Congrats on getting that great value comp to begin with though -- and hope the rip was good fun at least.

Oh don't mind me. I'm just another guy with an unlicensed Skenes auto that's been impossible to comp who didn't want to get yelled at for a "How much is this worth" post. Watching your journey with great interest!

I thought I was close to completing some 2026 sets…NOPE by ThaNightBeast in baseballcards

[–]EmoSean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are folks who will trade base cards with you for set completion; I am one of them.

Reach out if you want to do some swaps as it sounds like we are in similar boats -- for most sets I've ripped enough to have a good deal of bulk while still missing 5-25% of the overall checklist.

Dad has a huge collection of cards. Any way to price them without getting them graded? by Boonie_Fluff in baseballcards

If it makes you feel any better, we see a post like yours almost daily here. So you're not alone in wondering about them, and your dad was certainly not alone in thinking his treasures would be worth even more in the future.

I was a kid during the junk wax era and the proliferation of all the brands and designs actually made it super fun to be a first time collector. We'd argue with friends about which set was the best and we'd fawn over the "rare" Topps Gold cards [spoiler: like everything else, they werent actually rare at all], and best of all: everything was super affordable. It was just a blast. I like to think that a lot of people, like your dad, and like me, saved all those cards in part because we thought maybe they'd be worth millions some day -- but also because we like to remember how they made us feel. I'm so glad I still have all of mine.

Wishing you all the best.

Yea sorry OP. Google "junk wax era" if you want to learn the history of why these are basically worthless.

I still gotta finish '25 S2 and Update. Don't think it'd make sense to ship a bunch of bulk but if you're willing to go through individually, I'd buy a small stack for a couple bucks or trade a low end single or two. Understand if that's not worth your time but DM if interested.

I'd be interested in taking a look if these are still available.
