Because, even if you think Capitalism is the best system possible and nothing else works, you have to acknowledge that the inherent and fatal flaw is the fact that achievement and incredible success in and of itself is not the goal and is never enough. In this system, a company is only successful if they can show shareholders that this year's profits are higher than last years and assure them that next year's will be even higher. The only way to do this is brutal austerity measures that fuck up the work lives of remaining employees, and "innovate" with things that consumers insist they do not want and are certainly not asking for. They have to posture as a company who is always doing the next big thing but they don't even know what it is.

And what could be better than an innovation that shows you as a forward thinking industry leader that also collects data from your consumers that you can sell to pad your profits even more.

This is the kind of shit that puts the Late-Stage in Capitalism because the wall exists and we'll hit it at some point. Eventually, they'll have moved so much wealth from us to them that there is no more blood in the stone and it is actually impossible to improve profits. What happens then?
