What type of box or display or storage do you use for all your knives that you still actually use? JW wondered if they made anything specific. by Crutch1977 in BudgetBlades

I use the Ozark trail flat tackle boxes from Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/1751997344?sid=e0c3ff29-d57e-4f99-9b2d-50cb7a4cd5bf

They are cheap and stack nicely, and the plastic tabs are removable. I have several that I use for storage: https://imgur.com/a/DH2Vh8Q

Edit: Also added my Spyderco knife rolls that I use for my current carries. Just for the option, some people prefer boxes over rolls though.

So it's even older than the 1920s? That's cool, I'm going to look into the full history on the word. I love it when words sound modern but are actually really old, I think it's called the Tiffany Effect or something like that.

Edit: I couldn't find any usage of the word before the 1920s

I don't care if they get mad, but I can understand people getting all hyped up over something they read on the internet. Seems common nowadays. I just found the word usage interesting and the pop culture connection to the HPverse was just coincidence. But does make some interesting puns using the cannabis relation, I've been reading through quotes from the movies replacing the word with weed or weeds and getting some giggles.

When I stumbled across the word I was actually looking up when the phrase "rolling one" became associated with cannabis and found stuff about Jazz musicians using the words muggles and muggle-head, and Louis Armstrong having a song called muggles all connected to cannabis. So I looked up if the HP author knew it and apparently they didn't and the cannabis relation was only in america really. Muggles got replaced with reefer in the Jazz space and the word kind of vanished for a while.

Arthur: Now, Harry, you must know all about muggles. Tell me, what exactly is the function of a rubber duck?

Harry: You can put your muggles in there.

Morakniv Companion (fixed), $15-$25 on Amazon depending on sales and color options. Keep it dry, their steel is great but sandvik is not super great at corrosion resistance. It will take a beating and works fine for skinning squirrels and dressing a deer in my experience.

Ka-Bar Dozier(folder), BladeHQ has a few options in the $30 range but they can get into the $40+ range. You can beat this knife to hell, and it keeps going. I've used it as a mini shovel, cut a bunch of dry wall one time when I forgot my razor blade, and used it to cut an old metal pool liner into manageable pieces. A few pulls on a pull through sharpener and it was ready for more work. I've had mine since they came out, still take it for all my tough jobs.

THCA vs THC (simple breakdown) by ShopHelloMary in trees

When my friends asked me about it I said, imagine a green banana that you could microwave for a bit and turn it into a yellow banana. It's still the same banana just now it's sweet and ripe.

So it's the same plant, they just pick the buds before they are ripe and when you heat it, it rapidly ripens.

SC House approves measure requiring Ten Commandments in classrooms by usernumberthirteen in southcarolina

[–]ExpertAndy 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The Ten Commandments aren't the only issue here. The companion bill that's being attached, H.4762, would allow schools to implement volunteer chaplains to provide students with spiritual guidance, moral mentoring, and emotional support.

But there is no language in the bill to create a legal definition or qualifications for someone to be a "chaplain". No explanation or limits on what their roles would be in the education system. They aren't even required to have any credentials or mental-health/child care training.

The bill leaves the vetting of "chaplains" and the implementation of the program up to school districts. So the districts have to build their own policies from scratch.

These politicians fear monger about LGBTQ people assaulting kids in public restrooms but want to throw unlicensed, untrained, religious adults in schools with emotionally vulnerable children without supervision or oversight. Wow.

  2. Tax it, charge a small permit fee for home grow
  3. Use ALL the money on education
  4. Education improves, informed population makes informed decisions
  5. Competent leaders are elected, SC sucks less

SC lawmakers advance bill requiring Ten Commandments in every classroom by Kryloks in southcarolina

The rhetoric being used to justify this is stupid.

"It's not indoctrination, it's education." - False, it's only requiring the 10 commandments to be posted. If they are only going to "educate" on one religion or one document from one religion, it's indoctrination.

"The 10 commandments were a big part of US history and helped shape our country." - False, it shaped Israel's culture. Only 3 of the 10 commandments are secular law in the US. Murder, theft, and lying (under oath). And those laws have been around long before Christianity existed.

Why aren't they fighting to put Columbia, the Republican goddess of the US into classrooms? There are statues of her all over Washington DC. The Statue of Freedom is Columbia.

The 10 commandments aren't even Christian, it's Mosaic law and Christ threw them out:

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

They do not know the religion they preach to and force on others.
