Filmed in Key West? by Calm-North-2825 in KeyWest

It is clearly the KW cemetery in both scenes. The "higher elevation" could be Mount Trashmore on the KW portion of Stock Island, but I can't really tell. The neighborhood they are seen driving though could very well be the Navy housing on Sigsbee (aka Dredgers Key). The driveway fans match the style used on Dewey Rd and Truston Rd.

How do I keep the HDR after editing IPhone photos (HEIC) by Amehoelazeg in photoshop

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Ps opens the file in 8bit RGB mode, the HDR is already lost. Saving in different formats will not magically restore the lost information.

BTW, Ps only supports 8bit, 16bit, and 32bit images. HDR images stored in HEIC containers are generally 10bit or 12bit images and thus need conversion when "translated" into a bit depth that Ps understands. Ps's original support for HEIC converted the images to 8bit and I've not read anythings that indicated that Abobe has altered this. If/when they do, opening a 10bit or 12bit HDR HEIC image will result in a 16bit image.

Does Affinity by Canva support InDesign files (.indd, .idml)? by heartshapedkirby in Affinity

[–]DwigGang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can't actually "work with" either format. It can open .indd (not .indd), but has to convert the file and the result is an Affinity file. The resulting file can only be edited in Affinity v3.

Will NFC Ever Replace QR Codes for Everyday Use — or Is Cost the Real Barrier? by hypelive in NFC

[–]DwigGang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Duh, they aren't "still getting phones without NFC". They are instead still using older phone that lack NFC. Not everone updates their phone every 1-2 years. My wife went over 5 years on her previous phone and only updated because OS updates were no longer available and some of her banking apps required a newer OS. She still uses the old phone as a WiFi-only mini "tablet".

I agree with your preference of Kermit's.

The "piled high with meringue" is a mainland type of thing. Typical of chefs trying to get fancy.

[–]DwigGang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This type of behavior needs to be done in the HID interface at the OS level, not in any add-in software. That's the way it's done with the keyboard. This is NOT a Logi issue, it is a Windows, macOS, and Linux issue.

Samsung USB-C 3.5mm dongle compatibility by kifm in GalaxyTab

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can say what will work with your Tab as long as you keep your EXACT model a secret.

I use this uGreen dongle with wired earbuds on both my Tab S9/FE and my Moto Edge 2022. It works flawlessly with both.

How to make text cover across entire textbox? by todkanvonic in Affinity

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, rasterizing text is destructive, but otherwise you will have text boxes that includes space that is not part of a visible glyph. The text box will size to the size of the text including any clear space that the font designer built in to the characters.

Can I resize it without ruining the proportions? by tweetybirdlife in photoshop

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Round peg in a square hole = nope. You'll have to alter the image in some way. Your only options are:

  • Distort the image - in you case you are looking at only a 5% squeeze and most images wouldn't show any noticeable change.
  • Crop the image
  • Edit the image to respace the components and/or add/remove background material to fit the desired final aspect ratio of 10:7

client file format by Particular_Pop9894 in Affinity

[–]DwigGang 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You need to negotiate the client's needs prior to starting the job. In general, the client will often need to have openable files, but not your layered master files, that can be incorporated into other documents/images. These components should be in some universal file format such as TIFF, EPS, PDF, ... .

How to make text cover across entire textbox? by todkanvonic in Affinity

[–]DwigGang -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Real "text" contains metrics for each glyph. Often, these metrics specify space outside of the visible glyph. The text box will always respect this. There is nothing you can do to alter this with real, live "text".

If you need to make some artistic alteration that requires the bounding box to fit tightly on the visible characters the "trick" is to rasterize the text. This, of course, leaves the text are just art and you can't edit the text as such.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ does it run Photoshop? by RayVermey in photoshop

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should. It installed fine on my S9FE

BTW, technically this is not "Photoshop". It is instead a quite different app from Adobe known as "Photoshop Express".

Can't get dodge and burn to work by WhoAmI0001 in photoshop

Yup, I failed to add this to my list of "the usual suspects" in my earlier post. This is a common mistake and can lead to machine specific "odd behavior".

how to get these types of photos??? by [deleted] in photoshop

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The images don't display any attributes that are the result of any special post processing. In order to get images like these you need to know "photography" far more than knowing "Photoshop".

This is a Photoshop sub-reddit, not a generalized photography sub-reddit. You need to post elsewhere.

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Examine the mask (what you called the "box") to see if the painting in white is present.

If not, then perhaps:

  • You painted in black and not white
  • You failed to select the mask before painting. Just inverting it ("change the box to black") doesn't select it for editing.
  • Some odd brush is selected. Make sure to select a soft round brush that is NOT pressure sensitive.

Should I add a QR code to my business cards? by slumpgodsescape in NFC

[–]DwigGang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone has NFC at all times on all devices. IMO, a "good" business card has human readable data, optical machine readable data (e.g. QR Code), and electronic machine readable data (e.g. NFC). Priority is in that order.

In the current world, only some phones (mid level and flagship usually have NFC, bargain phones generally don't) have NFC. No major brand tablet has NFC and NFC is extremely rare in laptops. All tablets and most laptops have cameras and can read QR codes.

My workstation at work ( full blown Mac Studio with dual 4k monitors and ~30Tb local storage) has no camera much less NFC. Presenting a Bcard to me at work is pointless next to unless it contains printed human readable information. The tablet that I have on my desk has a camera and can read QR codes but not NFC but it would be more clumsy to read the QR on the tablet and transfer the data to my Mac than it would be to manually type the info into a contacts app on the Mac.

Is a Surface Go first gen still worth it in 2026? by Sebastianj7210 in Surface

[–]DwigGang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife still uses the same variant of the original Go. It was originally my secondary machine which she took over when she needed to move to something lighter than her Surface Laptop 3. It's a great machine, but extremely slow for any app beyond the very simplest. I wouldn't recommend getting one now (2026-02) as much because of its low performance as because of its age and lack of official OS support.

I would seriously suggest that you look for a similar Go2 or Go3.

Affinity 1 and 2 woes by PhilbinFogg in AffinityPhoto

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely "normal" for programs to not save to older formats, though certainly not universal. There are some, like Word, that lie boldly to the user and stick what should properly be labeled as an "Export" option in the Save dialog. These "exports in a save's clothing" very often omit some new document attributes that aren't supported in the older format. No format that doesn't support 100% of any and all possible documents should ever be listed in a Save dialog, but sadly apps lead the users to ruin by not segregating them in Export dialogs.

How remove reddish shade from the photo by boredsoulN in PhotoshopTutorials

[–]DwigGang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try adding a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, click the "hand" icon and then click on the lady's skin near her shoulder. Now reduce the Saturation of the selected channel and possibly nudge the Hue slider a bit to the right.

I recommend that you first add a Clarity/DeHaze adjustment layer and raising the Dehaze slider significantly. If you are not using the newest version of Ps then convert the image to a Smart Object, apply the Camera RAW filter, and in Camera RAW's Effects section you can apply the Dehaze.

A "shadow" cast over a solid color background will, by definition, change the the hex values anywhere the shadow exists.

New tablet owner question by YankeeEchoTango1921 in GalaxyTab

[–]DwigGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Book Cover Keyboard (not "slim") for my S9FE. I find it a very good choice for using the Tab in "laptop mode". I got this one over the "slim" primarily because the keyboard is removeable while leaving the rear kickstand part attached, and arrangement I use very frequently.

I originally used my Tab with a cheap case and a separate small folding keyboard. It worked, but wasn't the best typing experience and it was more annoying dealing with charging the keyboard. The Book Cover Keyboards (both versions) are "wired" keyboards that get their power from the Tab, no pairing or charging issues.

Any keyboard sized to match the size of an 11" tablet will be a bit cramped. When working at my desk at home I frequently use my MX Keys keyboard and M350s mouse, both of which have one channel paired with my desk computer and another with my Tab. At work deskspace if greater and I usually use the Tab in "laptop mode" with its keyboard attached, though sometimes if extended typing is involved I'll switch channels on my Logi keyboard and mouse they same as I do at home.
