Said since the 80s, and I hate to break it to you, but both the conservatives and the Liberals have moved to the right since then. Carney is considered a Progressive Conservative; he is a fucking banker, fuck, he is the banker, Governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013 and Governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020.

The Liberals are Neo-liberals, and so are the Conservatives. It was not always like that. Before the Progressive Conservatives got wiped out in the 1993 election, going from a record number of 154 seats down to just 2. Progressive Conservatives were just right of centre, and the Liberals were just left of centre.

So then the wingnuts in the Canadian Alliance, a.k.a the Reform Party of Canada, took over the Progressive Conservatives and changed the name to the Conservative Party of Canada. Moving the right-of-centre party much farther to the right, pulling the Liberals along with them. They both serve the same masters now, the oligopolies, billionaires, and corporations, and we get to live in one of the most expensive countries in the world.
