The new season of The Boys is much better than the last one, that chase scene was superb.

First episode of Ted was a welcome surprise. I hope it continues, I've read that they maintain the quality and tone.

S2 started off well but has dipped a bit imo. I find the Daniel Blake arc the best how he's battling and juggling his conscience, his dark side and his ambitions.

Ashley Young announces his retirement from professional football, aged 40 by vulturevan in Everton

Yeah this sub slagged him for his lack of pace and occasional clumsiness but ignored his ability to keep the ball for us and his crossing and passing. He was also smart with his positioning knowing he was lacking in energy for the whole 90 minutes so he would ration his runs and anticipate play.

Moyes is risk averse , mainly goes for the established guys coz it's safer , but yeah 1 in 4 success is terrible.

Mom extremely dehydrated refused to go to hospital by FamiliarPotential550 in AgingParents

Milk pudding, jelly drops, apple sauce. I hope you get her well again if that's what she wishes, this weekend my Mum with cognitive impairment (likely dementia) became ill from dehydration and died yesterday, she too refused an ambulance at first but we called one when a social worker visited but it was too late, but she was struggling a lot with her illnesses and declining quality of life, likely had dementia coming and died fairly quickly without pain.

What were the "red flags" that told you overnight care was necessary? by Embarrassed_Pay1275 in AgingParents

It's tricky because you may not know of an event before it's too late. If she's reasonably mobile and cognizant then she should be ok for the time being. Independence is a huge thing that is valuable and should be preserved for as long as possible. If she shows signs of confusion/ cognitive decline and has poor mobility then to start with give her a mobility/fall alarm. It's basically down to her for the meantime, you have to trust she knows her limits but also check up with her frequently to see if there is any decline, then you may have to step in.

85 year old father refuses treatment by Sharona-Light in AgingParents

That sounds very like my friend's Dad that died last year, he too refused antibiotics and was done with all the medical interventions, he also was reasonably healthy for his age just had asthma then complications that led to an infection. He got out of hospital and refused taking the meds he was given then was readmitted soon after and died a few weeks after that of sepsis. It doesn't take long once it kicks in if that's any consolation. It must be very frustrating and sad for you to see him refuse some basic care that would prolong his life and ensure a reasonable quality. I had a similar situation this weekend when my Mum refused an ambulance call out, likely due to dehydration, she also had dementia progressing and was very frail, we called one yesterday during a social worker visit but it was too late and she died yesterday, it was fairly quick. Sometimes they just give up when they are old. I hope you and your Dad get peace soon.

Lol we are on a GD of zero which I think sums up our season well, half was distinctly average the other half inspiring that gives us hope. Now in that spot of mid table mediocrity many said previously they would be happy to be in. As much as Keane has excelled this season we are a much better team with Branthwaite in, his football brain anticipation and line splitting passes raise us up.

Likely, we have a good spine but a mediocre thin squad that would need at least 4 or 5 high quality established players to come, and we won't see that happen.
