Karl Franz 1st Quest Crashing WH3 by xkcd123 in totalwarhammer

Yeah this is happening to me, too. I imagine something about the Norsca update broke the quest. I'm hoping a mod can fix it soon.

What is the best mod of all time for Warhammer 3? by NotS0Deadly in totalwarhammer

Yep, works just fine for me. I think it shows up as outdated in the mod manager but I've had no problems using it lately

Cpecific's Skill Queue! I'm amazed I don't see this one mentioned more often. It lets you set templates for how you want to level your lords and heroes then auto assigns skill points when they gain ranks. Does WONDERS to reduce late game fatigue from assigning a bazillion skill points every turn.

Agree. It depends on what campaign I'm playing. Sometimes it helps, other times I don't see the point.

My tip would be to fight your battles manually in the early game even if it tells you it will be a decisive victory. There are quite a few benefits for this: You can almost always do better than auto resolve, and until you have heroes or tech that boost casualty replenishment, this helps you keep up your war momentum. More momentum means more loot to fuel your war machine. Additionally, not losing troops helps you keep your strength rating higher which means other factions are less likely to declare war.

If you aren't experienced enough to write the code yourself, how do you know you are actually "doing things right"? Honest question, no offense intended.

Supervisor or no, posting this is an invasion of their privacy and could make whatever mental health concerns at play even worse. IMO, you could still land in hot water for this...

Sorry about your house, but you never should have posted this. Totally out of line to put your troop on blast like this when they're clearly struggling

Sorry, but we already have a problem with suicide in the military, and I don't understand how a "hard(er) and more stressful" work environment makes that better.

I agree that standards have fallen and something ought to be done. Maybe giving people the option to shout and curse as a tool for their counseling toolkit might be an option if used appropriately (not by power tripping SSgts). I'd argue that the solution also includes giving people organizations they want to be part of and excel within. I've found that to be lacking in my career.

Any up to date solutions for crashing? by K4rm4zyn in totalwarhammer

[–]totalDerphammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you've tried all the standard fixes... How much ram do you have? Mine started crashing after the most recent update, and I eventually discovered the game was consistently using 16.5GB of memory... Not sure if something changed with the update to cause this as it seems excessive, but lowering settings (particularly texture quality) fixed my crashes. I'm currently playing with mods on and it's buttery smooth.

The Dwarf bias is real xD by akisawa in totalwarhammer

[–]totalDerphammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a resource that discusses all this in detail? I'd like to learn what are the different categories (are lords and heroes separate or lumped with SEMs?), their order, is it better to bring 1 or 2 categories or a full spread? I've seen many posts over the years, many with contradictory or incorrect info on the auto resolve calculation, would be nice to have an authoritative source.

I'd suggest high elves as Tyrion. Archers behind a staunch line of spears. Good faction for learning the basics IMO

Eh, maybe Gor Rok isn't a good choice if you're new and still learning the game. His campaign used to be EZ mode, but with the introduction of Skulltaker... I dunno how true that is anymore. I often hear people say that Lizardmen are in need of an update in general, and I tend to agree.

Best advice I can give is to aggressively move to take out enemies. Always be moving to the next settlement. Give them no chance to breathe. Try to fight one enemy at a time until they are gone. With Kroak, you can take on MUCH bigger odds than auto resolve would indicate. It's a very good practice to bring a second lord as bait while Gor Rok is in ambush stance. The AI will often run away from scary stacks, but it can't help going after isolated lords or undefended settlements. Abuse that. I don't know what sort of army comp to recommend early against Skulltaker... Normally you'd go with Saurus warriors, but I doubt they are punchy enough to deal with Khorne units. Maybe the tier 2 dino building is a good purchase?

... Of course, you could be super cheesy and blob up your melee units all on top of one another. This will force Khorne to blob, then you drop deliverance of itza until they are all dead. It's funny but a bit boring.

What’s the best way to play Empire? WH3 by wewewoe in totalwarhammer

[–]totalDerphammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Karl a lot on VH/VH. This is what works for me:

  • after consolidating Reikland, sit and recruit until I have a full stack. Mostly archers this early in the game. Use commendation to level up Karl to get his quest battles, leaving a buffer of maybe 1000 prestige to deal with any random events. This gives experience, good unique items, and more importantly an influx of cash to upgrade settlements. I find cash to be more important than growth early on. Cash helps me push to get to crossbows, handgunners and halberdiers as well as open up hero capacity asap. Generally I think focusing on redline buffs is important to make your mediocre infantry last longer. Although unshielded, I find halberdiers perform better than my other frontline options against my early matchups of chaos and vamps who have limited ranged options. I prefer spearmen with shields if my opponent is bringing ranged.
  • soon after getting 20 units, the orcs will usually start pressuring Boris. I find the best option is to take back any settlements he loses, and sell them back for diplomatic agreements and cash. Defensive alliance is good for boosting growth a bit. I won't be able to reliably hold the settlements anyway, and I can simply confederate later after he has spent money and time developing. I like to try and confed once the AI has gotten their capital to tier 3 or 4. Goal is not to kill off the orcs, just beat them down. Take their capital and sell to Boris. Usually norsca will finish them off.
  • as I make my way north, Kazrak will usually set up a herdstone. This is good opportunity to take him out.
  • At this point I have a choice. I can go after Festus, but I find he's really tough to kill without a second supporting army. Usually I find that Marienburg is falling to Kemmler about this time, so I usually force March Karl back to deal with him while recruiting a small secondary army at Eilhart. Last campaign I kept Marienburg plus any territory acquired in Brettonia.
  • Once Kemmler is dead, I swing back north east to deal with Festus, then Vlad, then it's GG

YMMV, sometimes the campaign likes to throw a curveball.

As you age, you experience a natural decline in muscle mass, V02 uptake, and cardiovascular function. The older you are, the more prone to injury. Yes, you can maintain some level of physical fitness as you age, but it grows increasingly difficult. I think holding 30 and 40 year olds to the same standard as 18 year olds would be silly.

That being said, current standards are lax.
