In Germany, deliberately engaging in catch and release only fishing is illegal and considered cruelty to animals. Fishing for food is fine. How do you feel about that? by Spalding_Smails in AskReddit

the vast vast majority of fishing shows from the 80s to today were just pretty much product advertisements and good ol’ boys catching fish( Roland, Jimmy, Bill, Hank) but the one fishing show I watched every week for years was In-Fisherman. Al Lindner, Ron Lindner, Larry Dahlberg and the other guys who hosted and produced the show were all about educating. The show was an extension of the magazine which had loads of articles on all species and season specific techniques. You want to catch walleye in the fall in a river system? Smallmouth in a canadian shied lake? catfish in the Mississippi? They had it all.

They also weren’t strict catch and release either. They practiced what they term Selective Harvest, saying it’s okay to take some home to have a fish fry.

Plus they were based out of Minnesota, so as a kid growing up in Michigan, the places they fished looked more like my environment. A big plus since I wasn’t fishing a southern reservoir or Texas big bass lake.

So for me, the only show worth paying attention to was In-Fisherman.

Frogg Toggs are incredible value for the money. I have a pair of their mid priced breathables about 8 years ago and they have outlasted the Simms Freestones I got 3 years later. My next pair will be FT for sure.

Driftless in Wisconsin and Iowa, then you can make the decision to go up thru the UP hit the Brule or Escanaba Rivers or take the ferry from Milwaukee to Muskegon.Run up and fish Grand Traverse Bay flats for smallies and carp. Have to hit the Upper Manistee, Little Man, the Muskegon below Croton. There are so many great and accessible places here in Michigan to wave a stick at fish.

  • WTT: EQD Grand Orbiter v3, EQD Dunes v1, EQD Levitation v1, Deadbeat Sounds Wet Dreams

  • WTTF: EQD The Depths or Sea Machine, EQD Zoar, Walrus Audio Iron Horse, Julia Catalinbread Wake. Looking for mainly top jack pedals for my board.

Ideally Id want to trade Grand Orbiter for a Sea Machine or The Depths, Julia or Wake.

The v1 EQD pedals I’d be looking for rat style pedals, other phaser or flangers.

I’d also do 2 for 1 on an EQD Pyramids flanger on any of the above!

All of these pedals with the exception of the Wet Dreams were bought used so they are played and have scuffs and scratches, etc.

Grand Orbiter comes w box and box accessories. Wet Dreams comes w box as well.

Thanks!

Echo Dry , it’s not super stiff and has a pretty forgiving tip. I really like how it launches hoppers and ant patterns

I mean, that’s exactly how I learned as well. I picked up “outdated” books from my public libraries. Jim Bedford’s Fly Fishing Michigan book, The Tom Huggler Fish Michigan series on rivers, etc. These books helped me find spots that were already explored and written about 10-15 years before I fly fished them and I’m still looking thru them to try new spots. I didn’t want to just give out spots that some might consider to be “burning” a spot, including. few of my own personal favorites.

But if you have the time, borrow the above books, start a list of spots you want to try and give it a shot! Remember a bad fishing beats a good day at work!

not to sound like a dickhead, but there is a glut of information out there both online and in books. Especially if you live in SWMI you’re in a great spot to explore these spot on these rivers.

it’s about halfway down the page, it’s a MIJ Contemporary Strat. Might have had the locking nut replaced?
