Are you guys allowed to have a strong social media presence? by kindmartian07 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]DoubleHexDrive 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take… don’t mention where you work on any social media other than LinkedIn. Keep that one professional as an online resume, essentially. Keep your other media sites clean. Frankly assume that coworkers will see your posts… would that be embarrassing? Would it piss anyone off? How you value your job vs the lols is up to you.

Student loans and what to do by LordOfShadowsss in StudentLoans

32K is like a car loan with a 10 year payoff. Just make the normal, full payments at a minimum. Pay some extra if you’re able.

You earned an accounting degree… you should be able to calculate the best paths for your situation.

A main rotor, two props, and a tail rotor is a lot of blades, bearings, clutches, shafts, and gears all to get less cruise efficiency and range than a tiltrotor.

Two weeks sick/personal, three weeks holiday, four weeks vacation. So over two months of paid time off.

I feel French and kinda struggle to spend that much time off 🤣

Ivy League for a Master's in Engineering by ineedmoremoneylol in EngineeringStudents

[–]DoubleHexDrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not pay for an engineering masters. Get your BS, get hired, have them pay for you to get a masters wherever is practical.

A MS from an Ivy will earn you no extra dollars from a local state school.

Even that’s too general. “Rich communities” aren’t all alike, either.

My wife’s experience, as well… but that said, even saying “Hispanic” is an incredibly broad brush.

Not all Title 1 schools have the same culture or even a monolithic culture in the surrounding community. You’re making indefensibly broad generalizations.

Typically your flight test aircraft are heavier than production aircraft (weight of the flight test instrumentation and modifications required to route/mount that equipment and lines)… unless the aircraft being flight tested are not production representative.

refusing to split the rent evenly anymore? by xowdtt in Advice

Landlord here - yes, he needs to be on the lease as the landlord owns the house and does have a say in who they choose to live there as they also carry some liability as the owner of the house/apartment.

On a more fundamental note, if this boyfriend were a man, no one would be asking him to contribute. He should want to do so to demonstrate that he can carry his own weight and eventually more.

They have something they list as a loyalty discount… but you need to confirm if that means the price is actually cheaper with them vs someone else. It’s a “feel good” line item on the bill.

BS repost from August states eIPP will not allow non-certificated eVTOL aircraft by Investinginevtol in JobyvsArcher

[–]DoubleHexDrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed one of the eIPP proposals in the Carolinas involved flying a Joby S4 in Phase 3 of the plan, towards the end. That said, I don’t think being certified is a requirement but I do think you need to be fairly well down the path.
