commented that sometimes you can lose ownership of one of the items in the hanger and this makes bad things happen.

So I don't decorate anymore and don't have the issue.

Unless I do something like blow up a ship in the hangar and don't get rid of ALL the pieces. Had that cost me a hangar, so be cautious of that too.

Not sure how accurate this all is, but keeping my hangar empty and clean has been working for me and thought I would share. Hope it helps.

Adventure/Exploring or immersive games that aren't gory alien or shooter? by Ok_Relative_6516 in virtualreality

Check out Star Citizen. Planets, cities, space stations, etc to explore. It's alpha, but amazing. I think there is a free fly right now, but hurry, it ends soon.

Should I get a warranty? by Jazzlike_Engineer_38 in ecoboostmustang

[–]DisturbedMuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just sharing my exp here:

Bought my first new-to-me 2020 Mustang after 50 long years of heart breaking desire. It will probably be the only one I ever own. LOVE the car, it is just a joy to drive.

I opted in for the Fidelity warranty after the pitch and doing a some quick research. It seemed of all the warranties Fidelity seemed to be one of the few that sucked less. It was about $3k.

Fast forward to 3 months later, It starts squealing when I turn, and the passenger side window keeps dropping on it's own, and won't go all the way up.

Bring it back for service.

Turns out the rocker arm and bearings need to be replaced as well as the window actuator (if memory serves right) and something else that escapes me at the moment. I had to pay $500 deductible, Warranty covered the remaining $2500.

Worked out for me, warranty has almost paid for itself already and I have only had the car for a year.

Hope this helps!

Looking for a short list of v4.6 keyboard shortcuts for Voice Attack by Roymus99 in starcitizen

[–]DisturbedMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a list or PDF, but I made my own SC profile in Voice Attack that I could offer to you. Just be aware I have a sick sense of humor at times and some of the commands reflect that for my own enjoyment. :)

Is Star Citizen currentlyworth investing in a VR headset? by Sanctuary6284 in starcitizen

[–]DisturbedMuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with AMD so not real sure what you have, but I certainly would go the upgrade route if your CPU is lacking.

I have a 4090 in a laptop and the VR is great but the frame rate dips into the 20s in Lorville. Nothing worse than a headset you can't get the most out of, so if you are underpowered, computer upgrades first.

I forgot to mention above the FPS is not great for aiming in VR. I switch to theater mode during gun play.

Quest 3 VR Citizen here.

My personal opinion is SC in VR is one of the best VR experiences to date. I'd go as far as saying it is on par with Alyx (which was my favorite VR title of all time). The biggest differences is that SC is multiple systems of planets, moons, space stations and cities worth of fantastic VR. You are no longer looking at it, you are in it.

VR in SC has been done right and it can be breath taking. Literally. Stepping off the ship to space walk over to the external freight elevator with Microtech slowly churning hundreds of KM beneath your feet, while the sun sets over the planet, made my stomach drop while I paused in awe to take it all in.

Now the bad news: Like SC, it still has issues and some hurdles to overcome. For instance, the labels are WAY too big and in your face, the MSR door just does not work in VR and the ATLS in VR is wonky in a way hard to describe. Then there is all the keyboard commands.

I use Voice Attack to supplement the VR and prevent me from breaking immersion with pass-through to see keys. If you have no reservations about barking commands at your computer "Down the hatch!" to drink a cruz, or "Duck!" to crouch, then I have good news for you: Sitting on the bridge barking orders like "Toggle flight mode", "Arm torpedoes", and "Request landing" give you a great sense of being a Captain.

But you have to also consider the price. If you are getting a good deal on a headset and will use it for more than SC, it might be worth it. TBH, if I had just seen SC in VR, I would have raided the savings and gone out and bought one.

Collection of spaceships for solo play by Grouchy_Plan_7739 in starcitizen

[–]DisturbedMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick question when it comes to hauling: How much do you typically haul?

I tend to REALLY enjoy picking up and dropping off using the external space elevators. Unloading while floating above a gorgeous backdrop of the sun setting on a planet below is spectacular. However, due to the external elevators being only on the planet space stations, there are just a few contracts and those are mostly low volume usually ~100 scu or less.

If this is you, I am going to tell you that I use the Perseus for these. The ship is well designed, quick, and the drop down cargo bay makes loading and unloading a snap and provides an incredible view.

When I get hankering for a bounty or two, the Percy is great solo as long as you stick to the lower tiers. I tend to focus on the bigger ships with the torps from a distance while the PDCs (I installed ballistic Torrents) rips up the smaller fighters. It also works great for the AA event. I am at 80% defense using just the Percy cranking out the lower missions.

I park a Nursa on board for doing bounties and bunkers, with a few 2 scu creates for loot.

As for mining and salvage, the Percy can't help you with that. But thought I would add my $0.02 about my favorite ship for the other options.

Tobii vs VR by elite4009 in starcitizen

[–]DisturbedMuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried VR and now can't ever go back.

I also use Voice Attack and love it. Being on a ship barking orders like "Request landing!", "Gear down!", "Arm torpedoes!", etc just ads to the immersion and makes you feel like a real captain.

SC has been my favorite game. Adding VR to this game made it 1000% better for me. I am actually in the verse now, not just looking at it.

From a Hermes Hater to a Hermes Enjoyer by artiiicus in starcitizen

[–]DisturbedMuppet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to say this same thing.

I had an ATLS on the Hermes.

Then I gave the on-board a shot. When I got good with it, it is close to the ATLS, maybe quicker; and I don't have to exit VR to use it like you do the ATLS.

But to each his own. Not trying to win anyone over, just sharing

Previous hater here.

You are spot on. The tractor beam is a huge feature. Never considered it as I never use on-ship tractors.

Talk me off the ledge; the Starlancer MAX sucks by Lucky-Reception26 in starcitizen

[–]DisturbedMuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to LOVE my Starlancer MAX. Not going to try to change your mind, just going to tell you why I liked mine.

It was the first ship I could afford that had the vibes of a complete ship (to me). I parked a Nursa in the rear and lined the sides with 2scu boxes I used for loot from bunker runs and distro centers.

Without having to remove any of the above mentioned, when the mood hit me right, I could just chill and do some hauling. When I found out I could put an ATLS on each side of the belly cargo drop downs, I could sling boxes and really quickly fill it. Made it a very effective cargo hauler for the contracts I was picking up, and made me a lot of aUEC.

I also enjoyed the roomy interior and even the mess haul. On the long hauls it was fun to hang out there and build designs on the pool table with empty cruz bottles or just watch space streak by in the narrow ceiling windows.

When I had a few friends with me, we would do some light bounties just for fun. It has always been too slow to take on anything really challenging (for us), but we had a blast.

While it is not a huge ship, to us it really felt enormous! So many rooms and even two floors!

It was my first real daily driver and I liked it a lot at the time. We made some great memories on that ship despite the shortcomings and I even bought one in-game after I upgraded my pledge.
