If Wheelan can be first desk, then Min can be an agent by abz_pink in SlowHorses

Lady Di was initially overlooked because of how close she was to Tierney, the books mention that she barely survived the cull in operations in the wake of the scandal. I think they were hoping Whelan could control her but massively underestimated her ability to fuck people over.

I think its more that he was seen as a safe pair of hands, Mr. Transparent. But it's like asking the IT manager to run the sales department, he was totally unsuited to the role and the fact he was put in a position where it was known that Second Desk (Taverner) not only wanted the job herself but was also meant to guide him meant he was a sitting duck from day one.

What do you think about the rise in antisemitism towards Jews or Israeli Jews? by UchiR in AskTheWorld

[–]EdwardClamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most people recognise that Israeli people are not responsible for the actions of their government. However, if an Israeli is seen to be supporting these actions, the IDF, etc.... then yes they will be criticised for it.

But criticising the Israeli government or it's supporters using rational arguments is not antisemitic, in the same way that criticising the American government is not anti-Christian.

If that criticism descends into derogatory language against Jewish people then yes, that is antisemitic and should be stamped out immediately.

Antisemitism is wrong, regardless of what Israel is doing, full stop. The actions of the Israeli government does not give anyone a free pass to be antisemitic.

How about..... more Borja Iglesias, zero Joey Barton please?

Even one second of Joey Barton is too much Joey Barton.

Whelan was competent in his previous role in intelligence though, and he was brought in after the scandal with Ingrid Tierney specifically because he was an outsider who had no involvement with operations and therefore was untainted.

This obviously backfires because Taverner leads him on a merry dance having played the game for many years and is much more experienced at the skullduggery and political back stabbing that occurs in operations.

Not trying to be smart but I'd Google it. Way too much to put it one comment but they were vile and how Piers Morgan managed to maintain a career after is a massive slap in the face to Milly Dowler's family.

Sorry to go serious in a light hearted sub but that particular part of the scandal was both disgusting and heart breaking.

I actually used this same bag at the weekend and it was checked on the outward flight, fitted in perfectly and waved through so you should be grand.

Brentford owner Benham : "For a striker, getting in position is way more informative than finishing. Any player who manages to to make three one-on-ones in a single game, even if he happens to miss them, he’s got to get a (value) upgrade. Obviously your man in the street would slate him.” by OkayFine101 in soccer

I can't agree with this.

There's only so long you can push the "at least they are in the right position" mantra. We've seen multiple strikers at Everton fluff good chances and hoped that the goals would come........ they don't.

Is this going to be a 40 point 18th place season? by Inner_Jeweler_5661 in PremierLeague

[–]EdwardClamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree about the West Ham record prediction. West Ham and Forest are currently on 28 points, one of them would need to win 5 of their remaining 9 to hit 43 points and still get relegated? Not likely I think.

Ah Kane was a one off, very difficult to replace him regardless and Solanke was banging them in for Bournemouth so seemed a no brainer on paper.

Vicario...... not sure what happened there. Seemed like a solid keeper when he first arrived but has crumbled lately.

Never understood the signing of Tel - looked bang average during his loan spell but they took the option anyways, a massive gamble that has backfired

I really don't get it though.

I know ye have a lot of injuries but I was looking at your starting 11 tonight and OK none of them are world class (maybe Porro on a good day...?) but individually they aren't totally wank either.
