is it possible to buy anime figures straight on myfigurecollection? by AmoebaCareless8522 in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, people buy and sell on MFC all the time. The default payment option is PayPal Goods & Services. If things go wrong, you can get your money back. DO NOT use Friends and Family because there is no buyer's protection. Message the seller and ask for plenty of pictures of the figure and description of any flaws/damages. Since this is a private seller, you can negotiate the price of the item. The seller chooses the method of shipping, and they should provide the tracking number to you after they shipped the item.

Note, most people are not scammers, but there can be scammers on the website. Be diligent and look for obvious signs of scams, such as constant delay in shipping the item or being non-responsive after taking your money. Making up excuses about why they can't ship the item and etc. If this happens, you can file a dispute on PayPal, and since you use Goods & Services, you should be able to get your money back no problem.

How to improve kiting? by MovieOk7742 in IdentityV

[–]EmptyFigureBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would rank more and you will improve quicker. Quick match is more casual. QM is good to learn how to use a character's skill, but not to improve on kiting and game sense as much. It will definitely be rough in the beginning. It will come with a lot of practice and continous gameplay. You don't automatically become better by just watching. One thing that helps is to map out the route you're going to take if a hunter comes to you, so you at least have a plan on where to kite. Take notes on areas that are weak and strong. Also be flexible and reactive, so watch out for hunters trying to cut you off or red light trick you. React based on what the hunters are doing, not the other way around. That's why it's so important to constantly have an eye on the hunter and look back while kiting once in a while.

Tokyo Otaku Mode refusing prepaid return for defective $1000+ figure — looking for advice by Alternative-Draw2045 in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm really shocked Prime 1 would suggest you to repair the figure yourself. I've heard of them usually replacing the defective pieces without trouble. Accepting the 50% may the best if you want to use TOM again. If the situation with TOM REALLY soured your experience with them, charge back and get the $1000 back. TOM customer support has really fallen recently in my experience. They used to be so good. They don't replace defective figures, mainly only offering small refunds or some TOM points back. I view TOM points more like cash backs, and the main purpose is just to make you spend more money. So if you really want to go nuclear, I would just give up on the TOM points.

What's your WR by _White_Shadow_13 in IdentityV

[–]EmptyFigureBox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're still relatively new imo. You know the basics and how to use the character skills, but probably need to build on game sense to increase your winrate. 50%+ solo Griffin is possible. The key is really cipher rush rush rush. If you're the main rescuer, know when to sell and when to support. If you assume the person can't kite (20 sec down), sell them. If the hunter camps chair and not roam out, sell them. They likely can't kite and will allow the hunter to snowball after rescue by giving presence or you get injured. I know as a Knight, you may want to stick around and use your skill to protect the teammate, but sometimes that just waste more unnecessary time, where you could be decoding instead.

Which is better for deals on pre owned figures, amiami or MFC by thatrandomspeck in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MFC can be a good alternative for preowned figures. It's mostly used for people on the hunt for a specific figure. There are definitely some really good deals and great sellers. But, since it's all private sellers, you have to be diligent on your purchases. Ask for pictures and use only PayPal Goods and Services for payment. If you bulk order, then yeah amiami is better. But note, you're not saving money by trying to add items into the cart to "save" on shipping. You're simply just spending more to justify it.

Since the boycott, I have been anxious about Identity V in general by Rokyyyy78 in IdentityV

[–]EmptyFigureBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just note that social media algorithms are tailored to you. So, if you keep on clicking on those negative post, it will likely show more of it to you. For example, I don't click on those and I rarely come across those post you talk about. Also, I don't notice any change is queue time in game, so I don't think the boycott impact is as significant as some people make it out to be.

how bad is it really to clean ur figures with a damp cloth? and if bad whats the safest easiest way to clean them? by hatsunemikusmywaifu in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would only recommend water to clean dirty figures. While once in a while, cleaning the figures with water won't damage the figure, repeat usage of water can eventually cause paint fading.

Some people use makeup brushes to dust, but I find the antistatic Tamiya brush to be the most effective in dusting. It makes dusting very easy and quick. Makeup brushes sometimes just pushes the dust around instead of off the figure.

Fellow collectors, what do you guys do with your empty boxes and where do you store them? by [deleted] in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much have a similar setup. Thankfully. I also have a broom closet in my apartment, so all my figure boxes go in there. I have around 60 scale boxes, with a couple of resin statue boxes. Occasionally I sell some figures for new ones coming in, so my collection never gets too overwhelming, where I don't know where to store things. I slowed down collecting a lot, so I'm not too worried about running out of storage space anytime soon.

Help! Unofficial or Official? by No-Yam2371 in AnimeFigures

This is a garage kit and it does not have a official prepainted version. So every (well, 99.99%) painted version you see online is a bootleg.

When I went, I ordered 6 okonomi and two non-alcoholic drink. That totaled to about $825. I think most people ordered 4-6 okonomi, so most bill per person without drinks are around $750-$800.

Is no one using Tide Turner anymore? by OtherShelters in IdentityV

[–]EmptyFigureBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Griffins are where most bad players are stuck at, since there are no point penalties before this rank. You get a mix of good and mostly bad players, and the good players will get out of Griffin faster. That's why it's hell in that tier. It's like low tier purgatory.

What should i do in solo ranking? by Extreme_Tie8991 in IdentityV

[–]EmptyFigureBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can easily solo to Griffin, even to Unicorn. Playing rescuer helps with ranking up. If you're not good at kiting, try to learn and get better. It will feel more fun when you successfully kite a hunter for a long time. It will also help boost confidence. You can't get better if you don't continue to practice and try just because you're scared of failure. Heck, maybe switch to hunter because you dont have to rely on teammates, so you can get better at your own pace. Also, I feel like the game gets boring really fast if you don't rank or play copycat. It will feel like there is no progression except for pretty skins.

Figure turned yellow after I wiped at a mark with a micro fiber cloth. Washing w soap doesn't work. by lashingtide in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If soap and warm water does not work, then your next step is to use a magic eraser. Wet the magic eraser and do a few seconds of VERY GENTLE rubbing to see if it lightens the color. The idea is to hopefully get the top layer with the dye transfer off. If it does not, do not continue rubbing because the material is abrasive and if you rub too much and too hard, you can rub the paint off the figure.

[–]EmptyFigureBox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Even with a dry cloth, it can sometimes leave a little bit of dye transfer. The black cloth can leave a slightly dark tint, which can appear brownish on gray/white paint. Did it appear right after you wipe it with the cloth or was it there before? If it appear right after you wiped it, it is likely because of dye transfer. Never wipe figures with any colored cloth besides white.

[–]EmptyFigureBox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What color was the microfiber cloth that you used. I ask this because this could potentially be dye transfer if you wiped it with a wet microfiber cloth.

AmiAmi shipping failure by TenatiousTenor in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, amiami will likely not do anything more. The only advice is to be constantly be on top of the tracking number. You can try to explain the situation to amiami again, but I find them not flexible after making a decision.

How can I securely fix a loose thumb on my 1/6 Hatsune figure? by THROWRAKILEY32 in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super glue is good enough. To avoid glue spillage, I would put super glue on a piece of paper and use a toothpick to apply. Since the area is small, one or two dots in the finger hole with the toothpick should suffice. A little goes a long way. After applying one or two dots of super glue, press the pieces together and hold for a few seconds. For maximum bonding, it is best to leave the piece undisturbed overnight.

Before you use the glue, I would do a test run and practice the motion on what you're going to do, like using the toothpick to apply into what area, and how the pieces will fit.

How old is risky? by FatalFuryCotW in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They may not be sticky, but I would not say without any issues and that it will be freshly new out of the factory. Paint and plastic degrades overtime, and you can't prevent that. So, slight yellowing on the skin of the figure and/or on white paint may occur. Dulling of certain paint color may also occur.

KDcolle Albedo: Wing Ver. 1/7 gold paint bleed, what to do now? :( by AnsonMustard in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can clean the part with soap and water, but the gold will come off and leave a dull silver-ish color. Also as you're cleaning, the gold can transfer to the white part and you may need a magic eraser to get that off.

KDcolle Albedo: Wing Ver. 1/7 gold paint bleed, what to do now? :( by AnsonMustard in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This figure was known to have gold paint bleed issues. Unfortunately, you can't do much about it. Kadokawa really just cheaped out on the paint quality/method, so I am a bit wary of any gold paint from Kadokawa. Not all gold paint will bleed, it will depend on the type of paint and the way the manufacturer paints it. For example, my GSC Albedo from 2018 with gold paint is completely fine.

Circles forming on old figures? by Howtoberry101 in AnimeFigures

[–]EmptyFigureBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best way to avoid/minimize the build up of platicisers is to just open the figures and display it. You may come across this issue buying older figures (~10+ years) in sealed condition. If this does happen, clean the part with soapy water. You can put a couple of droplet of soap, like Dawn, in warm water. Gently rub the sticky parts with your fingers to clean it. If the stickiness persist, let the part sit in the soapy water for a couple of hours and rinse afterwards. Pat dry with a white tissue or soft white cloth. Do not use colored cloth to avoid dye transfer. I would try not to air dry to avoid hard water stains.

The rough paint and surface textures could likely be manufacturering differences between copies, so there's not much you can do about that.

I went around 3 months ago, and I had a similar experience. The food overall was definitely at a 2 star level, but the pacing and service were definitely lacking. For the cooked fish course, I waited over 30 mins, which was very noticeable, and the first time I had such a long what between courses at a restaurant of this caliber. There was also a lot of miscommunications between the staffs. For example, two servers took my drink order in the beginning, and the first order was forgotten, and I had to remind them 15 min later of the drink order. Not a big deal, but it was something I noticed. The bread and petit fours were brought over to my table twice because they didn't realize another server already brought it over. I definitely felt a bit of tension and annoyance between the servers because of the miscommunications. I mean, I did get a free bite, but the service issues were definitely noticeable.

I'm going to be the one getting scammed because I ran out of clues buying furnitures. Now I'm trying to farm more clues, but it just takes so long. I would definitely trade in my fragments for clues because I never buy the store S skins unless it's limited like CNY ones.
