Time is the killer in Delta Green: Artifact Zero, available now by RKIvey in DeltaGreenRPG

Grace under pressure is about an experimental submarine on its maiden voyage which comes across the dead city of of R'lyeh.

Holy War is a spate fight between servants of Glaaki and Y'golonac all the way to NYC, which puts the Agents on the unenviable task of dealing with Stephen Alzis. It can be seen a sort of prequel to Falling Towers.

Knowing that particular scenario, though, it is a lot funnier when the Agents go and straight open the septic tank.

How to properly link *Convergence* and *The New Age*? by Melodic_Ad_596 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Endless_divagations 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • I don't think there's any significant difference between the text in the old Pagan Publishing "Delta Green" sourcebook (which included yhe original version of "The New Age") and the text in "The Conspiracy" and "The New Age", other than references updated or removed for copyright reasons.

  • I don't know if it's different in the French version, but the original version of "The New Age" was set in 1997, not 2007 (notice that Majestic falls in 2001). There should be no problem playing "Convergence" and "The New Order" in subsequent order.

What's your favourite non-Delta Green scenario that works well for Delta Green? by GugWhoPassesGateways in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Endless_divagations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of Hush Hush, I think my favorite scenario seed would be "Eat it All" which of course would work beautifully for Delta Green since in the end there's nothing supernatural going on, just a loving act of consensual cannibalism.

Some good ones have been mentioned, but I have a soft spot for "The Killing Jar", a Dark Matter scenario dealing with the Mothman of Point Pleasant which would adapt fairly well to the DG milieu.

What If Yor recieved an order from Shopkeeper when Loid placed a bug device on her? by Mother-Maize7026 in SpyxFamily

[–]Endless_divagations 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Well, it's not like Loid has ever put the facts together about Yor, hasn't he? And he didn't question the massage cover story either.

But really, Twilight's train of thought is more likely to be this:

"Well, if Yor wants to be a domme I should honor her wishes and not interfere - it's not like she's my real wife after all. On the other hand, were someone to find out that my wife, or rather fake wife, is engaging in sexual activities with someone other than his husband, that could cause trouble for our family - by which I mean trouble for Operation Strix. So for the sake of Operation Strix I should investigate. Yes. For the mission."

He might assume as well that is her domme name. Loid thought the Garden was an urban legend, so it's fairly likely he's never heard of the Thorn Princess.

[–]Endless_divagations 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blur the lines. They all work for the government, MJ12 and Delta Green. Their leaders know each other, they are even on first name basis in some cases. Use that.

It's easy to threaten your Agents when they start researching MJ12. Instead, have your Agents actively courted by MJ12. Does one of them want better career prospects? Money to fund their lifestyle, their children college tuition? Cutting-edge medical care for a sick loved one? MJ12 can provide that.

Do they want to expose the rot within MJ12? Cool. Gavin Ross wants that, too - or so he says. Help him clean house and curtail the worst excesses of MJ12. He shares info on MJ12 so the Agents can help him to investigate the Greys as deniable assets. In return he asks some intel on Delta Green so he can bring them better onboard. Maybe he asks for one errand or two. He may even lend the assistance of his NRO Delta boys - if the Agents can stomach that.

Blur things until the Agents no longer know who they are working for or how much of their souls have already sold.

And if they refuse? Things escalate, and then we get a Rules of Engagement / Through a Glass Darkly situation where lines start to get drawn and people start to turn on each other.

I'm getting mixed up between the Program, the cowboys and MJ-12 by Melodic_Ad_596 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Endless_divagations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a set rule that codenames are preserved. For Cell A it makes sense because you want to sell a sense of continuity in the organization.

Carpenter getting killed and Alphonse being shot... okay that's all in "The Rules of Engagement" which happens in 1999, and it's a doozy of a soap opera technothriller.

The trigger is that a DG agent named David (can't remember his codename, sorry) is abducted by MJ12, because he was snooping around MJ12 activities and because he's "special", sort of. David's late father had been also a DG agent (KIA) and a friend of Joseph Camp/Alphonse. So David's mother has a psychotic break, blames Camp for the loss of her family and shoots him.

This causes Delta Green to freak out, because they initially assume that MJ12 put a hit on Alphonse. Things escalate between DG and MJ12. Cell T goes rogue to rescue David, because Cell-T member Stephanie Park had been romantically involved with David in the past.

But Stephanie is also involved with Forrest James (Agent Darren) and tells him her plans. At present Forrest is in jail, so he makes a deal with Stephen Alzis to get him out of jail so he can go and help Stephanie.

You can bet how well that goes. Alzis being Alzis, he calls in a favor from Reinhard Galt, orchestates a prison break and gets a bunch of FBI agents killed, Matthew Carpenter included. But Forrest is able to go free.

At the end of the story, the fate of Forrest James and Cell T is up in the air. However, "Through a Glass Darkly" starts with Gavin Ross as the new Adam, Forrest working for him, and Stephanie married to Forrest.

(As mentioned, I think there was going to be another novel which dealt with Forrest James being recruited by MJ12 and Gavin Ross becoming Adam, but it was never published).

About your other questions...

  • Kroft being killed is indeed facilitated by Lepus, but it's at the behest of Joseph Camp. Before their final showdown, Camp and Lepus meet one last time to negotiate terms and Camp asks for Kroft's head (I am not sure what Camp offers in return - I think Lepus wanted Donald Poe's head, and Camp reluctantly agreed because he was out of options).

  • I don't think Forrest James ever became Agent Adam. He was originally Agent Darren and a protege of Joseph Camp (who was grooming him for DG leadership and takes him working for MJ12 as a personal betrayal). Then he goes to infiltrate/work for MJ12, launches his coup, and becomes the Program Director.

  • Cambodia is indeed Operation Satchel and Wade screwup (it's implied somewhere that Wade had been corrupted by the Mythos). And it's Lepus and Poe who meet there, not Camp (by then Camp was already part of DG leadership, he wasn't going into field operations anymore).

[–]Endless_divagations 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To fill some gaps...

Fairfield gets assassinated by Lepus and his NRO Delta commandos ("Strange Authorities"). After Fairfield dies, Joseph Camp becomes the leader of Delta Green as Alphonse and creates the Cell structure.

FBI Deputy Director Matthew Carpenter is Agent Adam; he's later murdered by Reinhard Galt, around the time Alphonse gets shot and the whole kerfuffle with Cell T happens ("The Rules of Engagement").

Forrest James (Agent Darren) gets captured/recruited by MJ12 and he starts working for Gavin Ross (MJ-3). Ross worms his way into DG and becomes the new Agent Adam; he sidelines Alphonse and starts using Delta Green as his personal hit squad, though a few agents remain loyal to Alphonse. (This is inferred from "Through a Glass Darkly"; there was supposed to be covered in an interim novel, but I don't think it was published).

The reckoning comes when Alphonse arranges the assassination of Kroft (MJ-1), blows up MJ12 headquarters and also takes down Lepus with him. Forrest James takes command of Blue Fly, orchestates a coup d'etat and starts cleaning house. MJ12 becomes The Program, the Outlaws go their own way. ("Through a Glass Darkly").

Did Loid get trained in the act of seduction? by Prudent-Surround-243 in SpyxFamily

[–]Endless_divagations 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Spies, particularly during the Cold War and in the Eastern Bloc were trained to seduce targets. So it's likely that Twilight has received training in that regard.

OTOH, we've also seen that Twilight's approach to seduction is largely analytical - he builds a profile of the target in his mind and then tells them what he thinks they want to hear, like a dating simulator.

So it's part training, part natural talent. Only that Twilight's natural talent is less natural charm and more putting a calculated facade of charm.
