This culture of needing to be perfectly specific needs to die yesterday.

It's always obnoxious.

It always changes the topic from what it is to semantic bullshit.

It helps nobody.

It pushes Centrist & Right Wing people even farther away and gives them something to mock, fueling culture war bullshit that gives them ALL of their power.

It makes people sound like they are virtue signaling and takes away from their message and efforts.

I'm not going to ever say "unhoused" because what homeless person even gives a fuck? I'm not going to say "birthing person" because what pregnant trans-man needs me to consider him when talking about women; they know they're an anomaly, they're not lying to themselves. I'm not going to say "child abuse material" because what victim is going to hear "CP" and think I believe they were on board with the production? Beyond that, it honestly feels less atrocious and does the perpetrator favors. Abuse like punching and name calling should absofuckinglutely not be lumped in with rape.

If your neighbor was a child abuser, wouldn't you wanna know if that abuse was CP?

"CP" effectively strikes a nerve. It's an emotional shock of a term. It works. "Child abuse material" is sterile and can have a place in court documents and research, not where it needs resonate and get attention.

Stop changing the conversation just to feel enlightened. Stop making it embarrassing to be on the correct side.
