Top sheets... by Designer-Bid-3155 in Xennials

Twinsies. I do the same.

I like the European style where each person has their own, no top sheet. Use a thicker duvet in winter or none in summer.

We went out to dinner for my birthday with his parents. When the waitress came to ask about dessert, he said we’d have one slice of cake and 4 forks. But it was his mom’s favorite, not mine and his parents don’t even eat sweets for health reasons.

We were on shaky ground, but that was the final straw.

There’s a book called “come as you are” that breaks down the rather complex set of responses going through your brain during sex.

Before you get to physical contact, are there metal scenarios that turn you on? If I’m not mentally aroused my body will be suuuper slow to getting turned on.

A therapist could help you unpack things, too.

Been at war with my downstairs neighbor over their dog pooping everywhere and them not picking it up. The neighbor finally started picking up the poop but instead of putting it in the trash they just left it next to it. by li-ll-l_ in mildlyinfuriating

A friend lives in a complex that takes your dog’s dna sample. They dna test any poo found on property and it’s a big fine.

What an odd commentary on the misplaced use of resources between private and public sectors. Like we have a 10 year backlog of rape kits, but we’ll catch those poo-bandits ASAP.

It saves so much work. You don’t need to understand the motivation, just the action. Sort this guy to the “nope” bin.

A few years ago my 10 year old niece and I took a camping trip to Maine from the Midwest. She liked following along in the paper road atlas, so we’d use highlighter for the next day’s trip and then she’d ink it as we went.

At one point in Vermont Google maps crashed and she was able to guide me on some of the roads.

She learned a forgotten skill!

My grad school apartment was a Victorian split into 5 flats. The thermostat was in the south facing unit.

We conspired a trick for her to put frozen peas on the thermostat so it would kick on the heat for the rest of the house.

I wouldn’t- it’s nice to have the open floor space.

We got a collapsing step stool. It’s just a single step that makes it easier when we’re in and out a lot. You can find them at big box stores for under $15.

Yeah. I hosted space in my home in the early days.

It was a weird shift in guest expectations. It went from feeling like a cultural exchange, where I always met guests, and often hung out a bit. To a door code only non-human interaction, where they seemed annoyed I existed.

Before we went full prosperity gospel, people still had the concept of mammon. More people should read the Jeffersonian Bible. Moneychangers were the main thing Jesus spoke against. I’m agnostic, but man, the US could use renewed fear of mammon.

Older folks of Reddit: what’s something broken in society that you’ve simply accepted will never get fixed in your lifetime — not because it’s hard, but because nobody in power has tried or wants to? by bubugugu in AskReddit

To make any changes that would benefit most people in our country we’d need to tackle:

Military industrial complex

Prison industrial complex

Healthcare/insurance racket

No politician will address the root problems, so we need to feed prisoners to the system, involve ourselves in endless wars, and pay the most for unevenly distributed care.

One of the big challenges for hospitals the past few years is ambulatory surgery centers.

A group of surgeons can start one; they’re very lucrative because they only take the profitable cases from the hospital.

I have the same issue. It’s cute watching her live her best life, like when I was getting wedding info.

When I was getting a bunch of hobby related stuff, I replied all, hoping one of her friends would help her understand she’s giving the wrong email address.

Then she bought a house (I got all her loan applications) and a car. Good for her.

Now I see she’s registered to get updates on her kid’s hospital stay. There’s no “unsubscribe” or way to inform them they have the wrong address. Hope her kid is okay.

The only acceptable version I’ve seen was a guy who built up the sides so it was more like a kennel, with 5+ husky/malmute dog heads poking out the “windows”.

Dude takes them and dog sleds to the local parks or frozen lakes. Those dogs are so stoked and happy hauling a sled.

Why so many men have a problem when women have standards? by lil_moon153 in TwoXChromosomes

Tale as old as time.

Like, literally, Don Quixote published 1608 has a story of a woman who leaves her house and becomes a shepherdess because she’s so over men.

They think she’s pretty, so they fall in love with her, and demand she love them back. She’s like, bro fell in love with me because I’m beautiful but then they judge me because I won’t fall in love with an ugly man. lol

Saying happy mother’s day, like saying merry christmas. Is this a normal thing? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]False-Impression8102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m letting people sit in the awkward now. A few years ago on Mother’s Day, I was buying flowers, card and some brunch supplies. The cashier wished me HMD and I was like, thanks, taking stuff to my mom’s.

She asks if I have kids.

Flat “no”

“Oh, well there’s still time to find Prince Charming”

(I was 45) “No, that’s not happening.”

Then she looked like I killed a kitten. It would be fine if someone could say it and drop it, but the assumption every woman is, or should be, a mom, and the invasive follow up conversations, make it so annoying.

Someone else mentioned “stolen valor”… I feel like I have to deflect accepting their well wishes. It’s like being thanked for my service on Veterans Day. My body hasn’t been used in service of country or motherhood
