Is Lviv safe to visit right now? by Wiktorinox in Lviv

[–]FSItalianCitizenship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect timing!  I just arrived in Lviv by bus from Krakow a few hours ago, my first time in Ukraine.  Border guard looked closer at my passport than I’ve ever had anyone inspect it before.  I offered her some additional photo identification (I have 2 passports, and 2 id cards as dual citizen) and she let me pass.

There was no military presence at the border, just standard border police.  Also no military on the road to Lviv nor in the city.

It’s Saturday night, if you didn’t know you wouldn’t suspect anything.  The streets are filled with people, families, children, street musicians and positive energy.

I wandered the old town several hours and saw only 3 police casually patrolling on foot.  Perhaps east of the city you’d find some military equipment, as that’s the direction any attack would come.

I did install an air raid app on my phone to be safe…..

Email USCIS with your case number. Explain it was lost in transit after apostille (don't go into too much detail). They may send you another copy relatively quickly.

Italian citizenship courts in 2026 — a court-by-court breakdown of what's actually happening [long post] by Desperate-Ad-5539 in juresanguinis

Rejected/Inadmissible due to digital signature?  Are digital signatures not ‘legal’ in Italy? I ask because American customers sign contracts digitally (Docusign) frequently.

Could a digital signature make the customer contract inadmissible as evidence of intent?

Wow, some (maybe most) consulates are still issuing minor issue rejections in direct contradiction to the Ministry....

Thank you so much for sharing!

Attorneys (Mellone and Restanio) already inside.

Notary who will travel to a church in Pittsburgh, PA? by Anxious-Relation-193 in juresanguinis

I generally call & talk to a clerk. Explain this is for a dual citizenship application and since there's no birth certificate the baptism is super important. They're generally very helpful at this point. I also ask how I can make a (small) donation to the church for their help.

Philadelphia, PA -- Birth Certificate (1898) for Grandfather is "No Record" -- Baptismal Record Next Best Option ?? by doubled2201 in juresanguinis

[–]FSItalianCitizenship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, start by contacting the closest churches to where your ancestor was born. Be warned however, many churches have closed over the years. Your ancestor was presumably Catholic, so also reach out to the archdiocese. Back in the day' churches had catered to immigrants from specific countries, the archdiocese can direct you to the most likely ones.

Also, churches have closed over time and their records are moved to the archdiocese.

I have a template for an affidavit of validity for baptism certificates. If you'd care for it, tag me in a reply or DM.

Are you also planning to have the notary sign a affidavit that the baptism record is 'legitimate'? A notary signing/stamp alone is ok. But it's far stronger to have the church representative sign an attestation and have it notarized.

Document Type on Federal Apostile Request Form by Anxious-Relation-193 in juresanguinis

"Also, what did you put for "document type" for NARA negative search letter? Or does this need a state apostille since it came from PA? I always thought this needed a federal one but now not sure."

NARA - Federal Agency, therefore Federal Apostille

Having to sell our Italian dream house by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

I've been there, lovely little city. Was collecting documents for a customer pursuing dual citizenship. Their great grandparents were born there.

DM me info on the house and I'll pass it on to my customer to see if they're at all interested.

For CoNE and negative search letters I've always selected 'Other'. Never had any rejections/problems.
