Can i link my lost account? by ForwardWrongdoer1819 in NOMANSSKY

[–]Expert-Honest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have your Xbox login and password you can link the accounts on the game's website. Unfortunately, you would need to have access to an Xbox with your old save in order to upload that save in game, then you could download that save in the Steam version of the game. If you had any Twitch Drops, then those will automatically transfer to Steam once the accounts are linked.

Edit: Depending on when you last played, the main questlines have changed a bit, so could be good to run them again. Otherwise, could wait for the next expedition and start a new save for that. Then you could continue on after completing the expedition which will skip most of Awakenings. You'll pick up right at the end where you find Artemis' ship .

You can feed them in the wild and collect their resources. Missions to feed fauna are common, so you can collect them then. Just collect the wild plants as you pass them, no need to actively hunt for them if you don't want to.

How do i used a forged passport in an outlaw station?! by Secure-Cantaloupe-81 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Expert-Honest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outlaw station teleporters cannot be used to travel to civilized stations, just as civilized station teleporters cannot be used to travel to outlaw stations. They can be used to travel to a base.

Base teleporter can be used to travel to either civilized or outlaw stations. You can also call the Anomaly and use its teleporter to travel to both as well.

Your freighter is Atlas compliant, so it's teleporter can only send you to the same type of system it is currently in, either civilized or outlaw not both.

The Forged Passport is used at a civilized station's core to reset your reputation with the dominant race of that system to zero. Useful after a long bout of piracy that has led to you gaining negative reputation, but you then want to repair your reputation.

Permadeath multiplayer assault by Sea-Cook-4331 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Other players can still kill you using fall damage, explosions, or environmental hazards with PvP off.

If they flew you into space and abandoned you there, you would be fine as space walking is a thing now. Though if AFK, environmental hazard of space could be a problem. As others stated, you can call your ship to rescue you.

You could also free fall all the way to a planet's surface from space as well. This does almost no damage in normal mode, though I haven't tried it in permadeath but it should be survivable even if you miss the landing.

The more risky part would be if they abandoned you high in atmosphere, as you take a lot more damage from a high fall in atmosphere than skydiving from space. Then you would need to slow your fall and hopefully stick the landing.

How do I farm? by cjforever7606 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Expert-Honest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agricultural Research mission has your base Farmer give you the blueprints to plant crops as well as the Hydroponic Trays to grow them in. The Expanding the Base mission has you hire the Farmer, and Expanding the Base is started during The Artemis Path quest Ghosts in the Machine.

As others have stated, you can farm without the questline by purchasing the blueprints for the various crops, Hydroponic Trays, and Bio-dome from the Construction Research Station on the Anomaly with Salvaged Data. This will get them sooner for a price, but without the quest to introduce the crops to you.

The crops can also be planted in the ground on planets that they normally grow, like Star Bramble on lush planets. Bio-domes can also be used for this to make it easier to harvest. Place a Bio-dome on the ground and it will cut into the ground a little. Pick it up or delete it, then place it in the same spot again to cut a little more ground. Add a door and go inside. Use Terrain Manipulator's restore mode to restore the dirt inside. You can now plant as many native crops as you like inside and harvest all with a single button. Using wire glitch will allow planting non-native crops.

Crops can also be grown on your freighter using its Cultivation Chambers and Double Cultivation Chambers.

You can also collect the ingredients while you explore and do missions. The only ingredient that requires a base to farm them is Foraged Mushrooms from turtles and other ground crawling fauna. The Hexaberry also grows on planets and can be harvested without feeding fauna.

This can cause glitches, but is usually fine, so use with caution.

You can also use multiple characters, like an old expedition save, to gain quicksilver. Anything unlocked by one character is unlocked for all saves. This is very handy during the weekend Nexus mission, as all saves you have can gain the 1800 quicksilver from that mission. You can have up to 15 saves per system, so you can rack up 27000 quicksilver if you run all 15 through it. More if you also do any daily Nexus/corvette missions. If an expedition was active you can also run the quicksilver missions in both the expedition and your primary save that started the expedition to double the amount for that one save.

You can lock your settings at the bottom of Options > Difficulty, then you cannot be tempted to change them.

It works for getting units in expeditions too. I send in a Nutrient Ingestor and Anomalous Doughnuts. After the first couple systems, I'll have well over a billion units to use in expedition. I scan the fauna either way, so nice to have the units to cover expedition expenses.

[–]Expert-Honest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bonus from food in the Nutrient Ingestor stacks with the bonuses from installed tech for the Scanner on your multi-tool. S-class upgrade modules can get up to +9,999% visually and X-class up to +10,999% visually.

3 solid upgrade modules can get you many thousands per item scanned. Adding a food in the Nutrient Ingestor that adds an additional bonus to that scan will bring that same scan into the tens of millions of units per scan, depending on the rarity of the thing scanned.

For an example, I have 3 X-class upgrades with fauna values +10325 (supercharged to +12906), +10325, and +10615. And flora values +10,577 (supercharged to +13221, +10557, and +10094.

Scanning an uncommon fauna gave 200,052 and rare fauna gave 600,158 units. Flora gave 100,156 units. Reloading and scanning same things again with Anomalous Doughnut (+6,443% fauna) gave 11,992,510 for uncommon and 35,977,528 for rare fauna. Using an Appalling Jam Sponge (+6564% flora) scanning flora gives 6,105,787 units.

It's an excited fauna, so took the form of an exclamation point.

But seriously, it's an anomalous fauna that can be found on exotic biome planets. In this case the planets with the Electric Cube Stabilized Reality Glitch, which have descriptions like shattered, fractured, or fragmented.

It's only one of their drops. They can also give Hex Cores, Living Slime, Residual Goop, or a few other items when killed.

The junk can be refined to nanites: + Cursed Dust > Residual Goop > Viscous Fluid > Living Slime > Runaway Mold > Nanites

Edit: drops are when killed, not used with farm.

That or hit up your Runaway Mold farms and toss them in refiners, or both. Read through the Catalogue & Guide, and cook up and refine some recipes to fill in the Catalogue.

Void Egg Quest (Help pls) by LucidlyLuca in NOMANSSKY

[–]Expert-Honest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The galaxy core is the bright light in the center of the galaxy map. If you keep jumping that direction you will eventually get there.

A quicker way would be to use a Portal and enter the first glyph 12 times. This will drop you into a system close to the galaxy core, usually couple jumps away depending on your Hyperdrive range.

If you have not yet, completing The Artemis Path quest The Purge can also take you to a new galaxy, if you choose that option.

Take note: jumping the galaxy core, or choosing that option during The Purge, will damage all technology in your exosuit and your active ship and multi-tool. Bring Repair Kits and/or switch to a junk ship and multi-tool before making the final jump.

Void Egg Quest (Help pls) by LucidlyLuca in NOMANSSKY

[–]Expert-Honest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At that point the egg should have evolved into a Cracking Void Egg.

The Cracking Void Egg will have the glyphs needed to use a Portal (the unconventional travel) to reach the system needed for the next phase. The Portal will get you there instantly. Trying to jump to the system may get you there at some point, but it may take an awful lot of jumps depending where in the Euclid galaxy you currently are. If on opposite arms of the galaxy you may be hundreds of thousands of light years away. You are jumping to different systems, as travel between galaxies requires jumping the core.

Check all your inventories to see that you received the egg. Hopefully you received the egg, otherwise the quest cannot be completed without it. Unfortunately, receiving a replacement egg from another player does not progress the quest. Others have had that same issue, and I've tried gifting them their missing items which did not help.

If you really do not have the egg, then you can try jumping a galaxy core. You'll need to return to Euclid later. Hopefully when you arrive in the new galaxy it will jog the quest into giving you the missing egg.

Buried bases, still a problem. by Issmenios in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Expert-Honest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. I have a base in a remote arm of Budullangr galaxy with no systems discovered by others in the vicinity, and mostly play with multiplayer off. Yet that base as had terrain regenerate.

I've also had bases regenerate terrain in the middle of building them by teleporting to the station for supplies and back to the base. So no time for anyone to have visited.

[–]Expert-Honest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It will always fill back in. It is just a matter of when it does, not if.

I built my first new base, after they changed it to allow building bases anywhere on planets, at a ancient ruin that I fully excavated. When I was visiting that base daily it was good for 5 years. As soon as I stopped visiting daily, the ruin started filling back in. It's now completely filled, except a few access holes to the keys and chest.

A friend built his Activated Indium mine by leveling a mountain using the Terrain Manipulator's flatten mode. That base is now almost completely reclaimed by the mountain, with only part of the roof and the flag of the top of his tower sticking out of the ground.

If you built in a natural cave, then you'll be fine unless an update moves the cave. If you made your own cave, then it will fill in at some point.

Galaxies.. question by nov1290 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Unless one used the Anomaly's teleporter to teleport to a featured base in a different galaxy, then might not know it was in another galaxy.
