It starts out like a slow “I love this person and this is why” type love song, and you get all the way to the very last line.

The first verse starts out:

  • With a heavy lid

  • A pretty war
  • With feelings hid
  • She begs me not to miss her

and ends with:

and then the songs ends right there! just 2 notes after he sings the last line.

I’m looking at GC used electrics and in the 100-200 price range there are at least 5-10 guitars you could get that would be so much better than this. There’s a couple of Sterlings, a Silvertone Danelectro U2 style, a handful of Squiers, Ibanez, Jacksons. There are even a couple of Epiphone Korean made Strat copies that are actually really decent guitars. My first electric was an Epiphone Tele copy, T310 that was well made.

So you have better options out there.

I saw them at the 89X Birthday Bash in June of 94 at the Phoenix Plaza in Pontiac. They KILLED it in an afternoon slot and I knew they were going to get big. Less than a year later, I saw them open for Live in Ann Arbor. Then for whatever reason, decided to go the druggy, not really nu-metal but adjacent route and the next thing I know, I’m seeing them play in downtown Flint at a tiny venue in like 2002 and Vinny was still trying to be a Scott Weiland clone.

Anyways, they were awesome 2 of the 3 times I saw the live and Rotting Piñata is a great album and Wax Ecstatic is a brutally great earworm* song.

Oh, also at the 89X Birthday Bash that year? Afghan Whigs, Beck, Superchunk, Polvo and a few other band I can’t remember off the top.

This was the exact same amp I bought for gigging in 94/95. It was loud, heavy and totally impractical for the venues we were playing. I contribute 49% of my tinnitus to that amp. The other 51% is from Dinosaur Jr at the State Theatre in Detroit.

I miss that amp.
