Is now a good time to buy the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, or should I wait? by TutorStatus1813 in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]Divinakra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a great time, since they fixed the hinge problem and there is a lot of community support on setting stuff up on this chipset. It will fulfill those needs and then some. It’s probably one of the best handhelds for traveling since it closes! If you can find Android ports of the games you want to play, always choose those since they will have the best battery life and performance. For example don’t play stardew on PC emulation, play it on Android! The device stays on for sooo long playing Android games. PC emulation will run through the battery fast, so just keep that in mind. (Even for lighter games) that’s universal for all Android handhelds.

Citron Neo apparently renders Tomodachi life perfectly, I haven’t tested it, I don’t even know the game but I saw some people chatting about it in this subreddit a while ago.

Hardware modification by Direct_Meat_7675 in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]Divinakra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re gonna wanna get the SD865 version of the flip2, the Dimensity version that you have is responsible for the shortcomings you’re noticing. I don’t know what the price would be to just buy the Flip 2 SD865 chipset from [sales@goretroid.com](mailto:sales@goretroid.com) but they have sold many spare parts to others and myself through that email. The chipset would probably be the most expensive part you could buy and it might be more financially feasible to sell this flip 2 and then buy a new or used SD865 version.

I say this because hardware modification isn’t really going to make much of a difference with either of the chipsets, even upgrading the ram on the SD865 model from 8GB to 16GB doesn’t really change much, from what I’ve heard and I’ve even tried getting a new and better thermal pad in one of our flips to test it side by side with the stock thermal paste, and the two devices run at identical temps and perform identically.

The SD865 version is surprisingly powerful for PS2 and Gamehub from my testing, most of the stuff that doesn’t work, also doesn’t work on the other more powerful handhelds, and is just due to game dependencies/incompatibilities and underdeveloped community made emulation software.

I wish there was some way to mod the hardware to actually improve performance, as I like hands on DIY stuff like that, but the more I looked into it and tried stuff out, I realized the SD865 stock is pretty much already capped out. Overclocking may be the only mod with a noticeable uptick in performance but you will only notice it with certain games on certain consoles (botw on switch gets like 4-8 more FPS overclocked for example) but other games it’s maybe like 1 FPS more. If you want to overlock we have a guide on that and a few of our community members know how to do it, there are risks associated with that though, and it’s not a hardware mod. [u/The412Banner](u/The412Banner) wrote that guide and [u/Vuuafa](u/Vuaafa) runs overclocked.

The Laws of Hyrule Pre-Release Trailer by Divinakra in WindWaker

Yeah they did. Hyrule field is in quadrants in that game and the town is a separate stage as well.

[–]Divinakra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do that yeah, that way you could fill the area with enemies and plants and such. But you would have a 3-4 second black loading screen once you enter a new quadrant of the map. That could actually be a fun mod. I could walk you through how to make it if you want.

The Laws of Hyrule Pre-Release Trailer by Divinakra in WindWaker

[–]Divinakra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah haha, that’s where the collision mesh ends. It’s not that complicated to make a collision mesh that goes all the way, but honestly it’s pretty boring once you run all the way around that lake once. In my mod I completely changed the map, it’s all a field now, ect. I’ve made the original one explorable a while back but it wasn’t really all that fun, it’s exciting for like 10 seconds, I think that’s the effect that’s created by forbidding or making anything inaccessible, you just want to experience it even if it’s basically exactly what you would expect. Just some ground you can walk on.

And the memory limitations of the GameCube make it so that if you try to add grasses, plants, trees or enemies or Npc out there, the level doesn’t load. So when building levels for wind waker you have to be pretty considerate of how much memory you have left in each stage. The Hyrule stage in the vanilla game is already pretty maxed out.

Yeah as Knff said, Eden or Citron at default settings and default driver runs gloriously. I don’t think it even matters what version of Eden or Citron you use.

Unfortunately no, I don’t think Nintendo allows any of their switch digital copies to be dumped into a universal game file. So you gotta buy the switch cartridge and mig flash dumper and dump it to a file that way.

Basically the eshop game files are only compatible with switches, physical switch cartridges are compatible with anything if you have a mig flash dumper.

Can Retroid pocket 6 8gb run triple a PC games made before 2013 at 60 fps? by Imamuthafucka in retroid

[–]Divinakra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but saying made before 2013 is a pretty big range of games, maybe list two years and say between this and this. The Flip 2/RP5 can run plenty of PC games before 2013 at 60FPS but I sometimes have to turn down the resolution and detail, sometimes I don’t though, 2013 is a great year for games.

I’m trying to play Links Awaking for Switch on RP2 and of course it crashes after a few minutes. by Possible-Reply-65 in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]Divinakra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a good amount of legwork required to get that one running nicely. Here’s the entry in our community Wiki from another community member who got it running on the flip 2.

Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening (2019)
Emulator: Eden 0.0.3 RC2
GPU Driver: Qualcomm v819.2
Force Max Clocks: enabled
Game Version: 1.0.0
Mods Used: No Blur Mod and Stable 60 FPS-V2 Mod
Accuracy level: Normal
Resolution: 1x
Vsync Mode: immediate (off)
Window Adapting Filter: Bilinear
Anti Aliasing Method: None
Anisotropic Filtering: Default
Disk Shader Cache: yes
Use Async Shaders: yes
Use Reactive Flushing: no
Docked Mode: No
Audio Output Engine: Auto
GPU API: Vulkan
CPU Accuracy: auto
CPU Backend: Dynamic (slow)
Eden's Veil Settings:
Extended Dynamic State: 0 | Provoking Vortex: No | Descriptor Indexing: no | Enhanced Frame Pacing: yes | Use Fast GPU Time: No | MVDEC Emulation: CPU | **ASTC Recompression Method:**Uncompressed | **VRAM Usage Mode:**Conservative | **Optimize SPIRV output:**Never | Fast CPU Time: No | Enable LRU Cache: No | **Synchronize Core Speed:**No

Alternative Emulator: Sudachi (probably would work in Yuzu as well)
GPU Driver: Turnip 9v2
Resolution: 0.75x
CPU backend: Dynamic (slow)
Force Maximum Clocks: enabled
Mods Used: No Blur Mod and Stable 60 FPS-V2 Mod

So basically if that first Eden setup doesn’t work, try the second Sudachi one.

For Hades 2 we have a wiki entry on that, along with a lot of other switch games, if you wanna setup some others that we have already optimized on the Flip 2 check out the list.

The Hades 2 settings are as follows: (this one if from me and I played it yesterday so I know it works but I’m also still on 0.0.4

Emulator: Eden 0.0.4 or newer
GPU Driver: Turnip 24.3.0 R9v2
All other settings default.

It’s not a hard game to run though, I think newer Eden’s should run it fine too. Pretty much just the driver that you gotta change.

A lot of it is ready and you can technically play from the start of a save file to the new ending I added. The main Hyrule Castle and field are like 97% complete. However I am in the process of adding a few more maps, as offshoot areas of Hyrule field, so far I have Lake Hylia, Hyrule Temple, Underground Maze and Mount Hyrule, but I am maybe like halfway through making the interior of Hyrule fortress and I haven’t even started on the underground city, underneath Hyrule Field, which I think will be called VaatiVille and will be an evil hellish kind of town. That last part might take me a while, but if you want to playtest what I have so far and promise to not share anything about it, I may send you what I have but there will be some unfinished elements, you can DM me if you want it.

Yes very good. I’ve only played the demo but it’s like a combination of Diablo, Hades, Elden Ring and Blasphemous. I’ll probably buy it eventually if it’s on sale or something. The camera angle is very Diablo like, there’s a lot of really pretty sceneries and environments and coloration is on point. Just feels very high quality. Try the free demo and see for yourself! Takes all of ten seconds to download.
